Utilizing Agricultural-based Adsorbents to Remove Copper and Nickel from Industrial Wastewater
Due to rapid industrialization, industrial wastewater quantity and heavy metals are increasing day by day and thereby new alternative methods for treatment of water and waste water are need of hour. Heavy metals can be removed from wastewater more effectively through adsorption, however this method requires a good adsorbent that is widely accessible nearby. The heavy metals copper and nickel are removed from industrial effluent using adsorbents made from agricultural waste in this research work. Adsorbents prepared from coconut shell and rice husk, which are considered as waste materials, can be effectively used for adsorption due to low cost and high availability. Chemical and thermal treatments are given to develop the effective adsorbents from coconut shell and rice husk. Potential of removal of heavy metals by agro-based adsorbents are also evaluated by various tests like XRD, XRF, proximate analysis, bulk density, iodine number. In characterization, behaviors of material are studied and developed adsorbents are found effective with good adsorption capacity for the removal of heavy metals. In this work, industrial wastewater with pH variations and treated. Adsorbent from coconut shell are 70% effective in removal of nickel and adsorbents from rice husk are 65% effective. Copper removal is 75-76% which is more than nickel by both the adsorbents. Both adsorbents bring down the metal ion concentrations in the industrial wastewater below permissible limits 3 mg/l. For the effective and inexpensive removal of various heavy metals, a variety of agro-based adsorbents made from locally abundant waste are helpful
Study of Battery Management System with analysis of Ni-mh, lithium-ion Batteries
The conventional flooded-type lead acid battery is being replaced by the sealed-type VRLA (Valve-Regulated Lead- Acid) battery, which is superior from the standpoints of economy, reliability, safety, ease of maintenance and construction. The work on the new battery management system which automatically determines the level of deterioration of the batteries using battery parameters like voltage, charging, discharging current and temperature, and additionally, indicates the approximate charge stored and indicates time to replace a defective battery. It makes a reliable maintenance free batteries of power-supply units for telecommunication equipment and Electric vehicle or the like applications. However battery maintenance work has somedifficulties and another problem is how to manage battery for equipment such as an Electric vehicle more efficiently. So we have worked on the battery management system with higher efficiency, which monitor a state of battery and then integrates its data from battery-management unit and in future scope the battery deterioration unit will be controlled through wireless lines
Feasibility of Water Hyacinth Ash as an Accelerator in Cement Slurry Formulation
Cement is primarily used in drilling operations to protect the casing against the corrosive tendency of formation fluid and to support the casing with the external load on and around it. Cement slurry is formed by mixing water with Portland cement or with cement containing various essential additives as the case may be and pumping it down through to critical points in the annulus around the casing using various techniques. Class G cement is widely used in cementing jobs because it allows the use of accelerators and retarders for wide range of well depths and temperatures. Due to wait-on-cement time before commencement of drilling of the next section of the well, it is necessary to reduce the waiting time and it ripple effects on cost of drilling by introducing accelerator to the cement slurry. The chlorides of calcium, potassium and sodium are the commonly used accelerators. Water hyacinth ash have been known to contain high percentage of calcium, potassium and chlorine, these elements readily combine with water to form potassium chloride and calcium chloride of which both are used as accelerator additives in cement slurry formulation. The utilization of these compounds in water hyacinth ash as accelerator additives would be a major breakthrough in cementing jobs especially in shallow section of the wells. Locally sourced water hyacinth plants were dried and combusted in air, the ash was then activated with water and filtered. The filtrate was used to determine the thickening time of class G cement slurry and the results obtained was compared with that of inorganic calcium chloride. The thickening times at the various set temperatures for this experiment were close to the inorganic calcium chloride used. Though, the thickening time of cement slurry is dependent on temperature, the concentration of the accelerator in the slurry also affect it.. It was found out that water hyacinth ash reduces the thickening time of class G cement slurry comparatively and therefore, should be considered as accelerator additive in the formulation of oil well cement slurry for accelerating the cement setting time

An organization’s security posture is the security status of all its networks, data, people, and systems; the resources it employs to protect them; and its ability to defend against attacks and quickly recover from them, patching vulnerabilities can minimize the investment cost but only a small reduction in the system risk. Therefore, efficient security assessment methods are needed that are not model or metric oriented, as well as an equivalent accuracy with respect to evaluating all possible attack scenarios.
This paper contribution will be more focused on the security posture by explaining its importance, tools, for vulnerability patching, and their huge impact on enhancing the security situation in financial organizations
The After Market Performance Analysis of Initial Public Offering in Bangladesh: Short Run and Long Run
This article investigates both short and long run performance of 113 IPOs listed on Dhaka Stock Exchange between 2008 and 2019. It examines short run performance to validate the anomaly of short run abnormal returns of stocks. The IPO stocks in the secondary market have underperformed in the three-year long run period and outperformed in the short run. The portfolio of IPO stocks has surpassed the DSEX by 1.17 percent in the short run and underperformed by -26.53 percent in the long run. Apart from these, the variation in the returns of sectors has also been analysed. Even though the overall portfolio underperformed, some sectors have outrun the index by a large margin. Insurance and telecommunication are among the outperforming sectors. Food & allied, Ceramic and Paper & print sectors have always underperformed the market severely. The core reasons behind these anomalies have not been researched in this study, further analysis can be done on this aspect. Variations in the sector-wise returns can also be identified by further investigation

