    The interference between effects of Adhatoda vasica (Nees) extracts and Bacillus thuringiensis (Berliner) for controlling population of fig moth, Ephestia cautella Walker

    The activity of Adhatoda vasica crude plants extracts against B.thuringiensis bacteria was determined by MIC test and sensitivity test which showed no response of this type of bacteria against extracts .The interference between the effect of hot and cold aqueous extracts and Bacillus thuringiensis bacteria for controlling the population of fig moth when males and females released before treatment under control condithion was gave a highly percentage of larval mortality which reached to 100% in (B.t. + hot aqueous extract ) and 97.3% in (B.t + coldaqueous extract ) after two weeks of treatment when concentration of 50% of aqueous extracts and 5×10?1of Bacillus thuringiensis bacteria but when the insect (males & females) released after the dates treated with B.t & hot aqueous extract , the mortality was 100% in all first instar larvae. The results also showed that when treatment of the dates before the insects released more influence than that treated the date after the insects released so the percentage of mortality of larvae reached to 100% in first method and to 86.0% in second methods

    Isolation & Pathogenic Study on Proteus mirabilis

    During the period October 2003 till July 2004, about (253) urine samples have been collected from urinary tract infection. The study has shown that the bacterium Proteus mirabilis is the responsible for (11.85%) of the urinary tracts infections. Also, the study has declared that the ratio of separation this bacterium from women was (7.51%) and it is higher than the ratio of separation in both men and children which ranged (1. 58%) and (2.76%) respectively . About (30) samples of stool have been collected from children and the ratio of isolation this bacterium has been showen to be( 30%) from children aged bellow 3 years,as well as, we have got bacterial cultures related to P.mirabilis isolated from the infections of middle-ear and bacteremia . Morphological and biochemical studies have been applied to characterize the isolation bacterium as well as other kinds of micro-orgarisms that were isolated from infections of urinary tracts in this study. The results of the study demonstrated the bacterial isolates have shown an absolute resistance with a ratio of (100%) for both the antibiotic Ceftazidime and Cephalothin. Also, the study has shown that the antibiotic Ciprofloxacin is the most effective antibiotic against this type of bacterium . The percentage of sensitivity for the local isolates to this kind of antibiotic was (96.7%) then Gentamycin and Cephotaxim and the ratio of sensitive isolates to these antibiotics were (80%) and (76.7%) respectively. We have studied some virulence factors which the bacterium owns like the production of enzymes ?-Lactamase and Extended spectrum ?–Lactamase . The study has shown that the local isolates of this bacterium produce these enzymes with a ratio of (100 %) . The study confirmed the efficiency of fish extract agar prepared locally in growing bacterium .     Sb2S3 thin films have been prepared by chemical bath deposition on a glas sub Absorbance and transmittance spectra were recorded in the wavelength range (30-900) nm. The effects of thickness on absorption coefficient, reflectance, refractive index, extinction coefficient, real and imaginary parts of dielectric constant were estimated. It was found that the reflectivity, absorption coefficient , extinction coefficient, real part of dielectric constant and refractive index, all these parameters decrease as the thickness increased, while the imaginary part of the dielectric constant increase as the thickness increased

    Lead acetate as one of the environmental pollutants can threats the life of living creatures in many ways, it has a long half-life, accumulates mainly in the soft tissue and leads to adverse effects in these tissues. An experiment was conducted to study the effect of oral feeding of lead acetate on histological features of liver, kidney, testis and muscle of albino mice. Mice were treated with 0.05 mg/100 ml lead acetate (LA) for 10 days (group A) and for and for 20 days (group B) and for 30 days (group C). The histological section of liver of mice group A characterized by slightly blurred trabecular structure with foci of hepatitis which increased with cytoplasmic vacules in group B but in group C liver reveal necrosis, heamorrhage, hepatitis with dysplasia. Testis revealed foci of spermatic hypoplasia in group A, areas of fibrosis and spermatic arrest revealed in group B and C with mild degree of maturation in last group. Skeletal muscle fibers not changed in group A but characterized with focal mononuclear cell infiltration and myositis in group B but necrosis and skeletal muscle atrophy with increase perimuscular adipose tissue and fibrosis revealed in fibers of group C

    Transference Number Measurement of Zinc Salts in Aqueous Solution

    Transference numbers of the aqueous zinc chloride and zinc sulphate solutions have been measured for the concentrations 0.03, 0.05, 0.07, 0.09 and 0.1 mol.dm-3at 298.15K, by using the modified Hittorf method. The dependence of transference number on concentration of each electrolyte was also investigated in an attempt to explain the value of the limiting transference number. The Longsworth method has been used for the extrapolation of zinc transference number in aqueous solutions, using the values of the limiting transference numbers of the appropriate values of the limiting equivalent conductance, it was possible to determine the corresponding values of the limiting ion conductance for the cations and anions of the electrolytes. The density and specific conductivity of all solutions have been measured at 298.15K

