Exploring how generativity influences the online review continuity of museums: the double-edged sword of monetary rewards

    No full text
This study applies social capital theory to investigate the influence of generativity on online review continuity (ORC), an essential factor in guiding tourism choices, especially for museums. Results reveal that intrinsic motivations – specifically, the desire to support visitors and museums – are critical for sustaining review activity. Unexpectedly, monetary incentives can amplify generativity's positive effect on ORC and engagement. However, they may also reduce intrinsic motivations, potentially undermining the consistency of supportive behaviors from visitors and museums vital for ongoing ORC. These findings highlight the importance of carefully applying incentives to maintain intrinsic motivation. Using fsQCA, we identify two pathways that lead to ORC and establish the moderating effect of incentives, providing museums with strategies to foster lasting online engagement. By connecting motivational dynamics with actionable, sustainable practices, this research offers valuable insights to advance tourism development and cultural management, enriching the literature on tourism behavior and digital engagement.

Does the role of festival rituals matter in fostering cultural resonance and community citizenship?

    No full text
The Moon Worshiping Cultural Festival, which is celebrated during the Mid-Autumn Festival in Shuangjing Village, Jiangxi, China, offers a valuable setting for exploring how ritual activities influence residents’ citizenship behavior. This study underscores the influential role of these rituals in fostering community engagement and navigating cultural continuity amid change. Grounding the research in social cognitive theory highlights how the ritual sense of festival activities (RSFA) stimulates shifts in cultural confidence and identity, ultimately influencing behavior. The study demonstrates how RSFA strengthens cultural belonging and commitment to heritage, driving proactive citizenship behavior. Additionally, it examines how cultural contact moderates these transformations, with immersive experiences deepening their impact. By framing RSFA within evolving cultural practices, this study contributes to understanding how festivals can reinforce cultural identity, facilitate social integration, and adapt to changing contexts. The findings offer practical insights for sustaining traditions while promoting community engagement in an era of sociocultural transformation.

The Impact of Shanghai-Hong Kong Stock Connect on Positive feedback trading effect in the Hong Kong and Shanghai stock markets

    No full text
This study aims to evaluate whether or not positive feedback trading behavior existed in Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index (HSI) and China's SSE A-share Index(ASI) and whether the Shanghai-Hong Kong Stock Connect program (SHSCP) has had the effect of enhancing positive feedback trading on HSI and ASI. The findings showed that the policy of SHSCP had a significant effect on the increase in the positive feedback trading in Hong Kong's stock market. We also found that the Hong Kong stock market reacted more significantly to the SHSCP than China's A-share stock market.

Constraining Resolved Extragalactic R21 Variation with Well-calibrated ALMA Observations

    No full text
CO(1–0) and CO(2–1) are commonly used as bulk molecular gas tracers. The CO line ratios (especially CO(2–1)/CO(1–0)–R21) vary within and among galaxies, yet previous studies on R21 and alike often rely on measurements constructed by combining data from facilities with substantial relative calibration uncertainties that have the same order as physical line ratio variations. Hence, robustly determining systematic R21 variations is challenging. Here, we compare CO(1–0) and CO(2–1) mapping data from ALMA for 14 nearby galaxies, at a common physical resolution of 1.7 kpc. Our data set includes new ALMA (7 m+TP) CO(1–0) maps of 12 galaxies. We investigate R21 variation to understand its dependence on global galaxy properties, kiloparsec-scale environmental factors, and its correlation with star formation rate (SFR) surface density and metallicity. We find that the galaxy-to-galaxy scatter is 0.05 dex. This is lower than previous studies, which reported over 0.1 dex variation, likely reflecting significant flux calibration uncertainties in single-dish surveys. Within individual galaxies, R21 has a typical mean value of ∼0.64 and 0.1 dex variation, with an increase to ∼0.75 toward galactic centers. We find strong correlations between R21 and various galactic parameters, particularly SFR surface density, which shows a power-law slope of 0.10–0.11 depending on the adopted binning/fitting methods. Our findings suggest that, for studies covering main-sequence galaxy samples, assuming a fixed R21 = 0.64 does not significantly bias kiloparsec-scale molecular gas mass estimates from CO(2–1). Instead, systematic uncertainties from flux calibration and the CO-to-H2 conversion factor account for more systematic scatter of CO-derived molecular gas properties.