Building Information Modelling in Urbanising Kenya
With the largest economy is East and Central Africa, Kenya serves as a regional centre for banking, technology and infrastructure. In the last ten years Kenya has experienced strong growth and development, largely anchored in the Country’s Vision 2030. Vision 2030 is a long term view of Kenya’s development intended to transform Kenya into a middle income country with a high quality of life by 2030. The vision is anchored on 3 pillars; economic, social and political. For ease of implementation the vision is entrenched in the 2010 constitution and has been divided into 5-year mid-term plans (MTP’s) coinciding with the electoral calendar. The current MTP was adopted in 2013 and includes a strong focus on digital transformation. This because, technology is increasingly playing a valuable role in communities, but also a highly disruptive role.
Our communities are changing as a result of technology. Increased technological possibilities are resulting in faster and cheaper production of goods and services; the advent of technology has seen a shift in the needs of our communities, from requiring basic provision of infrastructure to needing more advanced technology appropriate infrastructure; technology has changed how information is communicated and received in our communities, and finally technology and its rapid speed of change has meant that we now question the viability of our existing buildings and infrastructure, and a step further, the viability even of the plans we have for future development.
However, it is not all doom and gloom. It is possible through specific and deliberate strategies to harness the benefits of technology. To do this, communities and built industry professionals need to have a clear strategy that identifies where the biggest difference can be made with technology, and then align infrastructure and building provision goals and technology requirements with choices that are guided by a community-centred approach. To think, how will implementing this technology affect the community in which it is implemented?
Since 2011, The World Bank, through the Kenya Investment Climate Program in partnership with the Architectural Association of Kenya and four County Governments of Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu and Kiambu have developed and are now successfully running automation of all approval and administrative processes associated with Construction Permits. This integration of technology to construction permitting has had numerous benefits: reduced time and costs for regulators and investors, has encouraged best practice among professionals and raised the level of safety in construction projects.
In advocating for the integration of BIM to construction e-permit systems in urbanising Kenya, this paper demonstrates how technology can be harnessed to steer urbanisation while working for the good of the community. The ubiquity of technology is transforming how professional services are procured and offered. Full service models are being replaced by a new service framework, with either self or automated services, or, custom services becoming predominant. This necessitates a re-thinking of how we engage our communities in our quest to offer professional services against the backdrop of urbanisation.
The novelty of BIM use is the possibility to integrate various aspects of infrastructure and building provision from site surveys through to community feedback and local authority approval on one platform. This paper will explore best practice in BIM use around the world as a catalyst for harnessing technology to address the challenge of rapid change in urbanising communities. In advocating for BIM institutionalisation and integration with the existing e-permitting systems in Kenya, this paper will suggest ways in which these best practices can appropriately be applied to the unique community that is rapidly urbanising Kenya
Portable Solar-Battery Operated Grass Cutter
One reason for the gradual increase in polution is increased fuel consumption. The solution is to use solar energy as an energy source to power batter powered lawn mowers. Our Portable Solar-Battery Operated Grass Cutter is actually a robotic body which contains a rechargeable battery, Direct Current (D.C) motors, Solar Panel, blade, an on-off switch and a button for area selection. Rechargeable battery is connected to Solar panel and supply is given to the ATMEGA 328 P microcontrollers which controls the further functions. Portable Solar-Battery Operated Grass Cutter Contains 5 DC motors. Where 4 DC motors are connected to four wheels of the robotic body and one DC motor is connected to the cutting blade to cut the grass. One ultrasonic sensor is used in our project which senses the grass and cut it. Button for Area Selection is provided to give the specifications of area to cut the grass and when the area is covered then the Portable Solar-Battery Operated Grass Cutter will stop
Smart Parking System Based on RFID & GSM Technology
In the modern world with about a billion vehicles present around the globe, and being in a densely populated country like India creates the need for an efficient parking system and with world advancing towards automation, there is also a need for an automated parking system. Mainly the problem of parking arises in big cities and this causes problems like traffic congestion, driver frustration & air pollution, etc. The issue mainly arises from not knowing whether the parking spaces is available at any given point of time. Even if known, many vehicles may be competing for limited parking spaces causing severe traffic congestions. Even there are problems that can be caused with regards to the parking management. It may be difficult for the parking management to organise the parking of the vehicles in an orderly manner.
Thus we are trying to resolve the problems stated by developing an RFID based smart parking system that monitors the availability of idle parking slots and guides the vehicle to the nearest such slot by sending a message to the mobile number registered in the vehicle’s RFID. The proposed system uses infrared transmitter-receiver pairs that remotely communicate the status of parking occupancy to the Arduino UNO microcontroller and displays the vacant slots on the display at the entrance of the parking so that the user gets to know the availability /unavailability of parking space prior to his/her entry into the parking place. Implementation involves minimal human interaction and provides a seamless parking experience thereby reducing a lot of time wasted by the user in parking his/her vehicle.

An Awareness towards Greenwashing of Product and its Impact on Consumers’ Buying Behaviour in Surat City
In today’s era Greenwashing refers to the practice of making untruthful or misleading environmental claims about a product or service in order to appeal eco-conscious consumers. The consumer awareness about greenwashing has increased in present-day as people have become more alarmed about the environment and their impact on their buying behaviour. This increased awareness has headed to a change in buying behavior, as consumers are more likely to pursue out those products which are actually environmentally friendly and avoid those that are misleadingly advertised as such. This study aims to study consumers\u27 awareness of green washing and how it creates impact on their purchase behavior. Organizations have keeping in mind their social responsibility concerning for general people and how brands are using this as a strong marketing tactic in intensifying their business. This paper also studies its impact on the environment and the general public. This study was conducted in Surat city. 200 responses were collected over a period of 2 months. Frequency analysis was done in this research paper. Primary data was collected through questionnaire method
