Hydrogel immobilized microalgae-alginate beads to model the fermentation of phenol-containing wastewater into biohydrogen molecules
The potential of hydrogel immobilized microalgae-alginate beads to concurrently remove phenol and produce biohydrogen molecules from phenol-containing wastewaters with different phenol concentrations of 0.2 g/L to 1.2 g/L via dark fermentation had been successfully modelled and proven. Highest biohydrogen production and phenol removal were achieved at phenol concentration of 1.2 g/L. The lag phase of biohydrogen production increased with increasing of phenol concentration as the microalgal cells entailed a longer time to acclimatize in inhibitory medium of high phenol strength. The extended period for fermentation could also generate more biohydrogen molecules as compared with batch setup that was easily inhibited due to inadequate acclimatization allocation. Then, a new kinetic model was rederived from the modified Gompertz model and Andrew’s inhibition model to describe the relationship between phenol concentration impacting the microalgal growth and subsequent biohydrogen production. Low concentration of phenol could serve as an alternative source of carbon to promote the microalgal growth and development; but high phenol concentration could hinder the growth of microalgae, afflicting the fermentative biohydrogen production. The rederived kinetic model was able to fit the experimental data for all phenol concentrations with coefficients of determination of greater than 0.95. This study had ultimately evidenced that the immobilized microalgae were able to ferment phenol and produce biohydrogen molecules simultaneously from phenol-containing wastewater.補正完畢NL
A Convolutional Neural Network with Multifrequency and Structural Similarity Loss Functions for Electromagnetic Imaging
In this paper, artificial intelligence (AI) technology is applied to the electromagnetic imaging of anisotropic objects. Advances in magnetic anomaly sensing systems and electromagnetic imaging use electromagnetic principles to detect and characterize subsurface or hidden objects. We use measured multifrequency scattered fields to calculate the initial dielectric constant distribution of anisotropic objects through the backpropagation scheme (BPS). Later, the estimated multifrequency permittivity distribution is input to a convolutional neural network (CNN) for the adaptive moment estimation (ADAM) method to reconstruct a more accurate image. In the meantime, we also improve the definition of loss function in the CNN. Numerical results show that the improved loss function unifying the structural similarity index measure (SSIM) and root mean square error (RMSE) can effectively enhance image quality. In our simulation environment, noise interference is considered for both TE (transverse electric) and TM (transverse magnetic) waves to reconstruct anisotropic scatterers. Lastly, we conclude that multifrequency reconstructions are more stable and precise than single-frequency reconstructions.補正完畢CH
Integration of LoRa-enabled IoT infrastructure for advanced campus safety systems in Taiwan
Amid rising concerns about campus safety in Taiwan, particularly with the global trend towards smart cities, integrating the Internet of Things (IoT) into institutional security frameworks has become pivotal. The paper discusses the implementation of using iBeacons and Long Range (LoRa) technology to locating the student position and ensure his safety in the school campus. It uses Internet of Things (IoT) approach in real time to monitor and locate the student presence in the school compound. This paper unveils an innovative design for a campus security system that harnesses the LoRa technology. In the system, the students are equipped with devices containing Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) beacons to capture and transmit real-time location data. The system response time to locating student in abnormal locations such as cornered and concealed areas is about one second. By extending this system to cover all individuals on campus, a closely monitored environment and areas is enabled that significantly bolstering the security measures. This not only furnishes a dynamic protective layer for educational institutions but also serves as a proactive deterrent against potential security breaches. Ultimately, this research underscores the transformative potential of merging IoT with campus security to ushering in a new era of student safety. LoRa technology offers advantages in battery life, cost-effectiveness, deployment flexibility, and network coverage etc. Therefore, this paper ultimately provides a method of how to utilize the LoRa technology to develop a campus security system. Unlike artificial intelligence (AI)-based image recognition, which raises concerns about privacy and human rights; the features of LoRa’s long-range communication and low power consumption make it a more suitable choice.補正完畢NL

Interpolating supersymmetric pair of Fokker-Planck equations
We consider Fokker-Planck equations that interpolate a pair of supersymmetrically related Fokker-Planck equations with constant diffusion coefficients. Based on the interesting property of shape-invariance, various one-parameter interpolations of the solutions of the supersymmetric pair of Fokker-Planck systems can be directly constructed.補正完畢GB
A two-dimensional hyperbolic spring model for mat foundation in clays subjected to vertical load
This study proposes a two-dimensional hyperbolic soil spring model for mat foundations in clays subjected to vertically uniform loads to simplify the complexity of three-dimensional finite element analysis on mat foundations. The solutions from three-dimensional finite element analysis were examined to determine the hyperbolic model parameters of the soil springs underneath the slab. Utilizing these model parameters, normalized functions across the middle section of the mat were obtained. The solutions from the proposed model, along with the approximate finite difference analysis of the mat in clays under vertical load, were found to be consistent with those from the three-dimensional finite element analysis. The authors conclude that the proposed method can serve as an alternative for the preliminary design of mat foundations.補正完畢KO
A Study on Teachers’ Inquiry Teaching, Savoring Teaching and Teaching Innovation in Junior High School
探究教學是十二年國民基本教育課程積極推動的教學方式,有於增進深化素養學習、提升問題解決能力。在此新的轉變下,讓教師面臨許多新的挑戰,但同時也提供了新的契機,孕育教師的品味教學與教學創新,如此將有助於教師探究教學實踐的持續與推廣。因此,本研究探討國中教師的探究教學、品味教學與教學創新的現況,並分析探究教學對品味教學與教學創新的關係,作為學校與教師實施與推廣探究教學之參考。本研究針對臺北市、新北市及桃園市的國中教師實施問卷調查,共回收302 份,回收率為67.7%。問卷資料經採多變量變異數分析、結構方程模式分析後,發現一些重要結論。首先,新課綱的實施與專業對話氛圍,增進教師探究教學的實施,也提升了品味教學與創新;其次,積極實施探究教學,有助於增進品味教學與教學創新,讓教師更有動力持續精進教學;再者,資淺教師、導師與兼任組長的品味教學或教學創新較低,需要學校提供專業支持;最後,本研究提供了探究教學實施有助於品味教學與創新的實徵證據,可以豐富探究教學學術研究成果,也可以作為學校推動探究教學的實務參考。此外,依據結論並提出相關建議供學校與教師實施新課綱探究教學參考。補正完畢TW
Fuzzy portfolio selection in the trade-off between different economy trends and security returns
Portfolio selection has been applied to the allocation of assets among the selected securities for obtaining the most profitable return. However, the theory of behavioural finance proposes that the investment proportions of securities are not only determined by the intrinsic value of the security but also largely affected by the behaviour of investors. Therefore, the behaviour analysis of an investor should play a major role in the portfolio selection. In this study, we apply a piecewise linear function to decompose the fuzzy expected return rates by judging the economy trend which transits from the current stage into the next stage and an upward or downward trend for each security return in the next stage. Analysis results indicated that we could obtain the investment proportions for the selected securities in different transitions to the economy stage with the judgement of upward or downward trend to each security. The portfolio selection in which the economy transits to the recovery stage derived a higher expected return rate than the other stages. Finally, in the illustration, any investor can use the selected portfolio by his investment behaviour after collecting the required information for the economy stage and return trends of securities.補正完畢GB
