Human Factor and Hospital Design
The physical anthropologists have been concerned with the documentation and description of human body size variability and its application to design. A significant problem continues to exist, however, in the communication of such knowledge to the wide variety of potential users, the design community. The critical problem is to establish a height that will accommodate the majority of users, taking into account the significant difference in eye height between people of small and large body size. Of the drawings that follow is a series concerned exclusively with this aspect of human dimension. One interesting observation is that the difference in eye height between that of a viewer of very small body size and that of one of very large body size is almost twice as much when both people are standing than when both are in a seated position
A Highly Reliable, Low Power Consumption, Low-Cost Multisensory Based System For Autonomous Navigational Mobile Robot
There has been remarkable growth in most real-time systems in the area of autonomous mobile robots. Collision-free path planning is one of the critical requirements in designing mobile robot systems since they all featured some obstacle detection techniques. This work focuses on the collaborations of low cost multi-sensor system to produce a complementary collision-free path for mobile robots. The proposed algorithm is used with a new model to produce the shortest, and most energy-efficient path from a given initial point to a goal point. Multiple sensors are utilized together, so the benefits of one compensate for the limitations of the other. The experimental results demonstrate that the robot is capable of measuring different distances to obstacles in unknown environments. Moreover, this work aims to minimize the energy consumption of a wheeled mobile robot in dynamic environments. The total energy consumption is evaluated in multiple directions, where both motional energy and operational energy are considered, while the robot is moving in dynamic environments and avoiding collisions. A time complexity analysis and a comparison of the proposed model, and states-of-arts methods are presented by using required resources and the overall performance of the proposed model. The proposed model is characterized by its low cost, low power consumption, and its efficiencies to follow the shortest path while avoiding collisions
Review of Neurobiologically Based Mobile Robot Navigation System Research Performed Since 2000
In an attempt to better understand how the navigation part of the brain works and to possibly create smarter and more reliable navigation systems, many papers have been written in the field of biomimetic systems. This paper presents a literature survey of state-of-the-art research performed since the year 2000 on rodent neurobiological and neurophysiologically based navigation systems that incorporate models of spatial awareness and navigation brain cells. The main focus is to explore the functionality of the cognitive maps developed in these mobile robot systems with respect to route planning, as well as a discussion/analysis of the computational complexity required to scale these systems.http://dx.doi.org/10.1155/2016/863725

Design and Analysis of Internal Hinge Check Valve
The advent of computers and the tremendous strides they have made in the recent times have brought the capability to model complex design and solve innumerable number of mathematical equations in a flash of time, to the desktop of the design engineer. CREO is windows based software package, which enables the design and Ansys will analyse the mechanical and other system. This project is to design 16” Class 300 Internal Hinge Swing Check Valve with compliance to BS 1868 standard. The internal hinge check valve design is to overcome the leakage issue in external hinge design. The aim is to design a check valve without puncturing the body and to assemble the whole disc sub-assembly inside the body. The design of internal hinge check valves is carried out with the help of CREO design software and subsequently analysis is done with the help of ANSYS software package

High Altitude Student Project; Capsule
We are creating an animatronic puppet monkey that will interact with young students, via camera, while in high altitude conditions. The puppet will be housed in a light foam shell, or capsule, and sent up on a high altitude balloon. This project will also be participating in NASA WALLOPS this upcoming fall
