Oncolytic Viruses: A New Frontier in Cancer Therapy

Oncolytic viruses (OVs) have surfaced as a promising approach for combating tumors owing to their ability to selectively proliferate within cancer cells, trigger apoptosis, and activate immune responses. Nevertheless, the therapeutic potency of individual OVs is hindered by the intricate and immunosuppressive characteristics of the tumor microenvironment (TME). To tackle these obstacles, the engineering of OVs has become a pivotal area of research. This review spotlights engineering techniques and multimodal combination therapies for OVs aimed at overcoming delivery challenges, viral engulfment, and antiviral immune responses in cancer treatment. The engineering strategies examined involve amplifying in vivo immune responses, enhancing replication efficacy within tumor cells, boosting safety profiles, and refining targeting capabilities , while summarizing ongoing clinical trial data. By persistently refining engineering techniques , we can realize enhanced treatment outcomes and improved quality of life for cancer patients

Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the mechanism of action of Amblygonocarpus andongensis on acute kidney injury (AKI) induced by unilateral ureteral obstruction (UUO). Methods: 36 rats were divided into six groups of six animals each. AKI was induced by UUO on all animals except those in the normal and sham control groups, under anaesthesia. The animals were treated with 5 ml/kg distilled water (normal, sham and negative controls), aqueous extract of A. andongensis stem bark (AEAASB) at doses of 125, 250 and 500 mg/kg (test groups), daily for 3 days. Urinary, haematological, serum and oxidative stress parameters were assessed. Histological sections of the kidneys were taken. Results: AEAASB caused a significant decrease in the mass of obstructed kidneys, leucocyte count (p < 0.001), urinary protein and serum creatinine levels and consequently increase urinary creatinine level and the value of renal creatinine clearance (p < 0.001). Additionally, this extract, significantly decreased malondialdehyde levels (p < 0.05) and increased superoxide dismutase, catalase, reduced glutathione and nitric oxide levels (p < 0.001). Microphotographs showed that this extract prevented renal tissue damage induced by UUO. Principal component analysis and agglomerative hierarchical clustering showed that AEAASB has therapeutic effects on AKI associated with UUO and that the 500 mg/kg dose was the most effective. Conclusion: AEAASB has nephroprotective effects which are thought to result from its vasodilatory and inhibitory action on the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system, via an increase in nitric oxide production

Comparative Analysis of Classical and Post-Quantum Cryptographic Methods for Secure Digital Signature Implementation in the Quantum Era

Rapid improvements in quantum computing have posed substantial hurdles to conventional cryptography systems, which depend on the computational intractability of resolving intricate mathematical issues. Digital signatures, fundamental to data security, guarantee the authenticity and integrity of digital communications. Nevertheless, traditional cryptography techniques, like RSA and ECC, are becoming more susceptible to quantum attacks owing to the substantial computing capabilities of quantum computers. Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) has developed as a crucial domain dedicated to the creation of quantum-resistant algorithms that can endure these dangers. This research examines the relative efficacy of conventional and quantum cryptography techniques, concentrating on the processes of digital signature creation and validation. Experimental findings underscore the trade-offs between the two methodologies regarding computing efficiency and security strength. Although classical cryptography has superior execution speeds, it is deficient in the robustness necessary to withstand quantum assaults. In contrast, PQC approaches, although somewhat more resource-demanding, provide superior security via sophisticated algorithms like lattice-based, hash-based, and multivariate polynomial cryptography. The research demonstrates that PQC mitigates the weaknesses of conventional cryptographic systems while providing a scalable and pragmatic solution for secure communication in the quantum age. This study underscores the need for ongoing research and enhancement of PQC approaches to augment their computing efficiency and facilitate smooth incorporation into current infrastructures. The results provide an essential foundation for the shift to quantum-resistant encryption, safeguarding sensitive information in a swiftly changing digital environment

Examining Regional Elections (Pilkada) Through Strategic Leadership Theory: Integrating The Total People's Defense System And Grassroots-Oriented Policies

Regional elections, commonly referred to as Pilkada in Indonesia, serve as a vital democratic mechanism for selecting regional leaders and influencing policy directions that impact local development and national priorities. Traditionally viewed as arenas for political competition, Pilkada holds the potential to transcend elite-focused dynamics and become a transformative platform for fostering inclusive governance, strengthening social cohesion, and advancing national resilience. This article examines Pilkada through the lens of strategic leadership theory, emphasizing its capacity to integrate developmental and defense-oriented objectives within the framework of the Total People's Defense System (Sistem Pertahanan Rakyat Semesta, SPRS). By employing a conceptual and analytical approach, this study explores how adaptive leadership, inclusivity, and grassroots participation can be leveraged to align Pilkada outcomes with both local needs and broader national interests. It identifies strategic leadership as a critical component in ensuring that Pilkada transitions from a focus on electoral competition to a mechanism for producing leaders capable of addressing complex regional challenges, promoting participatory governance, and contributing to sustainable development. Furthermore, the integration of SPRS principles into Pilkada processes is highlighted as a means to enhance regional resilience by embedding defense and security considerations into governance frameworks. The findings underscore the importance of policy recommendations aimed at institutionalizing grassroots engagement, fostering collaboration between stakeholders, and enhancing public literacy on the democratic and developmental roles of Pilkada. This abstract offers a strategic framework for transforming Pilkada into a more effective and productive platform for national development, governance reform, and societal empowerment

The study of cryptosystems is significant, and valuable scientific works are dedicated to them. Cryptosystems are mathematical structures that deal with data encryption and decryption, focusing on confidentiality and authenticity. Cryptography plays a crucial role in meeting these requirements, with numerous researchers proposing various solutions and developing algorithms that have contributed to the security of data confidentiality, integrity, and authentication. However, the issue of securing the internet through modern cryptography has also become increasingly complex. Modern encryption systems rely on complex mathematical algorithms and employ a combination of symmetric and asymmetric key encryption schemes to ensure secure communication. The use of  for image encryption provides an effective and secure method for protecting the privacy, security, and confidentiality of sensitive data, such as artwork or sketches. The use of functions operating in two-dimensional space encrypts images in a way that makes it difficult for unauthorized individuals to decipher their shape and structure. The use of encryption functions for images has the potential to be applied in industries such as product design, computer graphics, virtual reality, engineering, and many other fields
