    No full text
This study aims to explain the impact of MNE-driven development on inequalities with a focus on job opportunities for men and women in emerging countries and to highlight the importance of gender issues in global development indicators. Specifically, it aims to answer the following question: How have MNEs in Colombia contributed to the creation of job inequalities for men and women in the country? The case study methodology was used to address this question using secondary sources such as databases and reports available on the internet. The results show that FDI in emerging countries has unforeseen outcomes that affect the economies and well-being of their populations due to the lack of assimilative capacities of local governments, poor regulations and weak infrastructures for democratization of opportunities and resources, which increases gender inequalities. No aplic

    International Business Studies and Distance

    No full text
When managers decide to internationalize their companies, they face the challenge of selecting the appropriate market to sell their products and services. In this scenario, the concept of geographical, cultural, economic and administrative distance between home and host countries is a key factor to analyze. This bibliometric analysis aims to revise the available literature on the role of distance in international business. Findings from a bibliometric analysis of 315 papers explain the applications and limitations of each type of distance (cultural, administrative, geographic and economic). This study reveals that the concept adapts to the societies and authors who study it as well as the context in which it exists. Additionally, it may have a positive or negative impact on businesses’ and industries’ strategic decisions at various levels. These findings have different implications for scholars and practitioners since the different dimensions of distance should be analyzed in several contexts that result in different performance outcomes in international business. No aplic
