Ayurveda and Endocrinology: Common Ground, Common Goals
In this editorial, we explore Ayurvedic concepts of health, and analyze how they relate to modern endocrinology. We expand our discussions to inclusion of other South Asian schools of medicine, as well as philosophical and metaphysical models of South Asian thought. A detailed assessment suggests that Ayurveda is based upon sound endocrine and metabolic foundation, which can serve as a framework for person-centered, integrative management of modern pandemics such as diabetes, obesity and other endocrine disorders. We call for awareness and understanding of the common ground, as well as common goals of Ayurveda and modern endocrinology

Cushing Syndrome Caused by Pituitary and Adrenal Hybrid Tumor: A Rare Case Report
Introduction: Cushing syndrome is a rare endocrine disorder caused by a variety of underlying etiologies. It can be due to exogenous or endogenous high cortisone levels (ACTH-dependent or ACTH-independent). We herein report a case of ACTHdependent Cushing syndrome caused by pituitary and adrenal hybrid adenoma. Case report: A 42-year-old female presented with a complaint of hematemesis. She had hirsutism, central obesity and violaceous striae on her abdomen and thigh. On detailed clinical examination and relevant investigation, we found that the cause of hematemesis was esophagitis with necrotic gastric ulcer due to Cushing syndrome caused by the pituitary and adrenal hybrid adenoma. Discussion: Cushing syndrome is a rare endocrine disorder characterized by increased exogenous or endogenous serum cortisol levels, which lead to various clinical presentations. Early identification of the disease and its cause is critical. The entire clinical presentation must be considered for correct diagnosis, which is generally delayed due to the overlapping symptoms of the disease with various specialities. Conclusion: Diagnosis and management of Cushing’s syndrome continues to present considerable challenges and necessitates referral to higher centers. Its diverse presentation warrants a complete clinical, physical, radiological and endocrine examination
An Interesting Case of Pulmonary Tuberculosis with Hypoxemic Respiratory Failure Mimicking Interstitial Lung Disease
Hypoxemic respiratory failure is a rare presentation of active pulmonary tuberculosis (TB). Though tuberculous acuterespiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is well documented in medical literature, non-ARDS respiratory failure is seldomreported in active pulmonary TB. We herein report a case, which posed a diagnostic dilemma as it clinically mimickedinterstitial lung disease. Imaging showed unilateral localized smooth interlobular septal thickening along with consolidationwithout significant mediastinal lymphadenopathy. To the best of our knowledge, this rare radiological finding has not beenreported in medical literature as being associated with hypoxemic respiratory failure in pulmonary TB patients
