The study assessed job satisfaction of business educators in tertiary institutions in Edo State. Three research questions were raised. Two hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance. The study adopted a survey research design. A population of 65 business educators was used for the study. There was no sampling as the entire population was used for the study. The instrument was validated by three experts. Cronbach Alpha was used to determine the reliability of the instrument and this yielded 0.98. Descriptive statistics of mean and standard deviation were used to answer all the research questions. All the null hypotheses were tested using t-test statistics at 0.05 level of significance. The results revealed that business educators, male and female, old and young, married and single, inexperienced and experienced were fairly satisfied with promotion prospects, job tenure and the salaries that they earned. There was a significant difference between male and female business educators in their levels of job satisfaction. There was no significant difference between married and single business educators in their levels of job satisfaction. Get PDF
A major health concern in Nigeria is the low usage of condoms among sexually active youths despite their acknowledged benefits. This study examined the  main effect of Emotional Enhancement Therapy (MET)  and the interaction effect of  level of HIV knowledge  on condom self efficacy among identified sexually active male out-of school youths in Anambra State, Nigeria. Pre test post test control group design with 2x2 factorial matrix was adopted for the study. Ninety seven youths in the  age range of  15-22 years and  mean age of 18.5 (SD = 2.2) were purposively recruited from an approximated 3,301 apprentices in two major markets in Anambra State, and were randomly assigned into treatment conditions. The experimental group was exposed to ten sessions of MET, while the control group was used as the comparison group. Data was collected with three self-report questionnaires. Three hypotheses were tested at 0.05 significance level. The result of Analysis of Covariance showed a significant main effect of treatment on condom self efficacy. However, there was no interaction effect of HIV knowledge on the criterion variable. Furthermore, treatment and level of HIV knowledge jointly contributed 62.2% of the variance in condom self efficacy. In conclusion, MET was effective in enhancing condom self-efficacy irrespective of HIV knowledge. This outcome has implication for programming intervention for out-of school youths

The research analyze the benefits and risks associated with ‘Bring Your Own Devise’ (BYOD) to libraries and propose an effective way of adopting BYOD that can maximize the benefits and reduce/mitigate the risks associated with it. Thus, survey research using interview was conducted using data from both secondary and primary research. From the research it was found BYOD provides substantial benefits to the organization such as cost savings, flexibility, enhanced productivity and efficiency, satisfaction to employees. But it also enhances security risks, poses data ownership problems, virus, increase regulatory issues, increase threat of data theft and leakage to unauthorized personnel. These risks were negating the costs benefits of BYOD. Considering these findings the research has recommended certain countermeasures and policies that can minimize and mitigate the risks, address the problems of BYOD and make it more effective to the organization. Implementing these recommendations the organization can introduce BYOD with minimum risks but can derive maximum benefits because BYOD trend is increasing and it can no longer delay its introduction

    Get PDF
The study investigated the comparative effects of concept mapping and simulation-game teaching strategies on students’ interest in environmental concepts in chemistry. The quasi-experimental, pre-test, post-test, non-equivalent control group design was adopted. The sample used comprised of four hundred and sixty-seven (467) SS2 chemistry students randomly drawn from four (4) single-sex schools. The instrument for data collection was Environmental Concepts Inventory (ECI), while six research questions and six null hypotheses guided the study. Three intact classes were assigned to concept mapping, simulation-game and lecture method groups. Means, standard deviations were used to answer the research questions, while ANCOVA and Multiple Classification Analysis (MCA) using the Scheffe’s test were used to test the null hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. Results revealed that the simulation-game teaching strategy was most effective in enhancing students’ interest than the concept-mapping strategy. Influences of gender and school location on students’ interest were both not significant. Similarly, there were no significant interaction effects of teaching strategy and gender or school location or both on students’ interest. Based on the findings, some recommendations were made

This study examined the perceptions of the residents of Federal Capital Territory and its environs on impact of urbanisation on the social and economic life of people. A questionnaire was developed by the researcher and administered to 120 residents randomly selected from FCT metropolis and the sub-urban. 95 residents made up of 52 from metropolis and 43 from sub-urban fully completed and returned the questionnaires. Data generated from the questionnaire were analysed using t-test statistics and hypotheses drawn were tested at 0.05 level of significance. The study found no significant statistical difference between FCT metropolis and its sub-urban in food supply, employment opportunities, social life, and transportation, availability of accommodation, environmental life and provision of educational services. However, marginal mean differences were observed in each of the social and economic variables. The metropolis had relatively higher supply of water, better means of transportation, and provision of educational services than the sub-urban.  On the other hand, the sub-urbans are negligibly better in provision of employment, social life, availability of accommodation for people and environmental life than the metropolis. The paper recommended that the urban planning should be extended to the sub-urbans to decongest the metropolis as well as provide basic amenities to control growth of slums
