    Comparative Analysis of Objective Functions in Routing Protocol for Low Power and Lossy Networks

    Internet-of-Things (IoT), a new paradigm, has led to the extensive increase in communication among the tiny and embedded network devices. Majority of those devices are power, memory, and energy constrained and are made to work in lossy environments, thus forming an important part of Low Power and Lossy Networks (LLNs). Routing Protocol for Low Power and Lossy Networks (RPL) designed by Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) is proved to be an effective candidate for routing in such networks. RPL defines the Objective Functions (OFs) in which a set of routing metrics (like hop count, ETX and so on) are used either in an individual or combined manner for optimal path selection between the nodes of the network in terms of various performance factors like power consumed, Packet Delivery Ratio (PDR), reliability and so on. There are two standard Objective Functions- Objective function Zero (OF0) and Minimum Rank Hysteresis Objective Function (MRHOF). The former uses the hop count and the latter uses the Expected Transmission Count (ETX) as the default routing metrics to select the optimal paths. But both of them are single metric Objective Functions (OFs) and have to face various issues regarding the energy consumed, network lifetime and so on. So a number of RPL optimizations incorporating the different routing metrics in a combined way have been proposed to enhance the performance in all respects. This paper gives the comparative analysis of existing Objective Functions that are based on different routing metrics and concludes that the use of a combination of multiple metrics will further improve the RPL performance in future

    Document Based Clustering For Detecting Events in Microblogging Websites

    Social media has a great in?uence in our daily lives. People share their opinions, stories, news, and broadcast events using social media. This results in great amounts of information in social media. It is cumbersome to identify and organize the interesting events with this massive volumes of data, typically browsing, searching, monitoring events becomes more and more challenging. A lot of work has been done in the area of topic detection and tracking (TDT). Most of these methods are based on single-modality (e.g., text, images) information or multi-modality information. In the single-modality analysis, many existing methods adopt visual information (e.g., images and videos) or textual information (e.g., names, time references, locations, title, tags, and description) in isolation to model event data for event detection and tracking. This problem can be resolved by a novel multi-model social event tracking and an evolutionary framework not only effectively capturing the events, but also generates the summary of these events over time. We proposed a novel method works with mmETM, which can effectively model the social documents, which includes the long text along with the images. It learns the similarities between the textual and visual modalities to separate the visual and non-visual representative topics. To incorporate our method to social tracking, we adopted an incremental learning technique represented as mmETM, which gives informative textual and visual topics of event in social media with respect to the time. To validate our work, we used a sample data set and conducted various experiments on it. Both subjective and quantitative assessments show that the proposed mmETM technique performs positively against a few best state-of-the art techniques

    Electroencephalography (EEG) is a predominant tool for learning the stress behavior. This work concentrates towards stress detection by means of eye states. This work proposes a framework which would be supportive in identifying human stress level and as an outcome, distinguishes a normal or stressed person. In this work, we used decision trees, carried out the performance analysis and found that it gives good performance in recognizing the stress states. This analysis is performed with reference to eye state: whether eyes are closed indicating rest, open eyes with blinks

    Impact of Sensor Motes on Web Server of IEEE 802.15.4 for Wireless Sensor Networks

    Main aspire of this paper is to observe the outcome of diverse sensor motes namely BPART, MOTEIV, Z1 on web server of IEEE 802.15.4 in case of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). The three motes are studied by keeping all the other factors same in all the three cases. The results are compared on the basis of collision status, packets marked noise, media access delay, throughput, end to end delay. These parameters are considered at physical, MAC and application layers and results were analyzed. Overall, it is concluded that if the performance of the web server is to be enhanced then there has to be trade-off for utilization of motes in the IEEE 802.15.4 (WSNs) connected to web server

    Remotely controlled applications over a wide area have been commonly used in the industries today. In most of the industries direct temperature measurement is not possible. Most of the processes for various applications require control action by using Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) or LabVIEW. In this paper we are monitoring and controlling the process by establishing communication between PLC and LabVIEW. This can be done by Ethernet module of PLC and used for remote control of process. Nowadays PLC can not only control by its original software but also by third party software such as LabVIEW. The model developed and mentioned in this paper uses LabVIEW software which provides programming, monitoring, logging and human machine interface for the temperature control of process. It is easy to integrate different hardware simultaneously which exploits the multitasking and multiprocessing environment of LabVIEW in order to achieve the control objective

    Fuel cells are a family of technologies that generate electricity through electrochemical process rather than combustion. Fuel cells provide major environmental, energy and economic benefits that advance critical national goals. Proton Exchange Membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) is one of the promising technologies for the distributed power generation. For designing high efficiency fuel cell power systems, a suitable DC-DC converter is required. Interleaved boost converter (IBC) is a better solution for fuel cell systems, due to improved electrical performance, reduced weight and size. Due to low temperature and use of precious metal based electrodes PEMFC cell must operate on pure hydrogen. In this paper, the electrochemical modelling of a Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell (PEMFC) has been carried out. In this paper, an approach named P.I.T (Pixel Indicator Technique) is used to obtain the solutions of such challenges. In P.I.T, a pixel of covered image is divided into 3-channels named as R, G and B, wherein R component used as indicator and G and B as data channels. Images of dimension 512*512 are taken into experiment to hide data of different sizes 4KB, 8KB and 16KB. Further the results are analyzed in terms of PSNR and SSIM based parameters

    A Review on Deduplication-Cost Efficient Method to Store Data Over Cloud Using Convergent Encryption

    This paper represents that, many techniques are using for the elimination of duplicate copies of repeating data, out of those techniques, the most important data compression technique is data deduplication. Convergent technique has been used to encrypt data before outsourcing for privacy and security point of view. In the proposed system, we apply the technique of cryptographic tuning to make the encryption more secure and flexible. In previous systems, there was a limitation of convergent encryption. Data deduplication does not allow the storage of repetitive blocks. It also puts the pointer to the existing blocks so that the data owner have the freedom of selecting users, to have access to the published file. Access control is provided into the application. The integrity of data outsourced to the cloud is managed by the hash calculation of any content following the proof-of-ownership module. Proposed system calculates the hash value of the data content on both sides i.e.; destination as well as source side. Request hash for the cloud side to predict the tampering of data. The expected analysis shows the improvement in execution time and development cost
