< Research Notes >Utilization of "Easy Japanese" in Medical Communication: From interview research with medical students
Full text link在住外国人にとって、日本語でのコミュニケーションに最も困難を抱える場面の１つが病院である。本調査は医療現場における「やさしい日本語」の活用を目的とし、医学生を対象に診察場面のロールプレイおよび振り返りのインタビューを実施した。分析の結果、医学生が非専門家とコミュニケーションを取る際に用いている工夫や感じる葛藤について、以下の４点が示唆された。１）患者が日本語母語話者であっても、専門用語や外来語に関して「やさしい日本語」と類似した言い換え表現が用いられている。２）患者のキャラクターに応じて情報の取捨選択が行われている。３）重篤な病気については直接的な表現をするか否か、葛藤が見られる。４）不確実な状況については「現時点で判断できること」に焦点をおいて情報提供がされている。Hospitals pose significant communication challenges for foreign residents in Japan. This study aims to enhance the application of "Easy Japanese" in the medical field by involving medical students in role-playing of clinical examinations and conducting reflective interviews on their experiences. The results of the analysis yielded four points regarding the strategies and the conflicts encountered by medical students when communicating with non-professionals: 1) Even when patients are native Japanese speakers paraphrases similar to "Easy Japanese" are used for technical terms and foreign words; 2) Information selection is tailored based on individual patient character; 3) Conflicts arise regarding the use of direct expressions for serious illnesses; and 4) Uncertain situations are addressed by emphasizing real-time judgment during information provision.departmental bulletin pape
< Reports >Workshop-Type "Yasashii Nihongo" Training for Citizens
Full text link本稿は茨城県神栖市の地域住民を対象とした「やさしい日本語」研修の報告である。茨城県神栖市では外国人住民の増加を背景にコミュニケーション手段として「やさしい日本語」の認知度の向上が課題であった。そこで、「やさしい日本語」の周知と理解の促進、継続的にコミュニケーションを楽しむことを目的に、ワークショップ型「やさしい日本語」研修を実施した。研修では「やさしい日本語」に関する講義のほか、Webツールを使った書き換え、相手の関心に合わせた情報を「やさしい日本語」で伝えるワークショップなどをおこなった。研修後の参加者アンケートの結果からは、一定の評価が得られ、実践的な活動を通して理解を深められたと考える。一方で、外国人との接触頻度など背景が異なる参加者への対応方法や外国人住民への周知・参加の対応方法などには課題も残った。This is a report on a training course "Yasashii Nihongo" for the citizens of Kamisu City Ibaraki Prefecture which aimed to raise awareness of "Yasashii Nihongo" as a means of communication with the increasing number of foreign residents in the city. In addition to lectures the training included workshops on rewriting activities using web tools and paraphrasing information in "Yasashii Nihongo" according to individual interests. The results of the participants' questionnaires showed that the participants were able to deepen their understanding through practical workshop activities. On the other hand some issues remained that require attention to meet the diverse needs and backgrounds of the participants as well as to promote the awareness and participation of foreign residents.departmental bulletin pape
