Revisiting Anita Desai’s Fiction: Tracing Generational Relevance towards a Third Culture/Third Space Spectrum
Get PDFThe paper attempts to trace the generational relevance of produced fiction by Anita Desai (b. 1937) towards the possibility of locating third culture subjectivity and the scope of the third space spectrum. The association ranges from the character aesthetics to strategic spatial intervention in her fiction, and the scope of extending the same to new pressures of readership pertaining to constantly mobile and restructured locales. The world around shows signs of disintegration of the individual vis-a-vis dislocation, migration, and dynamic forms of locomotion. It is, therefore, imperative that the modern Indian-English novel should seek new techniques to articulate the experienced inner and outer realities, merging textuality, spatiality, and subjectivity. Desai\u27s preoccupation with the individual highlights their psychological motivations, identity constructs, organizational logic of family institutions, disintegration, sense of failure, the absence to offer a clear binary, and her keen awareness of the futility of existence radiates from most of her novels. The paper tries to fathom such possibilities through analyses of her major fiction into a third culture spectrum, which may serve as a major constituent to tackle her oeuvre and accommodate her major themes

Narayan to Jhumpa Lahiri aside fresh works like "The Room on the Roof,"" The God of Small Things"," Village by the Sea", "Inheritance of loss", aand Interpreter of Maladies". These authors use childhood as a frame to explore cultural heritage, family life, education schools and larger issues underpinning social challenges in the forms of poverty or gender. Explore how these narratives educate, provoke empathy and raise consciousness in the aforementioned Brettman article. However, the study also raises issues such as authenticity, cultural representation and merchandise that results in children\u27s literature. Built on theosophical principles, Clara Codd interprets death as a calm return to ascended spiritual realms. There, she emphasizes the re-birth cycle of life, and that our soul never dies from where we accept comfort from a spiritualist point of view, which takes death not as finishing but merely evolving to something more significant. Dorothy Codd takes your heart and soul below the surface of humanity in her collection Darker Matters to explore what it feels like when you are dying on a psychological and emotional level. In her works, such as “During A Vigil”, she looks at the sadness, loss and continuity of life with deceased people. Dorothy approaches her account in death and the Compass with a certain pungency that assuredly will hit home for some, as she contemplates life on Earth after death; what does it mean to live once someone close suddenly leaves us? Key themes of Dorothy Codd and her death inquiry; influences upon Clara Dodd\u27s portrayal of death due to Theosophical upbringing and how their views differ and intersect are some research issues that later surface. Kolatkar’s style, which is distinguished by rich imagery, sarcastic humor, and cultural distinctiveness, combines a critical criticism of formal dogmatism and the immoral aspects of religion with respect for religious themes. The poems show the conflict between tradition and modernity in post-independence India by reflecting the constraint of religiousness and the unavoidable everyday disappointments. The Decline of Formal Writing in the Age of Chat Applications
Get PDFWith the emergence of the instant digital communication systems, everything is different in the way people write, and so is the case with us, older children who have already experienced the smartphone era. Language evolves with society, however, what we are experiencing with chat apps such as WhatsApp, Messenger, Snapchat, and Instagram is not a mere shift to language. It rewrites the entire cultural framework of how we conduct our communication, in written form. The essay is discussing that speed, convenience, and that just-because-quick emotional shorthand is replacing the old rules of appropriate sentences, grammar, punctuations and reflective thought. Socio-linguistically, I am examining the ways in which this informal and chat-based writing alters the way we think, share emotions and even our literacy in general. Surely, this change is not entirely negative, but it does make us wonder whether our present communication behaviour can be called progressive or it is simply wearing something priceless
