Conflictul din Transnistria: intre solutii si inconsecvente
Given the circumstances of the Soviet breakdown, not all the countries in the East had the success of the Baltic ones and had to struggle to impose their authority on all their territories. In the early '90s, many of the new states from the East were on the edge of civil war and in the middle of crisis with their secessionist regions. Because European Union was not prepared for all these struggles, it chose to focus on the Balkans and on the accession procedures for the Central and Eastern Europe. Transnistria became a point of interest for the EU as soon as Romania joined it and the last frontier to the East was with Republic of Moldova. The initiatives of the European Neighbourhood Policy in the East aimed at gathering the states around a set of values and Moldova was a success story. Unfortunately, there is still the unsolved problem of Transnistria. In this paper I argue that the inconsistencies in the European Union's influence and the continuous compromises of Chisinau contributed to the strengthening of Tiraspol and the perpetuating of this unstable situation
New Tribalism in Europe
Our paper is dedicated to tendencies of tribalism which appear in contemporary Europe. We can see them also in post-communist societies, e.g. in Poland, Czech Republic and Lithuania. Postmodernity is similar to the traditional order characterized by an ethnic mosaic and so-called fragmentarized identity. These tendencies are located in opposition to the project of homogeneous modern state nation. They are a real challenge for nation states. The question concerning relation between tribalism and European integration processes is still open. We can see positive aspects of tribalization for the realization of the idea of united Europe. It weakens the power of nation state which supports the process of building supranational structures. However, the situation is more complicated. New ethnic nations can ultimately be guided by ethnical selfish. In this time they disintegrate nation states but in the future their disintegration activity could be directed at the European Union
Utilizarea mijloacelor financiare publice pentru cresterea prezentei femeilor in politica. Cazul Romaniei
Affirmative action taken for the enhancement of women?s access to central and local decision making positions constitutes a quick and efficient solution for reducing gender inequalities. The most wide-spread such measure is the gender quotas, adopted either nationally, by law, or in particular cases - such as political parties - by statute. A less-known practice is trough the use of public financing means, more specifically, trough subventions given to political parties (via the national budget or trough other means). In this article I will try to analyze the way in which this second strategy succeeds in stimulating the political parties to promote women in local and parliamentary elections
Gender Relations and the Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ)

The filter bubble – a constructivist approach
The social media filter bubble has been a widely discussed issue in the aftermath of the most recent global political events. The following paper aims to explore this issue through the lenses of social constructivism. I will attempt to draw inspiration from the social construction of technology theory in order to explain the effects of the feed algorithms present in the design of social media platforms. In order to accomplish this, I will try to understand the interaction between the users and the platforms from a psychological viewpoint. The concepts of relational motives, epistemic motives and existential motives represent a relevant guide for explaining the needs and characteristics of the users that have lead to the development of elective affinities towards sources of information that are congruent with one’s worldview. I will argue that this is a part of the social construction of the digital technological artifact represented by the feed algorithm and is reflected in the tendency that individuals display towards ideological thinking. Finally, the main thesis of this paper is that the design of the social media platforms, with the addition of the feed algorithms, is not the main explanation for the filter bubble issue, but the nature of the user and the needs that drives them towards forming ideological affiliations
Regionalization, Competitiveness and innovation. The case of Romania
It is known that as of 1998 Romania has started a Top-Down process of regionalization. The main purpose of this process was to subdivide the national territory according to the criteria of the NUTS classification used in the European Union both for statistical purposes and as a dimension to access EU fundings. Within this framework the paper aims to assess the development of the competitiveness of the “new” Romanian regions with a particular focus on innovation seen as a determining factor. For this purpose are mainly used the data shown in the last report on the Regional Competitive Index, by making comparisons with the different European countries and their regions. It emerges that even in a context of progress towards a higher competitiveness, regions in Romania show a substantial deficit in terms of innovation. This condition seems to be indicative of a structural weakness of the innovation process related to both the regional economic structure and to the system of R & D. To keep up with the other European regional economies is crucial that significant efforts are made in the direction of promoting innovation and thus competitiveness also to improve integration in the dynamics of the European economy
