Design and Development of Hilogocical Prototypes for Mobile Collaborative Learning (MCL)

    No full text
© ASEE 2011Collaborative learning is becoming more attentive approach within all educational environments. With new emerging technologies on mobile devices, collaborative learning has grown in popularity to be able to boost the pedagogical learning model in nomadic environments. This paper describes theoretical and technical foundations for designing and developing an effective Mobile collaborative learning (MCL) environment. The focus of this paper is to suggest the client and server based prototypes with support of functional components and working procedures, which help the user to get contents from server to meet the pedagogical needs. We have also proposed novel concept of integrating the features of content-server with cache-server, which helps the users to obtain the fast contents for MCL process. Our proposed prototypes will provide best MCL environment particularly for those students who do not want to attend the institutions but want to learn at homes and working places through mobiles. Finally, we propose new application named "group" with complete prototype design and development to facilitate the students for obtaining the contents for collaboration. Some valuable recommendations are also suggested to incorporate with "group” in Android operating system (OS) and we also implement some part of group application

Rapid Economic Growth without Economic Freedom: A Puzzle Made in China

    No full text
Adam Smith's well-known book, An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations, shows that free markets, the protection of private property rights and a minimal government interference in the economy lead to prosperity. The development economics literature has expansive evidence that economic freedom and sound legal, financial and political institutions boost economic growth. China's economy has grown by nearly 10% each year for over three decades. Yet China's phenomenal economic growth has been accompanied by a relatively underdeveloped legal and financial system. For instance, China is the 124th freest economy in the 2008 Index of Economic Freedom. China seems to be an outlier in the economic growth and freedom literature

Automated and High Speed Machine Design for Telecommunication Products

    No full text
This research focuses on an automated and high speed machine design, which is assembling the bronze wire inside the plastic block, according to the manufacturing and production specification. In this design project, automated system performs special kind of operation in assembly line and it divided in five different stations. The function at first station is wire loading, feeding and straightening the wire. The function in second station is uploading the plastic block into the assembly line and holding the block precisely for inserting the bronze wire. The third station include of wire inserting into the plastic block and cut wire at desire length. The fourth station takes care of bending wire and final station take care of inspection of final assembly product by using appropriate sensors techniques. This project is mainly focus on utilization of automated machinery with simple tooling and fixture with low cost, which properly inspected at each station and easier to maintain in working at "high speed" repeatedly. It also explains major design problems and understands of engineering technology and limitations

Automatic License Plate Location and Recognition Algorithm for Color Images

    No full text
An automatic car license plate location and recognition system has a great importance in today's industrial world for intelligent transport systems. Any automatic license plate location and recognition system has two main stages: (1) the license plate location and (2) the license plate recognition (LPR). The license plate location is the most important stage in the LPR systems which affects the system's accuracy, directly. Most of the previous methods are based on gray images but the color information is also an important factor to locate the license plate. In this project, we propose a novel license plate location algorithm for color images. The proposed algorithm is based on the brake lights and headlights of car. At the recognition stage, a well known and accepted character recognition algorithm has been used
