In a dynamic socio-economic world, perceiving a career opportunity and job prospects has become complex. The number of unemployed individuals is rising despite the increasing number of students pursuing higher education. This study is suggested to enhance students’ professional insertion, guide their career development initiatives, and help them acquire the skills demanded by prospective employers, thereby increasing their likelihood of employment. For this goal, this study investigates the determinants impacting self-perceived employability (SPE) among engineering students. Following a quantitative approach to explain how personal and contextual factors impact perceived employability, more than 350 Moroccan engineering students responded to a questionnaire for data collection, which had an internal consistency of 0.90. Data analysis employing advanced statistical techniques using structural equations modeling (SEM) to conduct descriptive, regression, and mediation analysis. The findings highlight that academic performance, university contribution, and personal circumstances significantly influence perceived employability, while generic skills have a minor effect. Furthermore, personal determinants are identified as stronger than contextual ones. The results provide several recommendations to stakeholders such as university administrations, teaching staff, employers, the Ministry of Education, and graduates. Additionally, they offer an insightful exploration of the intricate interactions among factors that enhance employability

    Get PDF
This paper conducts a need analysis study to identify the requirements for developing a competency model for teachers implementing game-based learning (GBL) in Chinese secondary schools. Additionally, it investigates the practices and challenges of teachers while implementing this pedagogical approach. Through a quantitative survey involving 384 teachers, key findings reveal significant challenges, such as technological issues, limited instructional time, a lack of high-quality games aligned with the curriculum, and inadequate teacher training. The majority of teachers expressed a positive attitude towards game-based learning but reported limited classroom usage due to these obstacles. The results highlight the need for the development of a competency model tailored to game-based learning teachers, emphasizing the importance of structured training opportunities. Such a model would provide essential guidance and support, enabling teachers to enhance their competencies and effectively integrate game-based learning into their teaching practices. Consequently, the next step of this research is to design and develop a comprehensive competency model that encompasses both technological and pedagogical skills, which will aim to enhance teacher preparedness and improve the integration of game-based learning in education, ultimately benefiting student engagement and learning outcomes

Incorporating knowledge of culture and local wisdom values (ethnosciences) into scientific investigation is a new breakthrough in the current study. The integration of ethnosciences and scientific investigation is a valuable pathway that serves not only as a tool for acquiring new knowledge but also for developing critical thinking (CT) skills essential in solving real-world problems. This research aims to enhance CT skills among prospective science teachers (PSTs) through a teaching program that integrates ethnosciences with inquiry-creative learning. This particular investigation employs a mixed method approach, combining both quantitative and qualitative methods. The quantitative study utilized a randomized pretest-posttest control group design, with traditional expository teaching employed as the comparison group. Qualitative methods were specifically used in this study through semi-structured interviews with lecturer, particularly regarding the PSTs’ engagement in the implementation of learning program. CT skill tests and interview forms were used as data collection instruments. The study findings reveal that integrating ethnosciences with inquiry-creative learning has a significant effect on the development of CT skills compared to traditional instruction. The findings highlight the effectiveness of this approach in improving CT skills among PSTs and contribute to future research in the field of science education

    Get PDF
This research aimed at analyzing the history of psychological testing in three Asian countries (Kazakhstan, China, and Japan) in a comparative chronological aspect. A modern trend of interest in population psychodiagnostics was examined, considering a sample of university professors from the studied countries. The study had two stages: theoretical (cross-cultural analysis of the chronological development of psychodiagnostics in three countries) and experimental (in-depth interviews with professors). The study population was 72 respondents. As a result, two periods of psychodiagnostics were distinguished in each country: prescientific and scientific. The general factors influencing the historical development of psychological testing were: i) country’s history and influence of wartime; ii) positive and negative influence of ideology (communist and capitalist) on the psychometrics’ development; iii) the history of psychology and testing in particular, its methodology and methods; iv) the emergence of regional trends in the cooperation and countries’ level of publicity. Consequently, based on the interview, the testing of career interests and individual career guidance significantly dominated in China (4.8) while in Japan it was testing of interpersonal relationships (4.9). The present study may be in demand in future research to develop specific questionnaires and methods for studying the population considering national and historical characteristics
