A Review of Sustainable Finance and Financial Performance Literature: Mini-Review Approach
oai:ojs2.journal.srnintellectual.com:article/1Sustainable development is a concept of how finance interacts with the economy, society, and the environment. As a form of transformation, a sustainable financial system exists to direct business practices by allocating investment funding to productive activities. Financial institutions, especially banks as funders, must ensure that all funds used for company activities create long-term value for the environment and society. Implementing sustainable finance is expected to help deal with uncertain environmental issues, such as carbon emissions on climate change. This paper seeks to provide an understanding of the literature on sustainable finance financing and corporate financial performance in the global banking sector. This research was designed using a qualitative approach through a literature study. Reviews on sustainable finance were conducted by reading and analyzing 30 peer-reviewed journal articles and summarized in two tables, e.g., article journal and publisher distribution and article category on the basis of the subject. The result shows that sustainable finance has a significant positive relationship with banking financial performance. In conclusion, this study identified that companies began to adopt sustainability practices, and it has a positive impact on financial performance and survival, and many organizations are beginning to incorporate the elements of the SDGs into their business operations
Does Financial Literacy a Stimulus for Improving the Farmer\u27s Welfare in Serdang Bedagai, Indonesia?
Serdang Bedagai regency is one of the regions in North Sumatra Province that has a high source of income in agriculture. Nevertheless, most farmers have a low level of welfare, marked by the widespread practice of borrowing money from illegal intermediaries or pawnbrokers as an alternative funding source for farmers to meet urgent needs such as consumption, education, and health. This condition is detrimental to farmers due to the lack for more financial understanding, so making the right financial decisions is difficult. This study examines the effect of Financial Literacy, Financial Inclusion on the Welfare of Farmers. The population is farmers who cultivate agricultural land in the form of rice fields in Serdang Bedagai. This study uses a questionnaire distributed to Farmers in Serdang Bedagai. A total of 202 respondents participated in this study and were collected using convenience sampling. The data processing method used is Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with the alternative Partial Least Square (PLS) to determine the direct and indirect effect of financial literacy on the welfare of farmers through financial inclusion. This study found that financial inclusion has a positive and significant effect on the welfare of farmers in the Serdang Bedagai district. Financial literacy directly has a positive and significant impact on the welfare of farmers. In comparison, financial literacy does not significantly influence the welfare of farmers. However, financial inclusion can mediate the effect of financial literacy on the Welfare of Serdang Bedagai Farmers
A Study of Motivation and Commitment of Midwives’ Services to their Performance in Batam City Hospital, Indonesia
Service quality is determined by human resources, which can carry out services according to standards. Midwives\u27 services will be carried out optimally if each midwife understands her motivation and work commitment as a midwife. Her motivation and work commitment are a promise from a midwife or determination to carry out her activities as a midwife following the goals, positions, and scopes that have been determined in her duties. This study aims to determine the motivation and commitment to providing services to the performance of midwives at Batam City Hospital. This research is quantitative analytic, the place of research is at Batam City Hospital in January - July 2021, and the research population is all midwives who work at the Batam City District Hospital. Sampling technique with total sampling technique, the number of samples is 34 respondents. The results showed that 20 respondents had good motivation and performance, and 15 had good commitment and performance. In conclusion, there is a relationship between motivation and commitment to the performance of the midwife. Suggestions for midwives is that midwives maintain their motivation and commitment to providing services
The Moderating Role of Financial Supervision toward Quality of Financial Reporting at Deli Serdang, Indonesia
This study aims to analyse the determinants of the quality of information on the financial statements of the Deli Serdang district government with supervision as a moderating variable. In this study, we use the variable of human resources competency, government accounting standards, internal control systems and quality of local government financial report information. The population in this study were 90 employees in the accounting department at the SKPD in the Deli Serdang district, Indonesia. The data were collected using a survey questionnaire and analysed using the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) Partial Least Square (PLS). Also, it is assisted by SmartPLS-3. The result indicates that government accounting standards and internal control systems significantly affect the quality of local government financial statement information. In contrast, human resource competence does not significantly affect the quality of local government financial report information. Regional financial supervision cannot moderate the relationship between human resource competence, government accounting standards, and internal control systems on government financial report information quality
The Effects of Regional Expenditure, Inflation, and Credit Interest Rate on the Domestic Investment in Sumatera Province, Indonesia
The economic growth in a certain region is unity by a national development plan based on the autonomy as implemented by the region and formulation of the national development resource that leads to the improvement of regional development performance for realising fair public welfare without any deception. Domestic investment is an indicator of success for development investment in the region. This research was associative quantitative to identify the effect of regional expenditure, inflation, and interest rate on domestic investment in ten provinces of Sumatera from 2010 to 2020. This research used panel data. Regional expenditure, inflation, and interest rate simultaneously affected domestic investment. Regional expenditure partially had positive and insignificant effects on domestic investment. Inflation had a negative effect without showing significance on domestic investment, while an interest rate partially had a negative effect by showing significance for domestic investment. The coefficient of determination shows that regional expenditure, inflation, and interest rate yielded 39.91% for domestic investment
The Impact of Number of Employees, Palm Production and Export of Oil Palm on Malaysia Economic Growth
The agriculture sector in Malaysia especially for oil palm agriculture is the largest exporter and supplier after Indonesia the main source that contributes towards Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Growing oil palm agriculture provides the potential and opportunities to increase economic yields and create job opportunities for local people, especially those in rural areas. This study was conducted to examine the impact of the number of workers, palm fruit production and export of palm oil on GDP in Malaysia in terms of long and short term. To achieve the objectives of the study, the researcher has used a sample of secondary data from the Department of Statistics Malaysia from 1974 to 2019, which is 45 years using Time Series data. To identify the stationary of the variables, the Augmented Dickey-Fuller (ADF) test was used. To identify long-term relationships, the Long Run Bound Test (LRBT) was used. Meanwhile, to identify the short-term relationship, the Error Correction Model (ECM) method also was used in this study. The results of the ADF test was found that all the variables studied: the number of workers, palm fruit production and pal oil export were stationary. The effects of the variables in the agriculture sector have been given attention by the local government. Therefore, policy makers can use the result to improve existing economic policies as a measure to expand the country’s income sources in palm oil agriculture field and serve as a reference for stimulate country’s economic
Investigating the Performance of the Islamic Banking System and Social Welfare
This study was conducted to investigate further how Islamic Banking Performance may improve social welfare in Malaysia since the bank put one of its objectives to improve livelihood through its Shariah non-compliance fund. Reports highlighted that exceeding Shariah\u27s non-compliance risk will cause force majeure to the bank and even the risk of bankruptcy. This study aims to discuss and clarify the risk of non-compliance with Sharia Law in the Islamic financial system. The data for this research is based on annual financial reports ranging from the year 2014 until 2019, consisting of 8 Islamic Financial Institutions (IFIs) in Malaysia, namely; Affin Bank, Alliance Bank, Ambank, Bank Islam, Hong Leong Bank, Maybank, OCBC Al-Amin bank and Public bank. Three-stage least square method incorporates the mediator variable in the simultaneous equation model. The result of this study pointed out that both variables significantly impact each of them. In short, the Shariah non-compliance funds can indeed affect the main factor of bank failure, capital adequacy ratio, but it has a positive effect on social welfare through GDP at the same time. Therefore, to balance the relationship between the two points, the government must formulate effective maintenance methods for Islamic Financial Institutions (IFIs) in Malaysia.
