    The Effect of Selected Macroeconomic Factors on a Stock Market Performance in Zambia

    This was a study on the effect of selected macroeconomic factors on a stock market performance in Zambia. The study objectives where to determine the effect of the exchange rates on the LuSE all shares index in Zambia; to investigate the effect of inflation on the LuSE all shares index in Zambia and to establish the effect of interest rates on the LuSE all shares index in Zambia. Interest rate, inflation rate and exchange rate where the independent variables while stock market index was the dependent variable. The study targeted 24 firms listed on the Lusaka Stock Exchange. The study used secondary data which was sourced from the Bank of Zambia. The findings of the study reveal that the selected macroeconomic variables have an effect on stock market performance. This is because the study findings revealed that interest rate, inflation rate and exchange rate have a correlation with stock market index which can either be positive or negative. From the various tests and correlation models used, based on the study findings, the study concludes that selected macroeconomic factors in the country over the study period have been changing greatly. There were huge variations in the interest rates, inflation rates and exchange rates. Generally, the study concludes that interest rates, inflation rates and exchange rates influence the LuSE performance and can be used to predict the stock market performance. There was a strong and significant relationship between all the macroeconomic factors and the stock market performance. This implies that the macroeconomic environment in Zambia is a key determinant of business activities including the performance of the stock market. As a result, the study recommends that there is need for the Bank of Zambia to maintain a stable foreign currency exchange in order to attract foreign investors to the LuSE

    The healthcare sector has been flourishing effectively in India compare to the rest of the world. Medical travel, telemedicine, hospitals, surgical instruments, clinical trials, outsourcing, and health insurance are all included in the healthcare industry. The rapid expansion of the Indian healthcare sector is being driven by the country\u27s huge coverage, services, and increasing public and private expenditure. To establish the performance of FDI in the healthcare industry the study assessed the different policy measures taken by the government in the health sector and tried to gauge the effect of FDI in the healthcare industry concerning policy measures taken by the government. A descriptive analysis method is used in this study to assess the performance of FDI in the health sector concerning the UK, USA, and BRICS countries. The Paper showed that the liberalisation of government policies has induced FDI to perform better in the healthcare industry

    The Influence of Packaging Attributes on Consumer Buying Behaviour: A Case Study of Milk Packages

    This study focused on the influence of packaging attributes on consumer buying behaviour, a case study of milk packages. The study was conducted in Lusaka, Zambia and was guided by the following objectives; to establish the existing packaging attributes of milk products on the market, to examine the effect of each packaging attribute of milk on consumer buying behaviour and to identify which packaging attributes of milk packages are more influential on consumer buying behaviour. The study revealed that packaging attributes; packaging colour, background image, packaging material, font style, design wrapper and printed information positively influence consumer buying decision. The study recommends that packaging companies use three-layer film composite for packaging and should also ensure that packaging attributes are taken into consideration during product development phrases since they influence customers buying behaviour

    An Analysis of Female Graduates Social Entrepreneurship in Zambia

    The study was undertaken among female university graduates in Zambia to analyze aspects of social entrepreneurship intention. The emergence of social entrepreneurship as a worthwhile approach for alleviating social problems and that women are more prone to social entrepreneurship, while universities offer entrepreneurship courses, motivated the study. Ajzen’s Theory of Planned Behaviour was used in the study. It assessed personal attitude, subjective norm, perceived behaviour control, prior entrepreneurship exposure and prior experience as predictors of social entrepreneurship intention among female university graduates in Zambia. Using the mixed methods design, a sample of 500 female graduate students was randomly derived and answered the Entrepreneurial Intentions Questionnaire (EIQ). Analysis by hierarchical multiple regression at 95% confidence level and p-value significant at 0.05, revealed that all the models were significant. Prediction of SEI among female Zambian university graduates was strongest when the variables of variables of PA, SN, PBC, PEE and PE were considered together. The study is consistent with Ajzen’s theory of planned behaviour. Recommendations are made to government, educational institutions to adopt strategies to inspire SE

    Effects of Zambia Revenue Authority Non-Intrusive Scanner Machines on Tax Compliance in Zambia: A Case of the Kapiri Mposhi Weigh Bridge

