This thematic issue is a continuation of the annual
meeting of GECat (French acronym for Study Group on
Catalysis), held in Mont Sainte-Odile, nearby Obernai
(Alsace, France) from26 to 29May 2015. Founded in 1970by
both academic and industrial researchers, GECat joined the
French Chemical Society as a thematic group in 2001. GECat
aims at bringing together the French-speaking researchers
of the catalysis community. GECat organizes thematic
annual meetings in order to develop exchanges among re-
searchers and promote the integration of young researchers

Division (Divcat). It is given to a young researcher (under 40)
who has significantly contributed to catalysis. In 2015,
Nicolas Bion (IC2MP, Poitiers),was rewarded for hiswork on
the development of new synthesis tools in non-
conventional media.
The topics of themeetings are definedby theGECat board
every year. They cover both emerging issues andmajor areas
of research in catalysis. In 2015, the topics focused on the
comparison between model and real feeds, electrocatalysis,
photocatalysis, and plasma-assisted catalysis, and finally to
(multi)metallic catalysts. The 10 articles published in this
issue deal with these topics, which were widely discussedprize winners/comite d'organisation et laureats de prix.

issues, showing the vitality of catalysis research in both ac-
ademic and industrial groups, from France or elsewhere.
We thank the invited speakers as well as the partici-
pants (Fig. 1) for their contribution to the success of the
conferences and of this thematic issue.
Finally, we are indebted to Pierre Braunstein, Editor-in-
chief of the Comptes rendus Chimie, who has supported our
project of a thematic issue, and to Fatima Messadi for the

Ce numero thematique fait suite a la reunion annuelle
du groupement d’etude sur la catalyse (GECat) qui s'est
tenue au pied du mont Saint-Odile pres d’Obernai (Alsace)
du 26 au 29 mai 2015. Fonde en 1970 par des chercheurs
academiques et industriels, le GECat est un groupe
thematique de la Societe chimique de France (SCF) depuis
2001, et a pour vocation de federer la communaute fran-
cophone de catalyse. Il organise des reunions thematiques
annuelles dans le but de promouvoir les echanges entre
chercheurs et de favoriser l'integration de jeunes cher-
cheurs (doctorants, post-doctorants). C'est egalement a
l'occasion de la reunion du GECat qu'est remis le prix de la
division catalyse (Divcat) de la SCF. Ce prix est decerne a un
jeune chercheur (de moins de 40 ans) ayant apporte une
contribution majeure a la catalyse. [En2015], il a ete remis a
Nicolas Bion, de l'institut de chimie des milieux et
materiaux de Poitiers, pour ses travaux lies au
developpement de syntheses ecocompatibles, notamment
utilisant des milieux non conventionnels.
Les themes des reunions sont definis par le bureau du
GECat. Ils couvrent a la fois des sujets emergents ainsi
que les grands champs de recherche de la catalyse. Les
themes choisis en 2015 ont porte sur les catalyseurs
metalliques et multi-metalliques, sur la comparaison
entre charge modele et charge reelle ou complexe, et
finalement un theme dedie a l’electrocatalyse, la photo-
catalyse & la catalyse assistee par plasma. La dizaine
d'articles parus dans ce numero portent sur ces
differentes thematiques refletant la diversite des travauxde recherche issus de groupes academiques ou industri-
els, de France et d'ailleurs.
Nous remercions les conferenciers invites ainsi que les
participants (Fig. 1) pour leur contribution a la reussite du
congres et de ce numero.
Enfin, nous sommes reconnaissants a Pierre Braunstein,
redacteur en chef des Comptes rendus Chimie, pour avoir
permis l’edition de ce numero thematique, ainsi qu'a Mme
Fatima Messadi pour la gestion des manuscrits.
