Nación, sujeto y psique: la construcción psicológica del nacionalismo
Get PDFThe main objective of the research has been to explore the close, complex and understudied relationship between the sciences of the mind and the political doctrine of nationalism, between the academic languages of the psyche and the ideological voices of the Nation. With this aim, we have traced the multiple imprints of psychological language in the academic literature on nationalism produced in the past one and half centuries, from the first contributions of the psychology of peoples and the studies on the national character, to degenerationist psychiatry, the psychology of the masses or multitudes, the social psychology of prejudice and psychoanalysis. Although psychology has often claimed to be a discipline ultimately capable of explaining the adhesion of individuals to the Nation or the passion that nationalism stirs in mass followings, our objective here has been to present the languages of psychology as part of the ideological accounts or discourses that have contributed to the social and cultural construction of nations and nationalisms.El objetivo principal del trabajo ha sido el de explorar la estrecha, compleja y poco estudiada relación entre las ciencias de la mente y la doctrina política del nacionalismo, entre los lenguajes académicos de la psique y las voces ideológicas de la Nación. Para ello, hemos rastreado las múltiples huellas del lenguaje psicológico en la literatura académica sobre el nacionalismo producida durante el último siglo y medio, desde las primeras aportaciones de la psicología de los pueblos y los estudios sobre el carácter nacional, a la psiquiatría degeneracionista, la psicología de las masas o multitudes, la psicología social del prejuicio y el psicoanálisis. Aunque la psicología se ha presentado no pocas veces como una disciplina capaz de explicar en último término la adhesión de los individuos a la Nación o la pasión de masas del nacionalismo, nuestro objetivo en esta ocasión ha sido presentar los lenguajes de la psicología como parte de los relatos o discursos ideológicos que han contribuido a la construcción social y cultural de naciones y nacionalismos
Bajtin y lo Social: Del Discurso a la Actividad Dialógica Heteroglósica
No full textThis article reviews the work of Mikhail Bakhtin, an author who has become referent for contemporary social science. Here we review some of its most important conceptual proposals such as the notions of utterance, dialogue, responsiveness, and heteroglossia discourse genres, as part of a theory centered on the activity. From this review we discuss some effects that these concepts have to consider the subject and the social as objects of theory and research in social sciences.Este artículo revisa el trabajo de Mijail Bajtín, un autor que se ha transformado en referencial para las Ciencias Sociales contemporáneas. Es así, que se abordan algunas de sus propuestas conceptuales más relevantes tales como las nociones de enunciación, dialogismo, responsividad, géneros discursivos y heteroglosia, en el marco de una teoría centrada en el acontecimiento y en la actividad. A partir de esta revisión se discuten algunos efectos que estos conceptos tienen para la consideración de sujeto y de lo social como objetos de la teoría e investigación en ciencias sociales

Get PDFThis work examines from the perspective of critical discourse analysis, the Attention Deficit with Hyperactivity Disorder diagnosis as stated by the DSM–IV and ICD-10. It considers as basis the difficulties posed by medical taxonomy of childhood as a distinct social category from adulthood, the using the sign of hyperkinesia as an evidence of the disorder, and the utilization of auxiliary instruments, external to the clinical “setting”, as the “Test of Conners”. The context of analysis refers to conditions present in Chile. Specifically, taking into consideration the diagnostic applications in the institutional space of the school. Finally, the diagnosis is analyzed from the uses and effects in regulating and self-government of individuals and bodies.Este trabajo examina desde la perspectiva del análisis crítico del discurso, el diagnóstico del Trastorno de Déficit Atencional con Hiperactividad, tal como lo plantea el DSM–IV y CIE-10. Considera como fundamento las dificultades que la taxonomía médica plantea respecto de la infancia como categoría social distinta de la adultez, la utilización del signo de la hipercinesia como prueba del trastorno, y el uso de instrumentos auxiliares ajenos al setting clínico, como el “Test de Conners”. El contexto de análisis remite a las condiciones presentes en Chile. En específico, considera los usos del diagnóstico en el espacio institucional de la escuela. Como aspectos finales, se analiza el diagnóstico desde sus usos y efectos en la regulación y autogobierno de los individuos y sus cuerpos
Aspectos ideológicos presentes na construção da memória coletiva