    The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of Zambia revenue Authority Non-Intrusive Scanner machines on tax compliance in Zambia-Case study Kapiri Mposhi weigh Bride. It was against this background that this study was conducted to determine the effects of Zambia revenue Authority Non-Intrusive Scanner machines on tax compliance in Zambia-Case study Kapiri Mposhi weigh Bride. The study adopted a descriptive case study design and targeted 110 respondents composed of 10 custom officers and 100 passersby trucks at kapiri weigh bride. The results of the study revealed that out of the 110 respondents from this research, 77 respondents which represented 77% responded that, scanner machines have great impact on revenue collection. The association between non-intrusive scanners and revenue increase was found to be significant with p values (0.027<0.05). There was also a difference in the revenues collected before and after, and since the revenues collected after the introduction of non-intrusive scanners machines has positive coefficient in relation to the revenues collected before the introduction of non-intrusive scanners machines, it was then concluded that non-intrusive scanners have a positive effect on total revenue collected. The findings pointed out that non-intrusive scanner machines are effective when there is consistency in their operation while scanner downtime was found to affect revenue collection strongly on the negative way. Despite some inconsistencies the results obtained from this study revealed that many taxpayers want the non-intrusive scanner machines to continue being used as the solution to the delayed traffic at the weigh bridge. It was recommended that the number of scanners to be increased to cover more trucks as well as reducing congestion at the scanning unit and delays

The Industry solves the aspirations of budding professionals and the academia supports in strengthening the intellect of the individual to match the standards required by the Industry.  Once these avenues of Industry – Academia do not match, the Gap arises. In recent years, concerns have arisen regarding the industry-academia gap, leading to a growing number of individuals making ill-suited career choices. Bridging this gap is essential to minimize career mismatches and ensure a seamless transition for aspiring professionals. Both academia and industry must collaborate to address this issue and equip students with the necessary skills and information to make informed career decisions. This study attempts to understand the essence of coordination between Industry and Academia. It furthers attempts to identify the Gap between Industry & Academia and present potential solution to bridge the gap. This exploratory & descriptive study is conducted by the help of Secondary & Primary data. As primary data, the Interviews with 9 Industry representatives have equipped the Researchers to conclude the study with pertinent recommendations. The Researchers have attempted to offer a pragmatic framework in the form of the 5 R Model, aiming to equip students with the requisite skills, relevance, and resilience to thrive in an increasingly competitive landscape.     An Analytical Study on the Effect of Marketing Mix Elements on Consumer Durables’ Brand Awareness in Kolkata

    This study looks into how brand awareness is affected by different elements of the marketing mix in Kolkata\u27s consumer durables market. The study looks at how product, price, location, promotion, and brand awareness relate to each other as well as how brand awareness affects consumer satisfaction as a mediator. Using a mixed-methods approach, the study gathers data from secondary sources, interviews, and surveys. The findings demonstrate that elements of the marketing mix have a favorable effect on consumer satisfaction and brand awareness. The study also reveals variations in brand recognition and awareness according to demographic factors like age, gender, employment status, educational attainment, and family income. The results indicate that concentrating on elements of the marketing mix can greatly raise consumer satisfaction and brand awareness. Businesses in Kolkata\u27s consumer durables sector can use the study\u27s insightful recommendations to create marketing plans that work, build their brands, and win over more devoted customers

    Value-Added Tax Monopoly: A Threat to Low Revenue-Generating States in Nigeria

    This paper examines the effect of value-added tax monopoly by some states on low revenue-generating states. An exploratory/survey approach was adapted. Employment, revenue generation, and economic development were used as proxies to measure the monopolistic effect of value-added tax on low revenue-generating states. Primary source of data collection was employed through a closed-end questionnaire. The population of the study stand at 273 respondents drawn from Borno, Gombe, and Yobe state, with a sample size of 256 using stratified sampling technique. Linear Regression was employed to analyze the data with the help of SPSS version 27. Findings show that monopoly of value-added tax by states will negatively and significantly affect employment, revenue generation, and economic development of other states. The study concluded that value-added tax revenues should be generated for redistribution to states and local governments in Nigeria to argument their internally generated revenue as this will enhance growth and economic development. It was recommended by the study that resources should be redistributed equitable and fairly by the federal government so as to reduce persistent friction in the revenue allocation
