Damages That Occur at Vital Components of the Thermal Power Plant System Detected by NDT Testing
Continuous exploitation in very harsh environmental conditions can lead to relatively frequent damages of steam line system. High place among the causes of these damages takes inadequate exploitation and maintenance. This paper describes damages and failures of steam line and provides an overview of NDT testing in order to determine the cause of steam lines failure in thermal power plants. This method may be applied to similar structures and its application in preventive maintenance would help extend the life of steam pipes. The results presented in this paper and conducted research projects allow us to analyze the behavior of supporting elements of steam line in order to determine changes in mechanical properties of materials

Impact of fine aggregate particle size and morphology on the early strengths of SCC
A comparative study of performances of self compacting concrete (SCC) with fly ash and limestone filler was conducted. The experimental program included the production of reference SCC designed with Portland cement, river sand and limestone filler and four experimental self compacting concretes with different types of fine aggregates, fillers and special additive to increase freeze-thaw resistance. The effects that different sand and additions have on the properties of fresh SCC (slump-flow test, V-funnel test, and L-box test) and compressive strengths in early ages (3 and 7 days) were investigated and discussed

However, archaeological excavations rarely detect building materials as valuable, being recorded only as unified elements that form an architectural context or mediums that carry an inscription or a trace of use. Mortar Design for Conservation - Danube Roman Frontier 2000 Years After - MoDeCo2000 is a project conducted as a connection between archaeometry and conservation science, exploring the Roman mortars through the intertwining of the desire to learn about the construction activities and lives of ancient people along the Danube in today’s Serbia and the goal of preparing new materials that will preserve the built remains of these activities for the future
Determination of ventilation heat losses through building envelope – a case study
In this paper the experimental procedure for the determination of ventilation heat losses across building envelopes has been shown. The alternative name for this method is Blower Door Test or Fan Pressurization method. This text is a user manual for the determination of ventilation heat losses and parameters which is used to describe the air permeability of buildings. The experiment examination was performed at the office with old and after with new windows. The results were compared, and a significant contribution of new windows was shown
Carbonate-silica gemstone deposit Vučkovica (central Serbia) – Geologic properties, genetic processes and deposition age.
Carbonate-silica veins and masses in Vučkovica locality in central Serbia, classified as Kraubath type deposit, despite their thickness, are not economically significant as magnesite deposit due to silica content well above 0.3%. What makes this mineralisation economically insignificant as magnesite deposit – heavy silification of magnesite – is what enables its use as a gemstone. The regional hydrothermal activity along deep faults of the Sava-Vardar zone of central Serbia had caused the alteration of serpentinite and formation of carbonate-silica mineralisation. Unlike other deposits of the same type in this ophiolite belt, here the depth of the erosional level provides an opportunity to explore previously unknown features of these mineralisations, such as veins' trending, dip direction, dip angle and thickness, and somewhat different relationships between carbonate and silica constituents – namely predominance of magnesite with minor content of green dolomite and chalcedony.
X-ray diffraction analyses have shown that carbonate minerals present are predominantly magnesite with minor dolomite, and that silica is fully crystallised despite its colloform structure. Energy-dispersive X-ray fluorescent (EDXRF) analysis indicated the presence of significant content of Nickel, which can cause the green colour of dolomite. Optical microscopy has shown that the precipitation process is carried out continuously between cryptocrystalline magnesite and crystalline dolomite, and that silica crystallite (fibre) size varies between cryptocrystalline and microcrystalline.
As a gemstone deposit, Vučkovica can be considered small and with complicated internal setting, but with significant depth span, as is typical for Kraubath type deposits. Present gemstone types are considered "semi-precious", of low to moderate economic value, but with very pleasing aesthetic properties
Fire resistance tests for fire dampers
Passive fire protection is civil engineering discipline which is very popular for research and development of new construction products and test standards. The primary function of passive fire protection product is to achieve the declared fire resistance. Fire resistance of a construction product is expressed as a time interval (30 min, 60 min, 90 min, 120 min ...) in which certain properties of the tested product are preserved. In the given time intervals, it is necessary for the tested product to maintain the thermal insulation properties (I), integrity (E) and additional properties prescribed by the test standard related to the tested product. The fire damper represents part of HVAC system installed on walls which are fire resistance barriers [2]. Additional properties related to fire-resistant service installations- fire dampers (hereinafter only fire dampers) are the leakage on the fire damper in the cold state and the leakage of fire damper (S) during the fire test. In order to determine the previous properties, a test installation for fire dampers was formed, which consists of: installed damper in the test wall, duct and pipeline system, system for measuring the volume flow, cooler and a fan. All the obtained results are graphically presented in the paper and serve for the purpose of determining the mentioned fire properties of dampers and for the purpose of fire resistance classification of construction products
Comparative Analysis of Bearing Capacity of Piles Tested by Dynamic Load Test (DLT) and Pressuremeter Test (PMT)
The paper presents the comparative analysis of several piles for different pier locations of a bridge by employing in-situ deep foundations tests and in-situ soil tests. The focus of the paper is on the
presentation of the reliability of solutions obtained using the Dynamic Load Test (DLT) for in-situ
tests of the bearing capacity of deep foundations – piles. The DLT test was conducted in two stages:
in-situ DLT of piles and pile bearing capacity analysis using the wave theory and the method of
characteristics. The signals of upward traveling force waves, obtained by in-situ DLT of piles were
signal matched with the signals of the numerical nonlinear model of the dynamic pile-soil interaction.
The results of DLT of pile bearing capacity are presented as componential values (regarding the pile
base and the pile shaft) and as a cumulative value (total bearing capacity), so that the comparison of
DLT and pressuremeter test (PMT) was conducted both according to componential and cumulative
bearing capacities. Since it is not possible to strictly conduct DLT and PMT for the same settlement
level, it is not possible to directly compare the bearing capacity, however the comparison was
performed taking into account the bearing capacities from PMTs according to Eurocode 7. DLTs
provided bearing capacities which correlate well with the PMTs results. Also, DLTs determined the
corresponding elastoplastic settlement for the designed resistance of piles, which is very useful to the designers in the analysis of serviceability (settlement) of both the pier locations and of the entire bridge