Get PDFIn the present paper, we analyze possible articulations between memory and ideology, highlighting the mechanisms that render memory an ideological construction. We are aware that “memory” and “ideology” are complex and controversial concepts which have originated a plurality of conceptions and have fostered intense discussions. Recognizing the difficulty of such an enterprise, we believe that it is important to understand the relations between both phenomena, and to highlight the peculiarities of a memory that is constituted from ideologies. It should be mentioned that not every memory is ideological - only those that, as a result of social disputes, legitimate an official version of the past, distort representations, promote oblivion of political events and institutionalize the memory of winners in order to hide domination relations and to consolidate the constituted power.No presente artigo, analisamos as possíveis articulações entre memória e ideologia, ressaltando os mecanismos que tornam a memória uma construção ideológica. Estamos cientes de que “memória” e “ideologia” são conceitos complexos e controversos, que deram origem a uma pluralidade de concepções e fomentaram intensas discussões. Não desconsiderando a dificuldade de tal empreitada, reconhecemos a importância de compreender as relações entre ambos os fenômenos, destacando as peculiaridades de uma memória que se constitui a partir de ideologias. Cabe salientar que nem toda memória é ideológica, mas apenas aquelas que, como resultado de disputas sociais, legitimam uma versão oficial do passado, distorcem as representações, promovem o esquecimento de eventos políticos e institucionalizam a memória dos vencedores para ocultar relações de dominação e consolidar o poder constituído
Subjetividades, lo político y la política: derivas de una discusión teórica
Get PDFIn the paper that follows, I propose myself to tense a series of theoretical discussions on what each one of them understand by subjetification processes, in a social and political key. With that purpose in mind, I organize the writing into two sections. The first one will discuss the processes of subjective setting-up from the perspective of Slavoj Zizek taking his dialogue with the lacanian psychoanalysis, thinking on its approaches on the renewed spot of the subject in the postestructuralist frame. In a second moment, I will continue with the proposals of Judith Butler and Ernesto Laclau, taking Jacques Rancière as a counterpoint with the aim of resituate the point on the subjetification process as a political commitment. The main goal I am pursuing with this critique relies on reflecting, on the one hand, on the strictly political character that some authors give to the subjetive constitution process itself, while, on the other hand, I am interested on the possible divergences on those that examine the process in a mayor and more complex frame, related to the constitution of the social. The starting point of this reflections is found on the differences that a myriad of authors compromised with a posfundacional view have proposed between the political and the politics, and on the spot of the subject on that arena.En el trabajo que sigue me propongo poner en tensión una serie de discusiones teóricas en torno a lo que cada una de ellas entiende por procesos de subjetivación, en clave social y política. Para ello, organizo la escritura en dos secciones. La primera discutirá los procesos de construcción subjetiva desde la propuesta de Slavoj Zizek, a partir de su diálogo desde el psicoanálisis lacaniano, pensando sus aportes sobre el renovado lugar del sujeto en el marco del postestructuralismo. En un segundo momento, por otra parte, avanzaré sobre las propuestas de Judith Butler y Ernesto Laclau tomando como contrapunto a Jacques Ranciére, con la idea de resituar el énfasis en torno al proceso de subjetivación como apuesta política. El objetivo principal que persigo con esta lectura crítica consiste en reflexionar, por un lado, sobre el carácter estrictamente político que algunos autores otorgan al proceso de constitución subjetiva misma, mientras que, además, me interesan las posibles divergencias entre quienes examinan dicho proceso en un marco más amplio y complejo de constitución de lo social. El punto de partida de estas reflexiones se encuentra en la diferenciación que una miríada de autores comprometidos con una mirada posfundacional han propuesto entre lo político y la política, pensando el lugar del sujeto en esa arena
El váter de la escuela. Una reflexión sobre género, arquitectura y educación
