Evaluation of Patient Renal Function Following Endovascular Aneurysm Repair with Suprarenal Fixation
This study aimed to assess the mid-term renal function of abdominal aortic aneurysm patients following suprarenal endovascular repair. From March 2005 to December 2009, 290 abdominal aortic aneurysm patients were included in the study and grouped according to whether they had received infrarenal or suprarenal endovascular aneurysm repair. Suprarenal endovascular aneurysm repair was performed in 173 patients, with a mean age of 72(±8) years (85.0% male). Infrarenal endovascular aneurysm repair was performed in 117 patients, with a mean age of 71(±9) years (90.6% male). Preoperative and one week, 1-, 3-, 6- and 12-month postoperative serum creatinine and cystatin C values were recorded. Estimated glomerular filtration rate was calculated by cystatin-based formula and Cr-based Cockcroft formula. The t-test was used to determine statistical differences between or within groups. All patients received Talent or Zenith endograft. Patients’ characteristics and operative files in the two groups were well matched. Preoperative serum creatinine and cystatin C were 82 (±8) mmol/L and 0.89 (±0.11) mg/L for suprarenal endovascular aneurysm repair, respectively, and 81 (±11) mmol/L and 0.87 (±0.15) mg/L, respectively, for infrarenal endovascular aneurysm repair; no differences were observed between the two groups. Compared to preoperative renal markers within each group, a deterioration in serum creatinine, cystatin C and estimated glomerular filtration rate values was found at one week and 12 months after surgery(p < 0.05). A deterioration in cystatin C [SR:(0.93 ± 0.17) mg/L, IR: (0.92 ± 0.31) mg/L] and estimated glomerular filtration rate by cystatin C was also found at six months after surgery(p < 0.05). However, no differences in patient serum creatinine, cystatin C and estimated glomerular filtration rate values were observed between groups at each follow-up time interval. There was no greater significant difference in the association of the use of suprarenal fixation with midterm postoperative renal injury than with infrarenal fixation

Optimization of Vacuum System Energy Consumption in an Industrial Environment
Greenhouse emissions are increasing, and the future of the earth and humanity is at stake. Many governmentsin the worldhave committed to reducecarbon emissions. At the United Nations ClimateChange Conference (COP21) in Paris, France, an agreement has been reached to hold the increase in the global average temperature to well below 2°C above pre-industrial levels.Vacuum systems are very present in industry (agrifood, pharmaceuticals, chemicals) and energy consumers. There is a lack inthe literature on this subject.This study includes an in-depth analysis of the possibilities for reducing energy consumption on vacuum systems and the financial savingsas well.It is demonstrated that energyconsumption can be reducedbetween 90% and 99%(depending on the application)
Review on Energy Audit: Benefits, Barriers, and Opportunities
Energy audit is one lever to reduce carbon emissions of an organization (industrial site, residential building etc.;). This paper explores the energy audit savings tendance, barriers, challenges, and opportunities through an extensive review of the literature. Different variant of the methodology can be found in the literature and one aim of this research is to make a synthesis (from the most relevant variant). Energy audit can be adapted to the size and context of the organization thanks to the different levels of audits. Different cases studies are also included in this article that highlights the benefits of the energy audit. Other aspects are studied such as tools to use during audit and competencies and experience of auditors. Several barriers should be removed progressively to add more benefits to this sustainable lever. A list of opportunities has been identified and should be subject to further research

Energy Performance Management in an Industrial Site: Definition and Application of a Specific Methodology for Carbon Emissions Reduction
Global warming continues to accelerate. It is essential that we all (individuals, government, organizations, etc.) make sustainable action for reducing carbon emissions for the future of the planet and for the next generation. The global decarbonization is now on the top list for every government, public institu- tion, and private company. This article contains a strategy to manage energy performance in an industrial site based on the research in an industrial pharmaceutical company in France. Most of the principles also apply to non- industrial sites (e.g., administrative buildings). Several linked thematic are developed such as organization, culture, communication, partnership, audits, project management, cost control, metering, targeting, and monitoring. The concept of sobriety is also studied in this article. The implementation and the adaptation of an energy performance management through the years has led to divide by 2 the carbon emissions (and costs) of the site in this study
A Case Study on Sustainable Production and Use of Compressed Air in European Industrial Sites of Medium-sized
Due to the urgency in climate change, the industry is mobilized to reduce its greenhouse gases. Compressed air represents nearly 10% of electricity used in industry. The research was carried out in an industrial food site in Europe. This research includes a case study and gives a specific approach and methodology to optimize environmental and economic impact of compressed air production and uses in an industrial site. The installation of this case study contains different type of compressed air, dryers, and filters. Each equipment has been subject to specific monitoring and analysis. Several actions have been identified for reducing carbon emissions by 69 tons such as: reduction of the compressed air pressure of the system, isolation of packaging lines when they are not running, implementation of pumps for vacuum generation on packaging lines, installation of smart management device and a heat recovery system. Financial savings are around 44 000 euros, and the average payback is below 3 years
