The Quranic concept of Nafs offers a deeply insightful understanding of the human self, portraying it as the essence of individuality beyond the physical body. It represents the core of consciousness, moral judgment, and personal identity, playing a central role in the spiritual and ethical development of a person. This study explores how the Quran articulates the nature and evolution of the Nafs, highlighting its stages and function in the human struggle between base desires and higher virtues. Framed by two key research questions—how the Quran conceptualizes Nafs about moral development, and how this understanding contributes to contemporary views of self and transformation—the study aims to identify and analyze the stages of Nafs as presented in Islamic thought, and to examine its relevance to current discussions on identity and inner growth. Employing a qualitative approach based on thematic textual analysis, this study examines Quranic verses, classical tafsīr works, and contemporary interpretations to provide a comprehensive understanding of the self, encompassing both its spiritual and psychological aspects. The findings aim to provide a fresh perspective on human development with the insight o divine revelation, emphasizing the Quran’s unique contribution to understanding the journey of the self

حضرت عیسیٰ ؑ کے معجزات کے بارے میں سرسید احمد خان کے تصورات کا ناقدانہ جائزہ: A Critical Review of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan’s Ideas About the Miracles of Jesus (A.S.)

    No full text
Miracles in Islam hold a pivotal role in affirming and strengthening the prophethood of various messengers. They are regarded as divine signs and thus form an essential component of Islamic faith. This article specifically explores the most prominent miracles granted to Prophet ‘Isa (A.S.) by Almighty Allah. Among these, the Qur’an explicitly declares the miraculous birth of Prophet ‘Isa (A.S.)—born without a father—as one of the greatest signs of Allah’s power, highlighting the divine will over natural laws. In contrast, Sir Syed Ahmad Khan—a renowned 19th-century scholar, reformist, and founder of the Aligarh Movement—offers a radically different interpretation. Drawing upon certain Biblical references and historical reasoning, he suggests that a man named Yusuf (Joseph) was the biological father of Prophet ‘Isa (A.S.). This viewpoint starkly contrasts with the consensus of mainstream Islamic scholars across centuries, who have unanimously upheld the Qur’anic account of the virgin birth as a core tenet of belief. Sir Syed’s interpretations of the miracles of Prophet ‘Isa (A.S.) reflect his broader modernist approach to religion, rational inquiry, and reconciliation with Western scientific thought. In this article, his views are critically examined and contextualized within the wider Islamic scholarly tradition. Readers will find it particularly engaging and thought-provoking, as it presents a comparative perspective—juxtaposing the traditional, orthodox understanding with the reformist reinterpretations of one of the most influential Muslim intellectuals of colonial India

The contentious slogan "Mera Jism Meri Marzi" ("My Body, My Choice") from Pakistan's Aurat March is the main topic of this study, which investigates Baloch women's opinions about it. Since its inception in 2018, the Aurat March has grown into a prominent movement supporting social justice, gender equality, and women's rights. But because of its controversial chants, which   some believe go against Pakistani cultural and religious norms, it has also generated a lot of discussion. The study investigates how women from various socioeconomic levels in Balochistan perceive the march and its slogans through qualitative interviews. The results show a variety of viewpoints: Some question the march's conformity to Western ideas and possible conflict with Islamic and cultural norms, while many see it as an essential forum for bringing attention to women's issues. Particularly, the motto "Mera Jism Meri Marzi" has generated a great deal of controversy; proponents see it as a cry for bodily autonomy, while detractors contend it encourages immorality and goes against conventional wisdom. The study also emphasizes how media portrayals affect public opinion, with some media outlets focusing on issues while others show the march favorably as a progressive force. The study comes to the conclusion that although the Aurat March has helped to increase awareness and challenge patriarchal norms, the intricate interplay of cultural, religious, and societal factors affects how effective it is at promoting change. According to the study, feminist movement in Pakistan has to take a more nuanced strategy that promotes progressive change while taking local sensitivities into account
