The independent variables for indirect investment were: investment trusts, exchange-traded funds, commingled funds, and infrastructure funds. The dependent variable was the performance of real estate in Nairobi County Kenya. Secondary data was collected from the real estate’s online sources and some from the company offices and analyzed using multiple regression analysis. Both descriptive statistics and inferential statistics were determined. The study was only able to collect secondary data from 45 real estate companies out of the target population of 69 registered by KPDA in 2015 as it was hard to get data of the rest either from online sources or from the company offices. With the aid of STATA 12.0 software and Excel software, quantitative results were tabulated and presented in the form of charts, bar graphs, and narratives. The study found an existing relationship between the performance of the real estate sector and the Investment Trust Fund, the Exchange Trust Fund, the Commingled Fund, Infrastructure Fund. The study concludes that most of the coefficients were significant. The study also concludes that there is a relationship between the performance of the real estate sector and the Investment Trust Fund, Exchange Trust Fund, Commingled Fund, Infrastructure Fund when these components are considered together, they affect Performance

    Get PDF
Despite the theoretical foundation that links Transformational leadership (TFL) with innovation behavior, previous studies have overlooked on Transformational leadership and innovation behavior at the individual level relationship but paid less attention to how transformational leadership qualities of top leaders would advance innovative work behavior within the organizational setting. To date, the impact of Transformational leadership at a top executive level on employee’s innovative work behavior (IWB) within an organizational setting has not been dealt with in-depth. However, using transformational leadership theory, this study uncovers the pivotal role of innovation culture (IC) and managerial innovation (MI) in the relationship between CEO transformational leadership and employee’s innovation behavior in SMEs. A cross-sectional design with a total of 434 employees from 24 SMEs operating from Rwanda was analyzed using structural equation modeling to evaluate the relationship between the variables developed in the study. The findings of this study support our hypothesized model

Mock Bank practices and employee performance in the banking sector: A case study of Union Bank PLC

    Get PDF
The practice of mock bank is an institutional arrangement to expose potential bankers to basic rudiments of banking operations with the ultimate aim of increasing the profitability of the organization through employee performance. This study assessed the impact of mock bank practices on employee performance in the banking sector as a panacea for repositioning the Nigerian economy with a specific focus on Union Bank Plc. The objective is to examine the contributions of operational experience to staff, ascertain the impact of professional ethics on commercial banks in Nigeria and identify the contributions of knowledge of organizational structure on the operations of commercial banks. T-statistics was used to test the three hypotheses. Results showed that there is a significant relationship between experienced, knowledge of job ethics, and organizational structure by employees before recruitment and performance at the workplace when compared to those recruited before training. Further results revealed that employees that had mock bank experiences perform better with less supervision. It was recommended that reinforcement of mock bank practices in tertiary institutions in Nigeria and allotment of higher credit units to mock bank practice should be encouraged

A practical approach to global competitive factors: achieving key success parameters in international business

Multi-game simulations are the most widely used tools in international business and strategic management education. In Business Schools, all courses from Strategy to Finance are taught from case studies and books, using research results. But when managing a business, there is no way to learn the parts of the business from books by gaining experience in complete integrity. Company management competence requires practice in areas such as production, marketing, R & D, finance, operations, and strategy. The simplest way to practice this in the learning process is through business simulations and multi-game applications. These simulations help students to acquire workforce skills by practicing critical thinking, making better decisions and solving business problems. It has taken its place in education life as a powerful teaching tool for business simulations. The student teams compete with each other by running multinational enterprises over several game rounds, and the round represents a fiscal year. International business development games are decided and risk-free. During the simulation process, they have to decide on a product portfolio, pricing, advertising, production, R & D and financial structure in each round. International business aspects of the games include exchange rate fluctuations, trade barriers, different tax rates between countries, shipping points and international cash management. In the room, players are interested in the current national differences, including preferred ones, price sensitivity, production location, market growth, business environment, and economic growth. Instructors follow which decisions will be highlighted in the course\u27s planned learning objectives and guide preferences for students. We will explore the decisions and knowledge of CAPSIM Global DNA in a multi-game design. This article differs from other studies in that it is a study that puts forward the theory and application of a computerized representation simultaneously

Non-performing assets of banks and economic growth vinculum in the era of globalization: The Indian experience

    Get PDF
The introduction of the New Economic Policy (NEP) in 1991 by the Government of India (GoI) made it very clear that the viability of commercial banks is conditioned on their ability to make profits. In a globalized world, the whims and fancies of business cycles govern the fate of banks and a recessionary phase hampers the bank’s ability to pile on the profits thereby increasing their stock of non-performing assets. India, recently, is placed in a very bizarre situation, — some of the renowned banks are reporting huge losses but there is a very limited impact on stock markets. Strategically, the government, however, has taken corrective measures to arrest the growth of non-performing assets (NPAs) of banks. This paper builds upon a time series model capturing the position of NPAs of banks in India (excluding foreign banks operating in India). Empirically, there is a uni-directional causal relationship running from NPAs of banks to growth. Theoretically, what we can conclude is that imposing strict lending norms on banks actually manifests itself into a deeper recession, lowers growth and in turn aggravates the NPA problem further

The term high-tech, covering the high-tech industry and the information-intensive service sector, is based on advanced scientific and technological expertise that requires science, technology, and innovation (STI), and is based on Research & Development expenditure. Sectoral, product and patent approaches are used for classification by OECD and European Union. Literature review on high-tech show that countries focusing on Research and Development Expenditures and new patents have succeeded in increasing their high-tech exports as well. Turkey is one of the countries where the levels of high-tech export is not at the desired levels yet therefore the government must give incentives for Research and Development expenditures and new patents for innovation, as high-tech export affects GDP growth positively

oai:ojs2.www.bussecon.com:article/95This paper examined the effect of power supply and the performances of Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs). In doing this, the paper used durations of public power supply, bills paid for public power and cost paid for private power supply as measures of power supply on the performances index of the SMEs in Port Harcourt. The performance indexes are employed in the models as the dependent variables while the power supply indexes are the explanatory variables. The data were sourced primarily through a well-structured questionnaire and the samples determined by the Cochran sampling techniques. The data were analyzed with the Qualitative Respond Model. It was revealed that a lower duration of public power supply significantly reduces the profitability, productivity and revenue, as well as the storage of products of the SMSEs, examined. Hence, the study recommended among others that there is a need to allocate more electric power to the industrial area of Rivers state- Port Harcourt, especially in the day light to encourage productivity, profitability and employment generation in the state
