Environmental Conflict Management in Africa: The Natural Resource Conflict Debate and Restatement of Conflict Management Processes and Strategies in Africa
Natural resources have perhaps played a major role in defining much of Africa's public square. These resources have defined power politics, resource distribution thereof; defined gerrymandering strategies in much of Africa's public administration domain; and have also proved to be a major precipitant of armed struggles. Natural resources have motivated and fuelled armed conflicts in Africa and this has proven to be a hurdle in effective statecraft, or in times of full scale conflict-it has been a hindrance to effective peace processes from the negotiation stage, mediation stage and finally in the post conflict reconstruction or peace-making stage. On the other continuum, Climate change for example, which is a major independent variable in the whole debate of natural resource conflicts in Africa could be viewed as an 'un-necessary burden' for the continent. It expands the purviews of environmental security, threatens the very base of national security and escalates social conflicts. However, it is important to note that the phenomenon of natural resource conflict is quite intricate and just like any social conflict debate, a mono-causal link of natural resource conflicts to climate change would actually not provide a thorough investigation when it comes to conflict analysis and a way forward in essence of natural resource conflict management or peace management for that matter. This paper treats natural resource conflicts as an intricate web of the larger social conflicts and seeks to provide a link between natural resources and social conflicts, to situate the debate within the nexus between natural resource management and conflict management, and to argue for a restatement of a multi-actor and multi-level approach in dealing with natural resource conflicts in the context of conflict management and peace building

Survey on Robust Object Detection
This poster presents a well known object detection technique, which has been used for long time. Viola-Jones approach, is a real time object detection algorithm, which is mostly used for face detection. In Viola-Jones algorithm there are three main contributions: First, inventing a new technique for features computation, which is called Integral Image. Second, using Adaboost learning algorithm to build complex classifier from simple ones. Third, design complex classifier from a strong classifiers, produced from the learning algorithms, by using cascade structure in order. The main goal of our work, is to implement Viola-Jones approach using Matlab and C# programming language, then enhance it by using parallel programming techniques which are supported by .NET framework under this name: Task Parallel Library (TPL)

The Cost-effective Application of Solar Energy
Solar power is an environmental protection, clean energy. Solar power system consists of solar panels, converter, battery and inverter. The main ingredient of solar panels is Silicon. Si is one of the most abundance of material on our planet. The solar power system in this research includes three 15-watt solar panels, a 12VDC converter, battery and a 1000-watt inverter. The energy is collected through the solar panels and stored in the battery. The inverter is used to convert 12VDC into 120VAC, which can provide a variety of experiments and applications. The purpose of this study is to find a system we can apply the solar power to our daily use cost-effectively
Developing the Compiler to Upgrade Features of Object Oriented Programming (OO) C++
© ASEE 2011The latest deployment of emerging technologies with advances in internet and web enabled services change the style of conducting business and managing the daily life. The latest and faster technology has made the world as global village for exchanging the information and service delivery. However, developing the new software and interactive applications for these environments perpetuate to be more challenging and complex issue. To handle these complex tasks, many programming languages are developed to meet the requirements for all of the applications but flaws in programming languages are still continuing. With design and development of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) languages, handling the complexity issues associated with the design, development, maintaining the software and applications, have been controlled with some extend but not fully guaranteed goals are achieved. OOP provides the solution and satisfaction in form of encapsulation, inheritance, polymorphism, Class/Object and data abstraction. Despite of provision of such rich features, OOP has some minor flaws, which causes the weak performance. This paper introduces and handles the flaws of parsing related with C++ language. The major focus of the contribution is to improve an efficiency of parsing associated with current C++ parsers; such as delayed loop statements, nested multi-line Comments, friend functions boolean expression. To handle these issues, we introduce Java Compiler Compiler (Java-CC), which maintains the Lexical and the Parser. Java CC also provides the facility to write flexible coding and definitions in OOP C++. Second, we implement new concept of Java-CC and get the desired results. Finally, we conclude the paper and give the future directions to make C++ more richer language
