Analyzing the Motives of US Foreign Policy in Iraq
Get PDFTwenty years have passed since the US occupation of Iraq, yet the deployment of the US military in the Middle Eastern country remains today. Initially, the US argued that the primary aim for invasion was the disarmament of the mass weapons (WMD). Further on, they claimed that the intervention was to help establish the Iraq democracy. The final justification for the troops to stay was to combat ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria). This raises the question, what are the true motives of the US foreign policy in Iraq? This research was conducted using a qualitative method by analyzing textual data from the previous studies, official documents, and media reports. The data are analyzed using foreign policy theory related to national interests. The findings of this study indicate that the main motive why the US military continue to exist in Iraq is to maintain its power and hegemony in the region. Digital Slavery in Tiktok Social Media Christian Fuchs Perspective
Get PDFInitially, the practice of slavery was known as physical violence, this is commonplace in several countries that used to be very thick with the practice of slavery, this era actually transmits various new forms of exploitation, especially through digital media. This article discusses the practice of digital slavery on social media TikTok. The large number of begging practices on social media TikTok indicates an act of exploitation unnoticed by those who do it, this can be referred to as the practice of slavery.This research uses a netnography qualitative descriptive method by tracing and analyzing accounts that often live stream on TikTok by selling themselves. This article wants to answer some of the following questions. First, what is Christian Fuchs' view of the practice of slavery? Second, how is the model of digital slavery on social media TikTok. The results of this study show First, that Fuchs views digital media as having shaped the exploitation and commodification of social media, social media often utilizes data and content generated by users as a source of economic value. In this context, social media users are often unpaid "laborers", as they indirectly contribute to creating value for the platform, but rarely get the equivalent in return. China as an Alternative Source of FDI: Analyzing The Cases in Indonesia

This can be observed in its move as investors to countries on the Asia and Africa continents, a position used to be dominated by western countries and institutions, as seen in the International Monetary Fund . However, China’s rising economy and influence have allowed itself to become an alternative source of funding for many countries formerly dependent on the International Monetary Fund, on other western related countries or on particular institutions due to the restrictions the loans carry. Countries such as Indonesia views China as an alternate source for their foreign direct investment, manifested in the construction of the Indonesian High Speed Rail project, the projects of Huawei, and in the Indonesian energy sector. China’s potency to enter into and expand in Indonesia is supported by the lack of restrictions towards the funding, if compared to the ones provided by western institutions. As a result, China has successfully presented itself as an alternate choice for many countries who wish to seek financial support to further their development

Get PDFRussia's military attack on the legal territory of Ukraine is considered to be a serious threat to the national interests of the countries on the European continent. Prior to the military attack which Russia calls a “Special Military Operation” starting on February 24, 2022, various efforts to resolve the conflict have been taken by Europe, the United Nations, and other international relations actors. Britain is one of the countries that is actively pursuing diplomacy to stop Russia's actions, which the West calls an illegal invasion. In carrying out its foreign policy, the UK practices Coercive Diplomacy, namely diplomacy with pressure on Russia. This was marked by an ultimatum accompanied by economic, political and military sanctions against Russia. This study uses a qualitative research method based on secondary data from various credible sources and the conceptual theory put forward by Alexander L. George (1971) as the first initiator of the Concept of Coercive Diplomacy. Therefore, this research raises the research question How does Britain apply British Coercive Diplomacy towards Russia as a Conflict Resolution effort?” and will be answered using the characteristics given by Alexander L. George in the concept of Limited Power in Coercive Diplomacy
A Analysis of Digital Transformation in Public Services (Case Study: Banyumas Regency Public Service Mall)
Get PDFThe application of e-government in the form of information technology in government institutions is an effort to revitalize the implementation of public administration tasks and functions in policy management or service delivery. One of how public management is implemented through the concept of e-government is implemented in the Public Service Mall, which in the process cannot be separated from digital transformation. Digital transformation in public services refers to processes and strategies that use digital technology to realize services that are clean, transparent, and can respond effectively to changing demands. This research was conducted using a qualitative descriptive approach. This research analysis uses the theory of digital transformation of public services which is used as a measuring instrument to determine the implementation of digital transformation in public services at the Banyumas Regency Public Service Mall referring to six dimensions. The data collection technique was carried out using a literature study so that primary data was obtained from various literatures online. The results of the study reveal that most of the dimensions of digital transformation in Banyumas Public Service Mall services are considered very good. Four dimensions, namely the dimensions of Accessibility, Awareness, Accountability, Origin of data, privacy, and fairness, are considered very good. Shedding Light on the Management of School Operational Assistance (SOA) Fund Effectiveness: a Case Study of State Basic Education Level in Demak Regency
