    Get PDF
Grammatical competence plays a critical role in overall linguistic proficiency, especially for future educators. This study investigated the level of grammatical competence among 81 pre-service teachers in Cebu, Philippines, and explored its relationship with sex, initial age of exposure to English as a Second Language, and academic specialization. The research employed a mixed-methods approach, combining a descriptive-quantitative design to assess grammar levels and a thematic-qualitative design to explore perceived contributing factors. Findings revealed that most participants were female, had been introduced to English during their formative years, and were specializing in Physical Education. The majority demonstrated an upper intermediate level of grammatical competence, indicating the ability to handle complex grammatical structures with some precision. Statistical analysis showed that sex, age of initial English exposure, and specialization had no significant relationship with grammatical competence. Participants identified five key factors as contributors to their current grammar proficiency: consistent use of English as a medium of communication, exposure to English literary texts, frequent practice of productive language skills, constructive feedback from mentors and peers, and individual motivation and attitude. It is concluded that while demographic and academic variables do not significantly affect grammatical competence, language instruction in teacher education programs should prioritize enhancing the identified influencing factors. Curriculum development should focus on universally applicable strategies to elevate pre-service teachers' grammatical proficiency to an advanced level, thereby improving their effectiveness as future language educators

The Triple Imperative in Fossil Fuel Logistics: Efficiency, Safety, and Environmental Sustainability

    Get PDF
Fossil fuels—coal, oil, and natural gas—remain central to global energy despite environmental concerns. This study examines the logistics of transporting these fuels, each with unique challenges. Coal relies on bulk rail and ship transport, raising pollution concerns. Oil uses pipelines and tankers, with risks like spills. Natural gas, especially LNG, requires complex infrastructure for liquefaction, shipping, and regasification. Safety is a major issue due to hazards like explosions and spills, prompting industry reliance on technology and regulations. Environmental impacts include emissions, ecosystem damage, and methane leaks. The paper calls for improved efficiency, safety, and sustainability in logistics. Through case studies, it highlights innovations and best practices to mitigate risks and enhance performance. As the world shifts toward cleaner energy, fossil fuel logistics must evolve to meet environmental standards and societal expectations

    Get PDF

Abstract- This study aims to analyze the impact of Padang cuisine consumption on the performance of foreign athletes playing for the Semen Padang FC football club. Padang cuisine is renowned for its rich and flavorful spices, but it is also characterized by a high fat and calorie content. This factor is suspected to affect the physical condition and performance of athletes, particularly foreign players who are not accustomed to this dietary pattern.  The research employs a mixed-methods approach, including a survey of 8 foreign athletes from Semen Padang FC, in-depth interviews with the team's nutritionist, and performance analysis based on match data over one competitive season. The findings indicate that 60% of the athletes experienced a decline in performance during the initial weeks, attributed to adaptation challenges to Padang cuisine, such as reduced energy levels or digestive issues. However, following dietary adjustments involving menu modifications to Padang cuisine with the assistance of the nutritionist and specialized catering from Cleanfood.pdg, the athletes’ performance improved by up to 15% compared to the beginning of the season.  This study concludes that Padang cuisine can significantly influence the performance of foreign athletes, both positively and negatively, depending on the adaptation process and nutritional management. The research provides important recommendations for clubs to adjust the dietary patterns of foreign players to achieve optimal performance on the field.Key words: Padang cuisine, Foreign atthletes, Performance adaptation, Sport nutritio
