    Synthesis and Confirmatory Factor Analysis of Components of Functional Competencies of Heads of Departments

    This research project has the objective of synthesizing and doing confirmatory factor analysis of components of functional competencies of Heads of Departments of secondary schools under the Office of the Basic Education Commission in Thailand. The technique of the content analysis consists of 3 steps, namely, document synthesis, making inquiries on opinions and carrying out confirmatory factor analysis. The population is the head of the learning group at the secondary school level. The sample group was the head of the learning group at the secondary school level. under the Office of the Basic Education Commission, 500 people. The findings from the research are as follows. There are 7 components, namely, 1) Professionalism Development 2) Curriculum, Measurement and Evaluation of Learning 3) Educational Innovation and Information Technology 4) Intellectual Leadership 5) Quality Management 6) Learning Organization and 7) Professional Ethic. In addition, it is also found out that the development of Heads of Departments needs the clear identification of desirable characteristics in order to develop tools, direction or model that facilitate Heads of Departments to run activities for developing functional competencies of Heads of Departments to cover all dimensions, from personnel recruitment to development and retention. From an overview of secondary schools under the Office of the Basic Education Commission in Thailand, things that are important and necessary for the development of functional competencies of the Heads of Departments of secondary schools in Thailand are the components of the model, which are essential for the planning and development of the quality of Heads of Departments in the sustainable way

    Effectiveness Imitation, Creation, and Origination Focus Learning by Using Encore to Improve Musicality and Creativity of Nasheed

    An effective learning process must be organized in a focus. Focus is the focal point of competency targets. The study examines the effect of Imitation, Creation, and Origination as a focus learning by using Encore software to musicality and creativity of Nasheed groups, which currently spreads all over Indonesia. It is important to know about the effect because popularity of Nasheed groups has not been matched by the quality of playing music adequately. By providing Encore software, it is expected that Nasheed groups could satisfy their fans. This research is an experiment research with Pre-test -Post-test Control Group randomized design. The factorial design is applied 4 x 3 factorial design. Three kinds of treatments were given to the experiment Nasheed groups. Imitation treatment was provided for beginner, creation treatment for semi-professional, and originality treatment for professional Nasheed group. Control group was given conventional learning. The sampling technique employed stratified random sampling with 26 groups which involved 262 munsyid (Nasheed player) which were divided into 131 experimental and 131 control groups. The effect of Encore software was analysed through MANCOVA analysis. The result of the research shows that the use of Encore technology could improve musicality and creativity for Nasheed group. This is indicated by the Pilae's trace value of 0.004 at 0.05% significance. However, based on multivariate analysis, the learning focus did not significantly affect creativity

    The Effect of Instructional Leadership and Creative Teaching on Student Actualization: Student Satisfaction as a Mediator Variable

    This research was carried out to determine the effect of instructional leadership and creative teaching as the main aspects in maximizing student input and potential, in order to achieve learning satisfaction and self-actualization for the educational success of students. The research examines the effect of principal instructional leadership and teaching creativity on self-actualization and its impact on student satisfaction. Across sectional study was used to determine the relationship between exogenous and endogenous variables. Respondents were 307 students on Madrasah Aliyah and Al-Kamal Kebumen Islamic Vocational High Schools, Indonesia. Data was collected using a questionnaire consisting of 4 indicators representing each variable. The research data was analyzed using structural equation modeling (SEM) with the AMOS application. Out of 5 proposed hypotheses, 1 was rejected because of not fulfilling the Critical Ratio (CR) value > 1.96 and the p-value <0.05 criteria. The results showed that this model fulfilled the Goodness of Fit requirements in SEM analysis. It was evident that principal's instructional leadership and creative teaching affects student learning satisfaction. The results also showed that the principal's instructional leadership affects student self-actualization, while creative teaching has no direct effect unless it is mediated by learning satisfaction

    Effects of Brain-Based Teaching Approach Integrated with GeoGebra (BGeo Module) on Students’ Conceptual Understanding

    The Brain-Based Teaching Approach is a strategy that implements methods from a brain-based learning (BBL) model. This approach was designed to be compatible with the inclinations and optimal functions of the individual brain to ensure that students can learn effectively. The module uses the Brain-Based Teaching Approach integrated with GeoGebra Software (B-Geo Module) to help students’ conceptual understanding of the topic of differentiation. Therefore, this study aims to explore the possible effects of the Brain-Based Teaching Approach with the integration of GeoGebra Software on conceptual understanding of the topic of differentiation in rural secondary schools in Malaysia. This study used a quasidesign of pre-test and post-test experiments involving 118 form 4 students from rural secondary schools. The researchers used cluster sampling techniques for school selection and intact group for sample selection. The school selection was divided into two groups, namely, the control group using conventional information and communication technology (ICT) modules and the experimental group using the B-Geo Module. The instrument used was the Conceptual Understanding Test of Differentiation. The results of the data analysis show that the conceptual understanding of the topic of differentiation amongst rural secondary school students increased when using the Brain-Based Teaching Approach with the integration of GeoGebra Software

    Contemporary Perspective on Cognitive Development: Reconceptualising Situational Context as Embedded Model

    Educational societies encountered rapid development in all fields of knowledge, assisted by the invention of new technologies and development of linguistic systems. Over time, researchers contribute to design well known instructional models such as traditional-based and inquiry-based models. However, the previous literature investigations showed that most of the instructional models run into some limitations and challenges in the context of learning, whereas, traditional-based and inquiry-based were the dominant figures. The present study invested in exploring the process of translation concerning the cognitive challenges which translators encounter during translation activity. It contributes to develop an embedded situational context model for enhancing translators’ cognitive performance through deploying four functional concepts from translation approach in systemic functional linguistics. A mixed-method approach is implemented by conducting thinking aloud experiment operated by two translation task and followed with retrospective interview to attain this goal. Conversely, a questionnaire on selfconfidence and participants’ translations are used for the quantitative evaluations. Consequently, the shortcomings associated with the cognitive process of translation were surmounted. Thus, the functional concepts of the developed embedded model were incorporated to build, enhance, and validate background knowledge and cognitive skills of translators during translation activity toward professional translation practice

