Reconstructing Gender Relations for Family Resilience in Minangkabau: Integrating Islamic Law and Customary Law

Women are social beings who hold a high position in continuing the kinship system, preserving the existence of inheritance, and being responsible for forming family ethics and morals. This study aims to reconstruct the legal perspective on gender relations by integrating Islamic law with the Minangkabau cultural customs to strengthen family resilience. This research uses a qualitative approach based on relevant documents from primary and secondary sources, including interviews, documentation, books, and articles. The collected data is analyzed using content analysis methods with phenomenological, feminist, and sociological approaches. The findings of this study indicate that the Minangkabau community views women as charismatic and respected figures. Bundo kanduang protects her kin, preserves the ancestral heritage, and maintains the kinship system to ensure the continuity of the family within the matrilineal kinship system. This research contributes to the discourse on Islamic law and gender by showing how the matrilineal society of Minangkabau aligns with Islamic principles and challenges conventional patriarchal interpretations that are not in line with Islamic values

Islamic Legal Policy on Ultra-Micro Enterprise Financing and Its Implementation from the Perspective of Maqāṣid al-Sharī‘a

Until the mid-19th century, the Dutch colonialism (the Western world) began to intervene in the indigenous legal systems of Indonesia. The current situation marks the beginning of a decline in the civilization of Muslims, particularly in Indonesia. This development raises concerns about the future of Indonesian society as a whole. This decline permeated various aspects of life, including the field of mu’āmala law, which began to adopt usury-based concepts. This research aims to reconstruct the Islamic legal policy on Ultra-Micro (UMi) Financing as practiced by the Indonesian government, which still contains elements of usury (ribā) in its implementation. This study employs a qualitative approach using empirical-socio-legal research methods involving an analysis of UMi Financing contracts, interviews with stakeholders, and direct observations in Surakarta. The analysis is grounded in the theory of maqāṣid al-sharī’a, including the principles of ribā as outlined in classical Islamic jurisprudence (turāth). The findings reveal a research gap that the current legal policy on Sharia ultra-micro financing implemented by the government had ribā, which is found in classical Islamic texts

Green Human Resource Management in Islamic Finance: A Systematic Review of Sustainability Strategies in Indonesia

This study investigates the implementation of Green Human Resource Management (GHRM) within Indonesia’s Islamic finance industry through a systematic literature review of 375 academic publications from 2015 to 2024. Existing research has largely centered on conventional financial institutions, offering limited insight into GHRM’s role in the Islamic finance context. The review reveals that GHRM practices—such as green recruitment, sustainability training, and eco-friendly incentives—not only improve operational efficiency but also align with Maqasid al-Shariah objectives. FinTech integration further enhances green initiatives by increasing transparency and access in Islamic financial services. Nonetheless, regulatory limitations and inconsistent institutional support hinder broader adoption. A key recommendation is the introduction of Green Employee Sukuk: Shariah-compliant instruments issued by financial institutions to fund employee-led sustainability programs. Returns are tied to the performance of green investments, incentivizing employee engagement while reinforcing organizational environmental commitments. Strengthening regulatory frameworks and leveraging FinTech innovations are crucial for optimizing GHRM’s impact on sustainability in Indonesia’s Islamic finance sector

Pathway linking executive function problems and non-suicidal self-injury among adolescents: The mediating role of emotion dysregulation

Non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) is a prevalent mental health issue among adolescents, with difficulties in emotional regulation identified as a significant predictor of such behavior. A set of neurocognitive skills known as executive function (EF) is also linked to NSSI. This study investigates the relationship between executive function problems and NSSI behavior, explicitly examining the mediating role of emotional dysregulation. Participants were selected using a non-probability purposive sampling technique, with the final sample consisting of 211 Indonesian adolescents aged between 12 and 18 (M = 14.57, SD = 1.42). The measurement instruments included the Teenage Executive Function Inventory (TEXI), the Cognitive Flexibility Scale (CFS), the Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale Short Form (DERS-SF), and the Deliberate Self-Harm Inventory (DSHI). Mediation analysis using the PROCESS macro for SPSS (model 4), revealed that emotion dysregulation significantly mediated the relationship between EF problems and NSSI. The indirect effect of EF problems and NSSI through emotion dysregulation was statistically significant (B = 0.203, 95% CI [0.0805, 0.3741]). Adolescents with lower EF are more prone to emotional difficulties, thus increasing the risk of NSSI. The study provides implications that help elucidate the dynamics of the NSSI phenomenon among adolescents. Furthermore, the findings highlight the need for interventions targeting both cognitive and emotional regulation skills to reduce NSSI in adolescents and promote overall mental health and well-being.

Development of a Flipbook Pantun Based on the Think Talk Write Model to Improve the Writing Skills of Fifth-Grade Elementary School Students

This study is dedicated to enhancing the Pantun writing skills of high-grade elementary students through developing and evaluating digital teaching materials in a flipbook format. The research follows the development model outlined by Sugiyono. The product was validated by media and material experts, who provided feedback that reflected a high level of appropriateness. The media experts rated the materials at 95%, categorizing them as very feasible based on their alignment with learning objectives, design, language, and usability. The material expert assigned a score of 81%, also within the very feasible category, considering the relevance of content, language, and presentation. The feasibility test results from a small-scale trial indicated a 100% approval rate from educators and a 90.41% positive response from students. Pretest scores averaged 52.76, which rose significantly to 88.80 in the posttest, demonstrating a substantial improvement of 36.04 points. The n-gain test results were 77.42 for the small scale and 76.93 for the large scale. These findings substantiate that developing the Pantun flipbook, grounded in the think-talk-write model, is highly feasible and effective in enhancing students' writing Pantun. This innovative learning strategy not only aids in developing writing skills but also fosters critical thinking, discussion, and expressing ideas in written form

Socio-Economic Poverty among Yoruba Women in Nigeria: A Qualitative Analysis of Structural and Cultural Determinants

This study examines socio-economic poverty among Yoruba women in the Southwestern region of Nigeria, with women as the main unit of analysis and Yorubaland as the socio-cultural context of the study. The aim of this study is to identify the structural, cultural, and economic factors that contribute to the sustainability of Yoruba women's socio-economic poverty and to examine their implications for women's empowerment and national development. This research employs a qualitative approach, utilizing a critical analysis of academic literature, policy documents, and secondary data from international development agency reports, complemented by contextual observations of the socio-economic realities of the Yoruba people. The findings of the study show that the socio-economic poverty of Yoruba women is influenced by limited access to education, patriarchal cultural norms, economic inequality, government policies that are less favorable to women, the high cost of living, and lack of access to financial resources. These factors collectively limit women's economic participation, inhibit asset accumulation, and reinforce cycles of dependency and vulnerability. The study also found that unpaid domestic work and the exclusion of women from the decision-making process weakened their socio-economic progress. This article contributes to the study of gender and development by presenting a contextual analysis of women's poverty in Yoruba society and affirms the urgency of gender-sensitive policies as a sustainable development strategy in Nigeria