Get PDFSchool Operational Assistance (SOA) Fund is one of the educational funds in Indonesia. Based on the APBN Financial Note, the management of the SOA fund is still not optimal, and there are still many misuses of the SOA fund by various parties. Therefore, it is necessary to apply the good governance principles in the management of the SOA fund. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the management of the SOA fund, which is influenced by good governance, namely transparency, accountability, participation, and responsibility. The object of this study is the management of the SOA fund at the level of state basic education in Demak Regency, which consists of State Elementary Schools and State Junior High Schools. The data source of this research is primary data using a questionnaire. There are 494 respondents in this research. The respondents are headmasters, school treasurers, teachers, and other parties in school. The study results show that the SOA fund at the level of state basic education in Demak Regency has been managed effectively. The study results also show that all independent variables simultaneously have a positive effect on the effectiveness of the management of the SOA fund. Partially, transparency does not affect the effectiveness of SOA fund management, while accountability, participation, and responsibility have a positive effect on the effectiveness of the management of SOA fund
English Loanwords in Tamil: Fix Illicit Consonant Clusters
Get PDFLoanword adaptation has long proved field as an intriguing object of study. Loanword borrowing often takes place within languages to fill the glossary of the new terminology. The direction of borrowing is primarily linked to the sociolinguistic status of a language in a community. In the scenario of Malaysia, Malay as a national language and English as a global language plays an essential role in the process of loanword adaptation, technologically, culturally and politically. English and Tamil languages have two disparate grammatical elements. Some grammatical rules accepted in English is illicit in Tamil. In particular, consonant clusters in the English language are prohibited in Tamil. Therefore, words borrowed from English into Tamil are subject to choose one of these two contradictory rules, whether adapt the consonant cluster in its authenticity or repairing to satisfy the grammar of the recipient language. The study results show that some borrowed English loan words obey Tamil grammar, while others violate the rules. This raises questions about the adaptation process's possible representational versus phonetic underpinnings. This paper examines the phonetic adaptation of English loanwords in Tamil adaptation, focusing primarily on the process of vowel epenthesis. It finds that the place features of the epenthetic vowel overcome illegal consonant clusters. The paper concludes that the language-specific phonological phenomena are central to this process. Data for this research were obtained from Tamil short stories (2000-2016). Many studies have been conducted to examine loanword adaptation in Malaysian Tamil. The Importance of Improving Service Quality for Customer Satisfaction: A Case Study of Bank Muamalat in Bogor City
Get PDFThe development of the banking world in Indonesia is marked by one of them is the establishment of Islamic banks. Islamic banks are banks that operate by not relying on bank interest. With a population that is 80% Muslim, Islamic banks are predicted to have very good prospects in the future. However, the current fact is that there are still many customer complaints related to the quality of service at Islamic banks. This study aims to answer the questions on how the service quality of Bank Muamalat Bogor and how the customer satisfaction is perceived by customers of Bank Muamalat Bogor. The data collection technique was carried out by participant observation and semi-structured interviews since this type of interview is more flexible in which questions can be adapted and changed depending on the answers of the informants. For this study, researchers interviewed 15 bank customers. The results of this study indicate that of the 5 dimensions of service quality, 3 of them received negative responses from customers, namely reliability, assurance and tangible. However, apart from the negative responses, Bank Muamalat with a sharia basis also received a positive assessment for the dimensions of responsiveness and empathy in which customers are satisfied with the services provided by friendly and patient staff who have a high sense of empathy. However, the friendliness and kindness of the staff only is not sufficient. Effectiveness of Online Learning: The Learning Methods and Media
No full textOnline distance learning has been implemented as the most possible alternative at this time for continuous learning while maintaining a distance to prevent the spread of the corona virus and obeying the rules not to gather in one place. Research was conducted to investigate the effectiveness of online learning by distributing questionnaire through the google form link. Data were obtained from 112 students related to media and learning methods that support the implementation of effective online learning . The result showed that 71% or 80 students mentioned that online learning at their university is effective. Blended Learning which is a combination of system synchronous learning and asynchronous learning is chosen by the majority of respondents. Related with the learning media, the use of google meet is the most popular learning media because apart from being able to be used as a medium in synchronous learning, it can also be used in the synchronous learning through Google classroom