    The Effect of the Conflict Resolution Learning Model and Portfolio Assessment on the Students’ Learning Outcomes of Civic Education

    This study was aimed at investigating the effect of the conflict resolution learning model and portfolio assessment on students’ learning outcome in civic education. This study was a quasi-experimental study using a sample of 120 students selected by applying multistage random sampling technique. This study used a 2x2 factorial design. The data were analysed by using ANOVA. The results showed that the civic education learning outcomes of the students who learned using the conflict resolution learning model were better than those of the students who learned using the conventional learning model, and the civic education learning outcomes of the students who were assessed using portfolio assessment were not different to those of the students who were assessed using objective assessment. Based on these findings, it is suggested that civic education lecturers, to improve the learning outcomes of the students in that subject, need to use appropriate learning models

    Appropriate Internet Use Behavior (AIUB) of Thai Preservice Teachers: A Hierarchical Linear Model (HLM) Analysis

    This study reports on Thai preservice teachers' appropriate Internet use behavior (AIUB) in 30 tertiary institutions across Thailand. The sample used both multistage random sampling and stratified random sampling to select the study’s 1,800 participants which were grouped into two academic disciplines related to information and communications technology (ICT) and non-ICT disciplines. A questionnaire was used to identify both the internal and external factors, in which item reliability was judged to be 0.83 - 0.92. The HLM 7 software program was used to analyze the two-tiered linear model on pre-service teacher AIUB. Three types of two-tier models were evaluated, one with a dependent variable, a second model with student-level independent variables, and a third model using independent variables at both the student level and the school level. Data were analyzed employing average statistics ( ) and standard deviation using IBM SPSS Version 21 software. The HLM 7 software was used for the analysis of the three HLMs classified by ICT and non-ICT disciplines. Results revealed that each preservice teacher's abilities, characteristics, home/family situation, and their friends/classmates were predictive parameters that influenced the models, confirming the importance of these four variables in positively influencing preservice teacher AIUB

    Studying Future Educational Psychologists’ Readiness for Innovation Management Competencies in Universities of Kazakhstan

    The aim of the research is to analyze the professional readiness of future high school educational psychologists for innovative management activities. The effectiveness of innovation management activities in the educational environment depends on educational psychologists’ acquired competencies. The experimental study included a survey of 320 graduate students majoring in Pedagogy and Psychology at eight leading Kazakhstani universities and regional experts’ assessment on the readiness of graduates for innovative managerial work in educational institutions. The sampling technique used to select the sample audience is the convenience based, exponential non- discriminative snowball sampling where the initial subjects are recruited from campus or through social groups based on ease of accessibility and the rest are selected based on referrals made by the selected students. The article reveals the importance of the personality component of educational psychologists’ professional readiness for innovative management. In addition, it gives an expert assessment of the effectiveness of training educational psychologists for innovative management in educational institutions. Studying the future educational psychologists’ readiness for innovative managerial competencies remains relevant for researchers. It is associated with the need for purposeful investigation and formation of professional competencies according to general patterns and alterations in vocational training in higher educational institutions. In this regard, educational psychologists’ training with managerial competencies should become one of the priority directions of practical psychology development in Kazakhstan

    Teachers’ and Students’ Attitudes Toward Online Physics Education During the COVID-19 Pandemic in UAE

    Since the detection of first cases of Covid-19 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) the education system has faced drastic changes after schools’ closure in response to the pandemic. UAE schools started teaching online as an alternative measure without stoppage to limit exposure. This study uses a cross-sectional descriptive design to examine teachers' and students' attitudes toward online Physics education in the UAE after four months of teaching and learning online. Cross-sectional participants included 418 secondary school students and 58 physics teachers who had to rely on online education to deliver their instruction during the 2020-2021 academic year in one of the major cities in the UAE. Using comparative method to compare the attitudes of students and physics teachers, based on various categorical groups, indicated that statistically significant differences in attitudes exist between public and private schools’ students. However, there were no statistically significant differences in attitudes of physics teachers’ groups toward using online education to deliver their instruction. On the other hand, there were statistically significant differences in attitudes among students based on gender. The findings of this study were discussed within the recent educational reforms introduced in the UAE and they are likely expected to impact not only physic teaching and learning but also future online educational practices in general

    Development and Validation Peaceful Classroom Scale: Rasch Model Analysis

    Year after year, the rate of violence among students rises. This is a conundrum because the phenomenon has already began to appear in high school. It is uncommon since a violent culture has a direct influence on students’ academic success as well as several non-academic psychological characteristics. The study aimed to validate and develop a peaceful classroom scale. This study took place in Indonesia between 2020 and 2021, with 406 junior high school students (176 men and 230 females) participating by simple random sampling. A quantitative research methodology was used to analyze a survey design that distributes 25 items on a 5- point Likert scale. The data analysis used the common factor analysis technique and Rasch model, "i.e.," Winsteps software version 3.73. Study results show 24 valid items, and the answer choices can be 4 or 7 points. As the representation of interaction between the person and the items as a whole, the Cronbach Alpha value is 0.94, which is in the excellent category. Furthermore, the person dependability rating is 0.82, which falls into the very good category as a reflection of the consistency of the participant's responses. This scale meets the criteria because it already has good psychometric properties so that it can be used to investigate peaceful classrooms at the junior high school level
