Students’ Level of Engagement in Learning Technology and Livelihood Education in Blended Learning Modality

    Get PDF
Student engagement is the amount of attention, interest, curiosity, and positive emotional connections that students have when they are learning whether in the classroom or on their own (Sousa, 2016). This study aimed to determine the students’ level of engagement in learning Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE). A survey was conducted among the randomly selected Junior High School Students of St. Paul University Surigao. Based on the findings, the researcher concluded that the students were highly engaged in learning TLE in a blended learning environment, specifically in the behavioral, cognitive, and emotional engagement. It was also concluded that the respondents’ age, sex, and grades are not significantly correlated to their level of engagement. Therefore, it is hereby recommended that teachers may continue to prepare tasks and activities that would engage the students in learning TLE, focusing more on their cognitive engagement. Similar studies may be conducted where additional variables will be included, and teachers may be taken as respondents for cross validation

How to Help Kurdish Students Learn English in Secondary School's First Year at Khurmal Secondary School in Kurdistan, Iraq

    Get PDF
English would seem to be the most fundamental language for communication and studying purposes. An educated Kurdish should be able to clearly explain their views and opinions, appropriately use foreign sources, and satisfy their requirements, since these are the aims of the curriculum for foreign language instruction in Kurdistan. Students must understand native-speaker English. Experts in English education design educational English books with these aims in mind, and teachers have used them for years to teach pupils. The qualitative method contains semi-structured interviews with 20 Kurdish pupils from two secondary schools in Khurmal, Iraq, three teachers, 1 English supervisor, and several family students who were taken part in the study also questioned to get reliable data. The research addresses these questions: Why are Kurdish students becoming disappointed with English subjects? Why don't they learn English? This study found that most secondary school students face these issues. The results show that 1. Many learners don't have a passing knowledge of the English language. 2. They often acknowledge that English is a challenging area of academic study. 3. They also believe that they will not make real advancements in their English language skills. 4. They do not comprehend English because they compare themselves to senior students. Using instructional tools, keeping students' enthusiasm for English, arranging instructional material from simple to complex, and seeking advice from professionals, parents, school officials, and students may be helpful. This research aims to explore students' and teachers' perceptions of English and inspire them to learn and teach the English language

Evaluation of Pollution and Clean Index of Municipal Solid Waste Compost Used as Organic Fertilizers from Sokoto State Metropolis, Nigeria

The purpose of this study was to assess the quality of compost obtained from ten (10) municipal solid waste dumps in the Sokoto metropolitan area, Nigeria. The Compost was characterized to understand its fertilizing and polluting potential to soil. The fertilization index (FI) was determined empirically from the values of TOC, TN, TP, TK and C:N ratio and the cleaning index (CI) using heavy metal concentrations. The results were compared with quality control metrics. The FI values for the composts ranged from 4.00 to 4.70, while the CI values ranged from 2.60 to 4.00, respectively. Most of the MSW composts analyzed showed good fertilizing potential and were of good quality for use as soil fertilizers

Exploring the Impact of Dietary Interventions on the Incidence and Severity of Acute Otitis Media: A Randomized Controlled Trial

    Get PDF
The present research examined the efficacy of dietary interventions in mitigating the incidence and intensity of Acute Otitis Media (AOM) through a randomised controlled trial involving 200 AOM patients. The study involved the random allocation of participants into two groups: an intervention group that received dietary recommendations and supplements aimed at enhancing immune function and reducing inflammation, and a control group that received standard care. Over a period of two years, information pertaining to the incidence, severity, nutrient utilisation, and unfavourable outcomes of acute otitis media (AOM) was gathered. The group that received the intervention exhibited a noteworthy reduction in both the frequency and intensity of acute otitis media (AOM) in comparison to the group that did not receive the intervention. The findings of the regression analysis indicate that there exists a negative correlation between the severity of acute otitis media (AOM) and the intake of certain nutrients, namely vitamins A, C, D, E, zinc, and omega-3 fatty acids. The intervention exhibited efficacy across diverse age cohorts and was well-received by the study participants. The results indicate that dietary interventions that prioritise nutrients with immune-boosting properties have the potential to mitigate the frequency and severity of acute otitis media (AOM). The integration of dietary counselling within the management strategies for acute otitis media (AOM) may yield advantageous outcomes. Additional investigation is required to enhance the precision of nutritional recommendations and authenticate these discoveries across a range of demographics
