Titania Effect on Sintering behavior of Alumina

    No full text
The sintering behavior of Alumina was investigated by adding TiO2. The addition of TiO2 lowered the sintering temperature of the Alumina compared with those of pure Alumina. The result suggests that TiO2 acts as an activator for sintering of Alumina. Water absorption, apparent porosity and density were examined for both pure and TiO2 added to Alumina samples. The variations of sintering behavior were discussed in terms of shrinkage, porosity, water absorption and density. Thermal shock resistance was also examined. In term of this work, the way of improving the thermal shock resistance in oxide- based materials by adding reactive Titania powder to the Alumina samples. The laboratory results showed an improvement in thermal shock resistance property of the products which open the horizon of development of the final products

The D.C electrical and thermoelectrically properties of randomly mixed isolator – electrolyte system as (Al/ PVC – LiF/Al) junction consisting of polyvinyl chloride (PVC)resin reinforced with Lithium Fluoride (LiF) powder were studied. A comparison is made the properties of (PVC) material with varying percentage of (LiF) powder (0%, 30%, 50%, 80%)to find out the effect of reinforcement of isolator material. The composites dissolving in 10ml form tettraHaedroflourn (THF) and Solution were the castled in Petri dish and Laved it dry in the air, The out coming Sample were disc - Like shape of a diameter of about 3cm and thickness reneged between (0.01- 0.018) cm . The experimental results show that current and the conductivity of (PVC - LiF) composites increase by three orders of magnitude when the volume fraction (LiF Vol.%) increase and so dose with temperature. The activation energy of the thermal rate - process of the electrical conductivity is determined and found to decrease with increasing the LiF vol. % content. We find that this composite has good conductivity, light weight and easily manufactured. These very good ideal characteristics can make the composite very suitable to be used commerciall

Effect of Hydroxyapatite Coatings on Corrosion Behavior for Biotype 316L SS Used in Orthopaedic Applications

    Get PDF
Electrochemical corrosion of hydroxyapatite (HAP) coated performance depends on various parameters like applied potential, time, thickness and sintering temperature. Thus, the optimum parameters required for the development of stable HAP coatings was found by using electrophoretic deposition (EPD) technique. This study discusses the results obtained from open circuit potential-time measurements (OCP-time), potentiodynamic polarisation and immersion tests for all alloy samples done under varying experimental conditions, so that the optimum coating parameters can be established. The ageing studies of the coated samples were carried out by immersing them in Ringer’s solution for a period of 30 days indicates the importance of stable HAP coatings to prevent corrosion on the substrate material, so that enhancement to the biocompatibility will be increased

In this paper, we introduce a class of operators on a Hilbert space namely quasi-posinormal operators that contain properly the classes of normal operator, hyponormal operators, M–hyponormal operators, dominant operators and posinormal operators . We study some basic properties of these operators .Also we are looking at the relationship between invertibility operator and quasi-posinormal operator

    Propagation of Chickpea in vitro

    No full text
Apical meristems, lateral buds, anthers of immature flowers and immature embryos of chickpea ( Cicer arietinum L.) were cultured on MS media with different growth regulators and incubated for 6 weeks at 25-27?C with 16 hrs photoperiod for callus initiation. Results indicated that 1 and 0.1 mg/l of 2,4-D and BA were suitable for callus initiation when apical meristems and lateral buds were used. While 2 and 0.5 mg/l of both growth regulators were essential for immature embryos. It was noticed that using chickpea anthers of the MS medium must contain 1mg/l 2ip and 0.5 mg/l IAA. However, MS medium supplemented with 1-3 mg/l of BA and 2,4-D respectively was good for callus initiation from lateral buds, anther and immature embryos. However, callus differentiations in chickpea were successfully obtained when 2-3 mg/l of IAA, 2-2.5mg/l of kinetin or 0.1 mg/l of NAA and 2 mg/l of kinetin were used. Data of regeneration and culture maintenance revealed that half strength of MS medium supplemented with 2, 2.5 mg/l of IAA and kinetin respectively or 0.005mg/l and 0.05 mg/l of NAA and BA respectively was the best. The importance of this method in propagation were used for improving and screening resistant chickpea germplasm aginst Fusarium wilt disease

    Get PDF
The hydatid materials were collected and studied, so they were contained 50 fertile human hydatid cases {33 (66%) females and 17 (34%) males}. They were collected from Al-Ramadi General Hospital during the period from December, 2003 to July, 2004 .Cysts were observed in 40 (80%) from the liver, 5 (10%) from the lungs, 3 (6%) from the kidney and 2 (4%) cysts from urinary bladder. The specimens were taken from patients of different ages. The in vitro viability of protoscoleces was assessed on the basis of flame cell activity and eosein exclusion, which were considered as criteria to determine the death or viability of protoscoleces. In addition to this movement (flame cell activity), another motility like constriction – relaxation (invagination - evagination) in the protoscoleces was also noticed. Both types of movement were examined under light microscope. The motility of protoscoleces examined under effect of three different temperature degrees 25?C, 37?C, and 40?C was within 15 minutes. It showed steadily increase with rising temperature. Flame cell activity increased as high as 70.01% at 40?C, while the motility with constriction -relaxation movement increased as 100.0% at 40?C. The volumes of hydatid cysts were also studied, so they were measured. Therefore, the volumes of human hydatid cysts were the highest in the lung and this is may be due to the spongy texture of the lung tissues. There is relationship between the volumes of Hydatid cysts and the viability was recorded

Extensive evaluation of 76 women with polycystic ovary syndrome compared with 25 fertile women as control group was achieved by routine investigations and hormonal study of each female which were done in one period during the menstrual cycle. Then the women with PCOS have been divided into 2 groups according to their menstrual cycle (irregular menstrual cycle) during assessing their hormonal profiles as follow:- 1- (54) Patients with oligomenorrhea. 2- (22) Patients with menorrhea. This study shows that the women with PCOs have different clinical features taken from a history of disease of all of the women. Those features were distributed as follow: 57.92% of them suffer from hirsutism. 19.24% suffer from irregular menstrual cycle, obesity in 67%, 9 patient with acne vulgaris, and more than 50% of them have most of the clinical symptoms at same time. It is also found that the hormonal disorder is the main cause of this disease with other cawes

Pre-Test Single and Double Stage Shrunken Estimators for the Mean of Normal Distribution with Known Variance

    Get PDF
This paper is concerned with pre-test single and double stage shrunken estimators for the mean (?) of normal distribution when a prior estimate (?0) of the actule value (?) is available, using specifying shrinkage weight factors ?(?) as well as pre-test region (R). Expressions for the Bias [B(?)], mean squared error [MSE(?)], Efficiency [EFF(?)] and Expected sample size [E(n/?)] of proposed estimators are derived. Numerical results and conclusions are drawn about selection different constants included in these expressions. Comparisons between suggested estimators, with respect to classical estimators in the sense of Bias and Relative Efficiency, are given. Furthermore, comparisons with the earlier existing works are drawn
