This paper examined the main causes of persistent flooding in some selected flood-prone areas in Jigawa State, Nigeria. The study relied mainly upon survey data collected through questionnaires from 251 households (flood victims of 2016) and well-structured interviews (involving relevant government institutions and community elders). Using Descriptive Statistics as well as relevant maps, the study found several factors were responsible for persistent flooding in the selected flood-prone areas. The main factors responsible include heavy and prolonged rainfalls, inadequate drainage facilities, mismanagement of dams and reservoirs located outside Jigawa State, infiltration of river/water pathways by weeds, the topography and vegetation of the area. The study therefore, recommended the need for a proper river and dam water management system, flood education, post-flood risk assessment and greening of open spaces. The study further recommended the need for institutions responsible for flood management in Nigeria to change their approach from a reactive one to a more proactive approach.&nbsp

The objective of this study is to carry out an assessment of informal sector activities and poverty alleviation in Kebbi State, .The methods used include the chi-square test which validates the robustness of the model, the while the Z-test was used for the hypothesis testing of the variables. The logistic regression was used for the model estimation. The results of the analysis showed that taxi driving activities, income, employment, savings, assests and education are key variables necessary in poverty alleviation in Kebbi State. However, income and total assets were more impactful among the variables in reducing poverty in kebbi state. The hypothesis showed that informal sector activities has a significant relationship with poverty reduction in Kebbi State. Additionally the chi-square test revealed that the model is very robust and good for analysis. The paper concludes by recommending that Informal sector transport operators should try to earn more income to be able to put food on the table. Since a person cannot be considered living in poverty if he is able to provide himself with three square meals per day. Data collected were subjected to statistical analysis using Statistical Package for Social Scientist (SPSS) software and PLS SEM. The results indicate that training and distributve justice have no significant effect on turnover intention in Nuhu Bamalli Polytecnic, Zaria. However, the result indicates that work environment and procedural justice have a negative and significant effect on turnover intention. Based on the findings, this study contributes theoretically by extending the use of equity theory of motivation and the theory planned behaviour to increase the understanding of the relationship between motivational factors and turnover intention. Therefore, employees who experienced poor motivation and poor procedural justice are more likely to experience higher level of turnover intention. It is therefore recommended that employers, particularly in Nuhu Bamalli polytechnic, should pay close attention to staff motivation and procedural justice to lower employee turnover intentions

This paper examines the nexus between point of sale (POS), automated teller machine (ATM), mobile banking (MBK) and currency in circulation in Nigeria. Quarterly data were sourced from Central Bank of Nigeria from January 2009- September 2020. Unit root, ARDL bond test cointegration were employed as techniques of analysis. The findings reveal that, there is significant and long run relationship between the ATM, POS MBK and currency in circulation. ARDL bound test cointegration shows that, there exists a long run cointegrating relationship between the variables under investigation. The estimated coefficient of the error correction term suggests that the system (economy) may correct its previous period disequilibrium by about 49% annually. The paper recommended that Government through the CBN should formulate and improve monetarypolicies (cashless policy) aimed at encouraging and improving E-payment system in order to actualize the objective of cashless policy in Nigeria. Two hypotheses were formulated and tested. The statistical technique used was correlation analysis. The result shows that a statistically strong and positive relationship exists between mobile payments and customer satisfaction (correlation coefficient = 0.885 p < 0.05), and that artificial intelligence have significant influence on competitive advantage (correlation coefficient = 0.716 p < 0.05). This result is statistically significant as the p-value of the results (0.000) is less than 0.05 level of significance set for the study. The study concluded that mobile payment has a strong and significant impact on customer satisfaction and artificial intelligence affect competitive advantage. Therefore, the study recommended that managers should encourage their customers to make use of mobile payments for their satisfaction. The paper employed annual time series data obtained from central bank of Nigeria (CBN) statistical bulletin. Unemployment was proxied by Unemployment Rate (UMP) while fiscal policy instruments include external debt (EXD), capital expenditure (CPE), recurrent expenditure (RCE) and tax revenue (TRV). Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) Model was employed to test the long and short run relationship between the study variables. The co-integration bound test result shows that the variables are co-integrated. The result reveals that external debt, recurrent expenditure, and tax revenue have statistically insignificant impact on unemployment in Nigeria but capital expenditure was significance. Based on the findings, we recommended that since fiscal policy instruments alone cannot address the problem of unemployment, government should device and employ other measures such as; the use of monetary policy tools, establishment of a synergy between fiscal and monetary policies in Nigeria

The objective of this study is to ascertain the effect of women’s income on access to health Care Service in Benue State Nigeria .The methods used include the chi-square test which validates the robustness of the model, the CUSUM square test was used to test for the stability while the Z-test was employed for the hypothesis testing of the variables. The logistic regression was used for the model estimation. The finding revealed that income, education, Age, medical cost as well as distance are key variables necessary in influencing access to health care service in Benue state. The hypothesis (Z)- test indicates that women’s income is statistically significant on health care access predicted by the model .Furthermore, income was more impactful in influencing access to health care service hence, women who earn income have greater access to health care service on immunization, care service, disease treatment and antenatal care visits in Benue State. The result further showed that the chi-square statistic for diagnostic test showed that the regression model was robust and fit for the analysis. Get PDF
The rising profile of domestic debt in Nigeria calls for the need to reassess the effects of domestic debt stock on private sector credit, since both government and private sector borrow from the same pool. This is more important considering the sudden increase in the deposit bank holdings of domestic debt. This paper analyses the impact of domestic public debt stock on credit to private sector in Nigeria, using time series data for the period of thirty-seven (37) years (1980-2017). In analyzing the data, the paper uses Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARLD) method. The result indicates that domestic debt stock has significant negative impact on credit to private sector in Nigeria. The study concludes that domestic debt stock crowds out credit to private sector. The main recommendation of the study is that government should reduce the securitized instrument issued mostly to the banking system. This is simply because it crowds out credit to private sector, policymakers should therefore control spending, manage debt and maximize domestic revenue collection
