مجموعة موسيقى العالم العربي في أرشيف برلين للتسجيل الصوتي
No full textتثير مجموعات موسيقى العالم العربي الموجودة في أرشيف برلين للتسجيل الصوتي الاهتمام، فقوامها الإجمالي ثلاثون، وهي تشغل عددا كبيرا من أسطوانات الشمع، لأن الموسيقى العربية لم تكن على رأس الاهتمامات في أرشيف برلين للتسجيل الصوتي في البداية، إذ اقتصر الأمر على عدد قليل فقط من المجموعات الموسيقية من العالم العربي إلى غاية عام 1918، لكن رغم ذلك، خصصت أبحاث موسعة لها حينها (انظر مقال Hornbostel 1906-7 حول الموسيقى التونسية). ولقد رفعت التسجيلات المنجزة في مخيمات أسرى الحرب خلال الحرب العالمية الأولى من حجم المجموعات، كما بلغ العمل الميداني في البلدان العربية ذروته حوالي عام 1930 بفضل التسجيلات التي قام بها روبرت لاخمان Robert Lachmann باعتباره وجها بارزا، إلى جانب عدة علماء آخرين مرتبطين بمدرسة برلين لعلم الموسيقى المقارن. إن هذا البحث يقدم نظرة شاملة على مجموعات العالم العربي في أرشيف برلين للتسجيل الصوتي ووضعيتها ومحتواها، كما يسلط الضوء على الجوانب الخاصة فيها مقارنة بمجموعات المناطق الأخرى من العالم، ناهيك عن أنه يقدم معلومات حول الجامعين وخلفياتهم ودوافعهم وعملهم الميداني، وذلك بالاستناد على الوثائق التاريخية الخاصة بالمجموعات

Interrogating "Access to Waxes" – Introductory Remarks on the Collections from the Arab World of the Berlin Phonogramm-Archiv
No full textThis paper contextualizes the “Access to Waxes” workshop and publications within the broader context of the ongoing debates in ethnomusicology and related disciplines about the ethics and politics of historical sound recordings, archives, acoustic memory, cultural rights, intellectual property, musical repatriation, and access. Selected initiatives on the topic spearheaded by the two major scholarly societies focusing on the transdisciplinary study of music, the ICTMD and the Society for Ethnomusicology, are referred to. The contribution also critically evaluates the categorization and labeling of music in archives (like the term “Arab/Arabic music”) and emphasizes the need for a critical study of historical sound recordings like the collections of the Berlin Phonogrammarchiv. This would involve collaboration with source communities and local institutions ideally leading to the development of shared research practices and creating the conditions to access, revitalize, and sustain their musical heritage
