    Get PDF
The main objective of this study was to appraise the mode of management of public green spaces in the City of Dakar. To do this, the list of public green spaces was obtained from the inspection of green spaces (Water and Forests Directorate) in Dakar. We also conducted semi-structured interviews with representatives of the following institutions: the Department of Urban Landscapes and Public Spaces, the urban green spaces division of the City of Dakar, managers of public green paces across 7 municipalities out of 19 of the City of Dakar, the National Statistics and Demography Agency, and private sector actors. This was complemented by an exploratory study to investigate problems encountered in the field. The results clearly show that urbanization is detrimental to local biodiversity. As for the rate of coverage of green spaces in the city, the study reveals a different panorama: if we consider the City of Dakar as a whole, the inhabitants need for green spaces is satisfied. However, a ratio per inhabitant of 0.33 m2 indicates that the ratio of green space per inhabitant in the municipality of Dakar Plateau is very insufficient. Finally, a survey of the technical services of seven municipalities revealed that the managers of green spaces were interested in sustainable management. They also already adopted practices to meet the challenges of sustainable management. Furthermore, the analysis of the responses show that the treatment of the issues is unequal, and that many technical obstacles to the sustainable management of public green spaces were encountered. In conclusion, this study made it possible to propose a set of good practices for the management of green spaces, and technical support for all managers within the technical departments

    Get PDF
Cloud adoption has accelerated in recent years, driven by benefits such as global accessibility, ease of deployment, scalability, faster time to market, and security. These advantages have enabled businesses to navigate rapid changes while maintaining resilience against unforeseen challenges, such as health pandemics, global supply chain disruptions, and geopolitical instability. As a result, many companies have adopted a "Cloud-First" strategy to prioritize cloud-based solutions when developing new processes or modernizing existing ones. However, the rapid expansion of cloud adoption has also introduced challenges such as cost overruns, compliance issues, and data privacy concerns. To address these challenges, the "Cloud Smart" strategy has been developed to optimize cloud adoption, helping businesses manage costs more effectively, enhance security, and deliver faster services. This paper presents a case study of a leading real estate development company in KSA, which strategically repatriated certain workloads from the cloud to on-premises environments, achieving significant cost savings. The study highlights the challenges of inefficient cloud usage, where workloads lacking cloud-native optimizations led to unexpectedly high expenses with limited operational benefits. However, The Company retained its public cloud infrastructure for modern applications, AI capabilities, and disaster recovery (DR), leveraging the cloud’s agility and scalability. This paper explores the rationale, execution, and outcomes of a Cloud Smart approach using a hybrid multi-cloud model, offering valuable insights for organizations seeking to optimize their cloud environments.[Note: The name of the company and identifying details have been withheld for confidentiality reasons.]. Keywords— Hybrid Multi-Cloud, Cloud Repatriation, Cost Optimization, Cloud-Smart, Cloud-Firs

“If They Strike Once, We Will Strike Twice”: Office Door Graffiti as a Double Force Retaliation Against Administrative Policies in Zimbabwean Public Schools

    Get PDF
This paper examines office door graffiti in Zimbabwean public schools as a form of learner dissent against administrative policies. It presents graffiti as a creative outlet for frustration and a critique of authority, reflecting a collective discontent among learners. Often filled with insults aimed at specific administrators, this artwork encapsulates learners' emotional challenges within rigid institutions. The study utilises a mixed-method approach, gathering data from four public schools in the Masvingo district through interviews, focus group discussions, and participant observations. Grounded in Dadaism, the research portrays graffiti as spontaneous rebellion against injustices and a voice for marginalised learner populations. Its strategic placement on office doors symbolises a confrontation with authority, urging administrators to address learner grievances. Ultimately, this study emphasises the importance of graffiti as a visible critique of authority, shedding light on the socio-political contexts affecting learner experiences in Zimbabwe’s public schools and highlighting learner agency in systemic challenges

Tenant loyalty ensures the stability and growth of real estate companies. The present study focuses on determining the factors impacting on the loyalty of retail box tenants in shopping centers in Antananarivo. A pre-survey of a sample of 46 shopping center property owners and managers identified and clarified the main problems encountered by this type of business. Several factors are suggested as influencing tenant satisfaction, such as technical dimensions, functional dimensions and service quality. These three relationships form the first three hypotheses of the study. Secondly, the satisfaction of these customers is assumed to influence their loyalty, a relationship forming the fourth hypothesis of the research. A final sample of 234 individuals was defined, made up of the tenants of the commercial boxes, in order to study their loyalty. Analysis of the data collected, carried out using structural equation modelling and Smart PLS, showed a positive and significant correlation between the technical dimension, the functional dimension, relational quality and satisfaction of commercial box tenants in Antananarivo. The results also showed that the loyalty of commercial tenants is positively influenced by their satisfaction. This study underlines the importance for the real estate companies studied to consider the aforementioned factors in order to improve their tenant retention strategies and thus establish lasting relationships with their tenants

Introduction : La tuberculose ostéoarticulaire (TOA) figure parmi les pathologies responsables d’un handicap fonctionnel majeur à Madagascar.

The Merdeka Curriculum has begun to be implemented in several schools across Indonesia. This curriculum change presents a new challenge for educators, requiring them to adapt to its application. Additionally, problem-solving skills are among the essential competencies needed in the 21st century. One of the learning models that can be applied to Merdeka Curriculum is Problem-Based Learning. Therefore, this study aims to examine the effect of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model in the Merdeka Curriculum on the mathematical problem-solving skills of seventh-grade junior high school students. This study used a quasi-experimental method. The sample used in this study was 30 seventh grade of junior high school students. Data were collected using a mathematical problem-solving skills test instrument in the form of a pretest and posttest. Hypothesis testing was conducted using the Independent Sample T-test, preceded by prerequisite tests, namely the normality test and the homogeneity test. Based on the research findings, the sig. (2-tailed) value in the Equal Variance Assumed section was 0.008, which is less than α = 0.05, leading to the rejection of H0. Since H0 is rejected, it can be concluded that the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model has a significant positive effect on students' mathematical problem-solving skills
