Grounding methodology in a 550 kv ac power transmission line in the Amazon - a case study

    Get PDF
Atmospheric discharges are indispensable for the electrical sector due to their responsibility on the shutdown of the power lines, what may trigger a sequence of events that led the interconnected electrical system to collapse. The aim of this case study is to demonstrate the development of a viable methodology in order to reduce the resistance values of the grounding system of the power lines, reducing shutdown occurrences due to returning disruptive discharges, or backflashover, mitigating the damages caused to the electrical system and to society, in order to improve the quality of the electrical power distribution. Considering the factors of implementation costs, technical environmental viability, the encompassment of this solution for other structures lines, and the reduction of the implementation percentage, it was concluded that the most adequate solution to implement a more robust grounding system in the transmission power lines is the solution 03 tested on the tower 585, with a reduction of 66,98%

The objective of this article is to discuss how gender narratives have been used in the field of advertising, seeking to understand the textual and imagery aesthetics involved in them and how they would act in the process of educating consumers on the issue. Communication and education are "volatile" fields of study, with seasonality and changing conceptualizations; thus, each new analysis represents not a theoretical objectivism based on the search for truth, but rather an addition, to the market and to the world, of a new way of thinking, understanding, and above all, transmitting messages. With this in mind and to support the theoretical discussion undertaken, two case studies of advertising campaigns were conducted, one of them international, of L\u27Oreal and the other, national of Avon brand, both using neutral language, in order to understand how and with what results the commitment to use this type of language acts in consumers’ ways of thinking and acting towards a more inclusive and egalitarian society

Special Needs Student Developing Automaticity With Multiplication Facts Six to Nine

    No full text
In previous studies, the student used skip counting and her hands to recall [1] all the multiplication facts for the ones to fives and also gained automaticity [2] for the ones to fives facts. In the current study the ninth-grade student was able to memorize the multiplication facts (0 to 10) for the sixes to nines and gained automaticity with 80% accuracy. The overall goal of the current study was to improve the student’s automaticity of multiplication facts (0-10) for the sixes through nines, such as 6 x 7 = 42. The student had been taught multiplication concepts in her elementary years and she has a basic understanding of the meaning of multiplication facts as shown in the previous studies.  She understood that 6 x 7 is a representation of six sets of seven or 7 + 7 + 7 + 7 + 7 + 7 = 42.  The student had previously used skip counting and flash cards with illustrations of the multiplication facts to memorize the facts. In the current study a multiple baseline design was used to measure the acquisition of fluency of multiplication facts over time. The student was able to develop automaticity with 80% accuracy by giving the solution within 3 seconds for all of the facts (0-10) for the sixes through nines

This research aims to analyze the factors that affect the capital structure of companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in the period 2010-2014. The variables studied were profitability, sales growth, asset structure and company size. This research is a comparative causal study. The data used is secondary data obtained from the site www.idx.co.id.The population in this study are all companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in the period 2010-2014. The sample selection is done by using purposive sampling method, so that as much as 1089 observational data are obtained. Analysis of the data used is multiple regression analysis. The results of this study indicate that the variable profitability, asset structure and firm size significantly influence the capital structure. The magnitude of the coefficient of determination (Adjusted R Square) is equal to 0.104. This means that 10.4% of the dependent variable that is capital structure can be explained by four independent variables namely profitability, sales growth, asset structure and company size. While the remaining 89.6% is explained by variables or other causes outside the model

    Get PDF
The ECHO360 Active Learning Platform (ALP) is an online active learning platform allowing the creation of interactive multimedia content for anytime student learning, with the potential for comprehensive analytics. This ALP has previously been shown to enhance student participation and engagement during in-class activities however it can be challenging to use at first. To enhance the uptake of ECHO360 ALP in and out of the classroom a simplified guide with clear instructions on the most useful aspects of the platform was developed and shared with staff, successfully creating a community of instructors. A student guide was also prepared which showcased the methods for gaining the most from its use in and out of lectures. These resources are available in the appendix

Cell death and its relationship to viral infections: What are the ways to fight viruses?

    Get PDF
Cell death is a crucial process for maintaining homeostasis and the development of the organism. They are mainly characterized by apoptosis, necrosis and autophagy, being complex processes and essences for the immune system and balance of the human organism, especially when there are infectious agents such as viruses. Therefore, a bibliographic review was carried out seeking to deepen the knowledge of cell death applied to viruses, and its possible action against COVID-19, demonstrating the action and importance of understanding and understanding cell death pathways and applying their results as therapeutic targets. The results obtained showed the individual action of cell deaths against the virus in the immune system and emphasized the understanding of cell death pathways as fundamental for the development of drugs and therapies for viral control for already known viruses and for new viruses, such as Covid -19