    Unstable angina pectoris often leads to acute myocardial infarction. Since uric acid is thought to be risk factor for cardiovascular disease and considered a major antioxidant in human blood .The level of uric acid and lipid peroxidation in the sera of patients with unstable angina and myocardial infarction were measured and compared to the healthy individuals. Twenty-nine patients with unstable angina and twenty-nine patients with myocardial infarction were studied and compared to twenty-five healthy individuals. Uric acid was measured by using Human Kit. Malondialdelyde (MDA) a lipid peroxidation marker, was measured by thiobarbituric acid method .Significant elevation of uric acid and MDA were observed in the sera of patients with unstable angina and myocardial infarction compared to the control group , while a non significant correlation between uric acid and lipid peroxidation were found in the present study in the sera of patients with unstable angina and myocardial infarction

    أجريت هذه الدراسة على الاجزاء الخضرية لنبات ذنب الخيل المحلي Equisetum arvense L. الذي ينمو طبيعيا في منطقة حاج عمران شمال العراق ، وتضمنت بعض الفحوصات المختبرية التي تتعلق  بعملية تخثر الدم ، باستخدام تراكيز متدرجة من كلا المستخلصين المائي والكحولي خارج الجسم الحي In vitro  وداخل الجسم الحيIn vivo  ، وتبينت فعالية التركيزين (25 و50 ) ملغم / مل للمستخلص المائي لذنب الخيل في تقليل زمن تخثر الدم خارج الجسم الحي غير ان التركيز الاعلى (100) ملغم / مل عمل على سيولة الدم وعدم ثخثره خارج الجسم الحي . كما ظهرت فعالية المستخلص المائي والكحولي في تقليل زمن التخثر، فضلاً عن زيادة عدد الصفيحات الدموية مع زيادة التركيز داخل الجسم الحي، وان التركيز (100) ملغم / مل كان ذا تأثير مخالف عن البقية، إذ  أدى الى زيادة زمن التخثر وسيولة الدم مع نقصان في عدد الصفيحات الدموية.This study has been performed on the vegetative parts of the local Horsetail Equisetum arvense L.,which grow naturally in Haj Umran , north of Iraq , included some heamatological tests coccerning blood coagulation by using different concentration of both water and ethanolic extracts in vitro and in vivo  . The  results revealed that water extract of (25 and 50) mg/ml decreased clotting time in vitro, but higher concentration (100) mg/ml had reverse effect ( stoped coagulation) , Also the low concentration of crude extracts (water and ethanolic) were very efficient to decrease clotting time, and increase platelet count in vivo. But higher concentration (100) mg/ml increased the clotting  time with decrease in platelet count

    تم في هذا البحث قياس الامتصاصية الطيفية ضمن المدى (300-700nm) للمشتقات النفطية ومخاليطها وهي (الكازولين, الكيروسين, الكازاويل) وقد شملت نسب الخلط على (0:10, 2:10, 4:10, 6:10, 8:10, 10:10) ومن أشكال الامتصاصية مع الطول ألموجي لكل نسبة استطعنا تحديد مواقع  وقيم قمم الامتصاص ومقارنة المخلوط منها مع غير المخلوط لمشتقات نفط عراقيةلامكانية معرفة نوع المشتق النفطي ونوعية المخلوط والحصول على معرفة كمية الخلط من خلال تحديد مكان وقيمة قمم الامتصاص الطيفية. وقد تبين بان هناك تفاعلات تحدث بين بعض المشتقات النفطية تعطي نوع أخر لا يشابه أي من المخلوطين الأصلية وبالتالي سوف يعطي نتائج سلبية في حالة استخدامه في مكائن الوقود. أما البعض الأخر فقد تغيرت كثافته من خلال عملية الخلط فقط.وتم تفسير النتائج على ضوء الامتصاص الطيفي للمنتجات النفطية.In this paper we have measured the spectral absorption for some oil products and there mixtures within range (300-700nm). These products are (gas oil, kerosene, gasoline).  The mixing ration includes the values (0:10,2:10,4:10,6:10,8:10,10:10).  From the absorption spectrum with wave length we can determine the location and value of absorption peaks. Then we compare between mixed and unmixed Iraqi oil products.  We were able also to determine the quantity mixture from the location and absorption values.  We found that there are interactions between some materials produce another type with different properties subsequently it will give negative result when it used in oil machines.  The density of the other kind of products was changed during the mixing process only.We have explained the results according to the spectral absorption of the oil products

    تم في هذا البحث تحضير  أغشية CdS:Inبوساطة التبخير الثنائي في الفراغ بسمك(7500Ao) عند التركيزIn)   20  %) على ارضية زجاجية درجة حرارتها 100c0 وتمت دراسة خصائصها التركيبية والبصرية. أظهرت النتائج ان جميع الاغشية متعددة التبلور وان التشويب بالانديوم أدى الى أرتفاع هذه القمم، كما ان التشويب أدى الى زيادة قيم معامل الامتصاص ومعامل الخمود وثابت العزل الخيالي وتناقص في قيم فجوة الطاقة ونقصان في قيم الانعكاسية ومعامل الانكسار وثابت العزل الكهربائي الحقيقي.The CdS;In films of Thickness 7500Ao at( 20% In) concentration  have been Prepared by double evaporation method in Vacuum on glass substrate at 100co . Optical and structural Properties have been studied. It has been found that all the films are Polycrystalline with high peak. The Doping the film lead to increase in absorption coefficient, extinction coefficient and imaginary dielectric constant and decreasing the energy of band gap, reflectance, reflective index and real dielectric constant
