The German Longitudinal Election Study (GLES) is the central infrastructure project in Germany for the continuous collection and provision of high-quality data for national and international election research. The methodologically diverse surveys of the GLES enable the research of political attitudes and behavior of voters and candidates. Since its foundation, the GLES has been conducted in close cooperation between the German Society for Electoral Research (DGfW) and GESIS – Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences. Sample A of the GLES Panel consists of quota-based selections of eligible German voters from several non-probability online panels, divided into five subsamples. Participants in the 2017 election campaign surveys were drawn from the main sample A1 (2016), the recontact sample A2 (2013), and the refreshment sample A3 (2017) of the GLES Short-term Campaign Panel 2017. Sample A was further supplemented by refreshment samples A4 for the 2021 election campaign (2020) and A5 for the 2025 election campaign (2024). For the early federal election in 2025, active participants were surveyed up to five times throughout the election campaign and after the federal election. The GLES Panel surveys continue to enable diverse and in-depth analyses of the impact of political events and election campaigns on changes in political attitudes and decision-making processes. The Profile Wave A5 comprises questions on general political and societal attitudes, positions on political and social issues, evaluations of political candidates, parties, and institutions, as well as voting behavior, political knowledge, media usage, personal values, personality traits, and socio-demographic characteristics of the respondents.

Kaikkien vastaajien toimintakykyä selvitettiin kysymällä kykenevätkö tutkittavat liikkumaan sisällä, kävelemään 400 metriä, kulkemaan portaissa, pukeutumaan, ja pääsevätkö he vuoteesta. Sairastavuutta selvitettiin kysymällä, onko tutkittavilla lääkärin toteamia sairauksia ja millaiseksi he arvioivat oman terveydentilansa. Vitality 90+ is a multidisciplinary research project examining living arrangements, health and functional ability, quality of life, care needs and everyday life of the oldest old individuals in the city of Tampere, Finland. Participants living at home were asked who they live with and whether someone helps them at home with tasks such as dressing, bathing, and cooking. Personal assistance was further investigated by asking who helps the most at home in daily life and whether a home care worker visits at least once a week. Additionally, participants were asked what they consider to be the best form of housing in their current situation. The functional ability of all respondents was assessed by asking if they can move indoors, walk 400 meters, climb stairs, dress themselves, and get in and out of bed. Morbidity was investigated by asking if the participants have any doctor-diagnosed diseases and how they rate their own health. Information was also collected on the participants' vision and hearing abilities, as well as symptoms such as fatigue, dizziness, and pain. The social relationships of the participants were examined by asking about their marital status and mapping out when they last met their children, talked on the phone with relatives or friends, or went outdoors. Socioeconomic status was investigated by asking what occupation the participants held for most of their working life and their highest level of education completed. Finally, participants were asked how satisfied they are with their lives, whether they feel lonely, and if the status of older people has changed since their childhood. Since proxy respondents were allowed in the study, participants were also asked whether they had completed the survey themselves. Background variables in the dataset include the participant's gender, marital status, and education

The GESIS Panel provides a probability-based mixed-mode access panel infrastructure located at GESIS Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences in Mannheim, Germany. The project offers the social science community an opportunity to collect survey data from a representative sample of the German population. Submitted study proposals are evaluated based on a scientific review process. Panel members were initially recruited in 2013 in face-to-face interviews followed by a self-administered profile survey. The mode was chosen by the participants. All participants of the profile survey are considered as members of the panel and invited to the bi-monthly regular waves. The starting cohort encompassed 4900 panelists at the beginning of 2014. In order to compensate for panel attrition, a refreshment sample was drawn in 2016, using the General Social Survey (ALLBUS) interview as vehicle. The initial cohort encompasses German speaking respondents aged between 18 and 70 years (at the time of recruitment) and permanently residing in Germany, whereas the second cohort includes respondents from the age of 18 without upper restriction. In 2018 a third recruitment sample was drawn, which was integrated with the wave ge. The third cohort also includes respondents aged 18 and over without an upper limit. Retroactively, cases up to and including wave fc (third wave from 2018) were added to the data. The Data Manual (ZA5664-65_sd_data-manual) has been reissued and there is a corresponding recruitment report (ZA5664-65_mb_recruitment2018). The ALLBUS Sample is based on a disproportional sampling of respondents from the western and eastern part of Germany. A design weight that enables integration of the two recruitment cohorts is included into the dataset. For more details, please see the methods reports of the recruitment processes and die GESIS Panel reference paper (Bosnjak et al., 2017). In March 2020, a special GESIS panel survey was conducted on the SARS-CoV-2 resp. COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak in Germany. In 2021, the fourth recruitment sample was drawn using the German International Social Survey Programme (ISSP), which was integrated with wave ja. The fourth cohort also includes respondents aged 18 and older with no upper limit. For more information, see the corresponding recruitment report (ZA5664-65_r_i12.pdf). In 2023, the fifth recruitment sample was drawn using the German European Social Survey (ESS Round 11), which was integrated with the wave la. The fifth cohort includes respondents aged 18 and over with no upper limit. For more information, see the corresponding recruitment report (ZA5664-65_r_k12.pdf). The SOM survey in West Sweden has been conducted yearly since 1992. The survey was initially limited to residents of Gothenburg and its surrounding municipalities. In 1998, the survey was extended to include the entire Västra Götaland County plus the municipality of Kungsbacka. The purpose of the regional surveys is to enable SOM researchers to study attitudes and behavior linked to local and regional issues. They emphasise public services and media, although many of the questions are identical with those used in National SOM in order to make the answers comparable both between the regions and with Sweden at large. The Super-West SOM contains data from the SOM survey in West Sweden surveys from 1992. The data contains a selection of questions frequently asked over the years, focusing on time series. The purpose of the regional surveys is to enable researchers to study attitudes and behaviour linked to local and regional issues. The dataset has changed somewhat in relation to the codebook, in order to reduce the risk of re-identification.