Get PDFIn this article I propose a topic rarely discussed publicly in education: the design and use of school toilets. Both at home and at school pupils learn to urinate according to the dichotomy "standing (boy) / sitting (girl)”. I analyze the reasons for this division and its consequences, making reference to male resistance to the use of a seat, as a specific construct of masculinity. The text also addresses the separation of school toilets according to gender and points out the implications of this fact, referring in particular to disabled pupils and transgender students. Lastly I describe some new proposals in relation to this topic that are taking place in a school undergoing construction. The article is directed at those interested in gender issues, at educators in general, and at those involved with the architecture of public buildings and of educational facilities in particular.En este texto reflexiono sobre un aspecto que apenas se ha debatido de modo público en el mundo de la educación: el diseño y uso de los váteres escolares. Tanto en la familia como en la escuela el alumnado aprende a orinar en la dicotomía “de pie (niño) / sentada (niña)”. En el artículo analizo las razones de esta división así como sus consecuencias, y trato las resistencias de los varones ante el asiento. Por otro lado, abordo la actual separación de los retretes escolares por género y expongo las implicaciones de este hecho, aludiendo en particular al alumnado discapacitado y al alumnado transexual. Explico, por último, la propuesta novedosa en este terreno de un centro escolar concreto que se encuentra en obras. El artículo está destinado a personas interesadas en cuestiones de género, a profesorado en general y a quienes se dedican a la arquitectura de espacios educativos
Violencias y resistencias desde una Producción Narrativa con militantes del Chile postdictatorial
Get PDFPolitical violence being a relevant issue of our recent past that is still present in Chilean society, from the approach of the Social Psychology of Memory in this paper we review and discuss some aspects of violence and resistance of the decade nineties in Chile and its relationship with the present. Dealing with this theme it is developed in terms of a Narrative Production made with subjects ascribed to the use of violence as a strategy of revolutionary political struggle during the dictatorship and transition to democracy. The review and analysis of some segments of the Narrative Production realizes the characteristics of the political violence of the period and the forms of resistance to such violence as soon as conceptions that individuals have on the subject and its manifestations todaySiendo la violencia política un tema relevante de nuestro pasado reciente y que sigue estando presente en la sociedad chilena, desde la aproximación de la Psicología Social de la Memoria en el presente trabajo revisamos y discutimos algunos aspectos relativos a las violencias y resistencias de la década del noventa en Chile y su articulación con el presente. El abordaje de este tema se desarrolla en función de una Producción Narrativa elaborada con sujetos que adscribieron al uso de la violencia como estrategia de lucha política revolucionaria durante la dictadura y en la transición a la democracia. La revisión y análisis de algunos segmentos de la Producción Narrativa da cuenta de las características de la violencia política del periodo y de las formas de resistencia a dicha violencia, así como de las concepciones que los sujetos tienen sobre el tema y sus manifestaciones en la actualidad.
De los márgenes al centro: Una aplicación del feminismo postcolonial a los derechos humanos
Get PDFIn the last decades, postcolonial feminism has had enormous consequences for the reconceptualization of politics or rights. In light of this, the present paper explores the crossroads among postcolonial feminism, human rights and citizenship. The paper follows bell hook’s theoretical work. It does so by first, the paper reviews the emergence of postcolonial feminism and analyzes the key topics of debate generated by these approaches within Women Studies. Secondly, the paper examines some of the dilemmas and criticisms provoked by these approaches to the concept of human rights. The paper concludes by exploring the ways in which postcolonial feminist approaches might continue to make significant advancement in rethinking citizenshipEn las últimas décadas, el feminismo postcolonial ha tenido enormes consecuencias para las posibilidades de reconceptualización de la política o los derechos. A la luz de esto, el ensayo explora las relaciones entre feminismo postcolonial, derechos humanos y democracia. Este artículo sigue el trabajo teórico de bell hooks. En primer lugar el trabajo revisa la emergencia del feminismo postcolonial y analiza puntos claves del debate generado por estas aproximaciones dentro de los estudios de mujeres. En segundo lugar, el artículo examina alguno de los dilemas y críticas provocadas por las aproximación es al concepto de derechos humanos. El ensayo concluye estudiando las formas en las que las aproximaciones del feminismo postcolonial podrían realizar avances significados en la manera de repensar la ciudadanía
