State Taxation of Nonresident Foreign Nationals Under International Law

    No full text
The United Nations Model Convention on Double Taxation is the current international standard by which foreign national nonresidents are taxed. This model convention was developed specifically to address the problem of subjecting foreign nationals to being taxed from the same activity in the country of citizenship and the country of residence. The model serves as a template for a treaty between any two countries, which are referred to in the model convention as “Contracting States.” This model convention also specifically applies to students studying abroad. The United States is a party to many tax treaties including treaties with the countries of China and India which serve as the basis for taxation of nonresidents who are citizens of these countries. Purportedly, the several states in the U.S. are not bound by the terms of these treaties. The author believes this premise to be erroneous which is the basis of this research

Magnesium. It’s Effects on Global Maternal Mortality

    No full text
This thesis is being archived as a Digitized Shelf Copy for campus access to current students and staff only. We currently cannot provide this open access without the author's permission. If you are the author of this work and desire to provide it open access or wish access removed, please contact the Wahlstrom Library to discuss permission.Maternal Mortality has many causes, indirect and direct causes are summarized. Effects magnesium has on the causes are also shown through use of various studies. The evidence presented for use of magnesium in the indirect and direct causes with and without relation to pregnancy allows for deduction of reasoning to address the proposition. Magnesium plays a vital role in reducing maternal mortality

The Role of Hematology in Diagnosing and Treating Alzheimer's Disease

    No full text
This study focuses on biomarkers and related factors associated directly or indirectly with Alzheimer’s disease. Fluid biomarkers, inflammatory biomarkers and various imaging technologies are considered. Amyloid βeta protein and tau protein are the two major factors linked either causally or diagnostically with Alzheimer’s. Concentrations of these two proteins in blood and cerebrospinal fluid are evaluated for correlations to Alzheimer’s disease onset and progression and are being studied to determine whether they act independently or interact in some manner. Amyloid βeta detected in plasma shows little or no correlation with Alzheimer’s progression, whereas, tau protein detected in cerebrospinal fluid correlates with Alzheimer’s disease. Current literature has been reviewed for the detection, characterization and correlation of various biomarkers with Alzheimer’s disease

    No full text
What are the economic incentives that lie within the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict? Which actors profit most with the Occupation of the West Bank? This thesis attempts to define Israel-Palestine’s key economic resources that generate the largest amount of revenue, along with those gaining those profits and their interests. It also attempts to bridge the gap between Public Policy and Private Economic revenue, made from the Israeli Occupation (Specifically the Green Line/West Bank.) When these resources, actors and their influences are understood, this is when the true temperament of the Israeli-Palestinian state will surface

Digital Controller Design and Implementation on a Buck-Boost Converter for Photovoltaic Systems

    No full text
© ASEE 2015A photovoltaic (PV) systems are widely used to convert solar energy into electricity. The output of PV system is strongly affected by the weather. In order to maintain the stability of the electrical power, a rechargeable battery is necessary to temporarily store the electricity. The objective of this paper is to make the output voltage of solar panel constant in order to connect its 12V DC rechargeable battery in order to determine whether a change occurred in the input voltage or load. In our proposal, MATLAB-Simulink used to simulate the feedback controller for the power stage, referred to as the Buck-Boost converter. In addition, the Arduino Uno was applied as a PID (proportional, integral, derivative) controller, and the tested while connected to the converter. The results from MATLAB-Simulation and the Arduino Uno experiments will be compared and analyzed
