With the continuous growth of Bangladesh's GDP, healthcare expenditure has been steadily increasing, highlighting the importance of efficient resource management in healthcare facilities. Pharmacy, being a significant contributor to overall operational costs, plays a crucial role in ensuring high-quality patient care. Proper inventory management of pharmaceutical products is essential to meet patient demands while minimizing costs. This research focuses on analyzing pharmaceutical inventory management practices at Sylhet Women's Medical College Hospital, a tertiary healthcare facility, and their impact on customer service levels. Secondary data from January 2016 to March 2018 was collected to assess the current inventory management practices. Through a comparison of actual inventory levels with ideal scenarios, a continuous review policy was implemented to optimize inventory levels. Additionally, cycle counting based on ABC classification was utilized to enhance inventory record accuracy and minimize waste. The analysis revealed that a significant portion of pharmaceutical items at the hospital were overstocked. Implementation of a continuous review process has the potential to yield substantial cost savings, estimated at BDT 2,815,482 (39% of total inventory value)

Policies to mobilize financial resources from corporates to develop the new countryside in Vietnam

    Get PDF
Over the past years in Vietnam, corporates have been identified as a key and essential source for mobilizing investments in building a New Countryside (NC). The Party and the State have implemented preferential policies regarding finance, land, taxation, and credit to encourage corporations to invest in agriculture and rural areas. The mobilization of financial resources from corporates for NC construction over the past decade has significantly contributed to infrastructure development, and rural economic growth, and assisted localities in meeting NC construction criteria. However, the financial resources mobilized by corporates for NC construction remain limited, with a low mobilization rate compared to other sources. Despite comprehensive policies to incentivize corporates to invest in agriculture and rural areas, corporates are still hesitant to do so. Barriers still exist in institutions, policies, and incentives for mobilizing resources and encouraging corporations to invest in agriculture and rural areas. Investing in agriculture and rural areas carries inherent risks due to the dependence of agricultural products on natural conditions, underdeveloped rural infrastructure, low-profit margins, and slow capital recovery. This has affected the results of mobilizing financial resources from corporates for NC construction, necessitating innovative policies aligned with practical realities to enhance investment efficiency for corporates. This article examines the issue of mobilizing financial resources from corporates for NC construction and proposes improvement solutions

    Get PDF
Pterocarpus erinaceus Poir is a woody species of the Sudano-Guinean to Sudano-Sahelian zones with very high food, medicinal and commercial potential leading to the overexploitation. This study aimed to contribute to the domestication of this species using stem segment cuttings. The sand/sawdust and black soil/sawdust substrates were inoculated with 0.10, and 20 g of mycorrhizae. The split plot with 4 repetitions was used as the experimental method and set at 10 cuttings per unit. The experience revealed that the appropriate substrate and dose of mycorrhizae for the budding of stem segment cuttings (SSC) were the sand/sawdust mixture (25.00 ± 18.34 %) and 10 g (23.75 ± 5.63 %) respectively. Satisfactory result was recorded in 10 g (4.18 ± 2.52 cm) dose of mycorrhizae for the height of the aerial axes with abundant number of leaves per aerial observed in the sand/sawdust substrate (2.36 ± 0.48). Concerning the rooting ability of the cuttings, adequate substrate for the number of newly formed roots is the sand/sawdust mixture (25.00 ± 18.34 %) while the dose of 10 g of mycorrhizae favoured the appearance of roots (23.75 ± 14.07 %). The best substrate for the length of newly formed roots is the sand/sawdust mixture (10.64 ± 7.14 cm) and 10 g of mycorrhizae improved the length (9.82 ± 6.40 cm) for Senegal rosewood. Given the above results, we can admit that the improvement of certain parameters (budding, rooting) in P. erinaceus is possible by vegetative propagation

The study was conducted to evaluate the performance of six (6) week-old heritage chicken (Black Australorp) fed with Madre de agua leaf meals of the compound diets.  A single-factor experiment was used for 75-head starter chicks with three (3) dietary treatments and five (5) replications.  The feeding trial was run for 84 days through feed mixtures containing 16.105% and 3,105; Crude Protein and ME, Kcal/kg, respectively. Trichantheragigantea leaf meal was produced through 3-day sun drying and 10 min of oven-drying until the 10-14% moisture content was achieved. The dried leaves were hammer-milled through a 2-mm sieve. The experimental feeds were subjected to laboratory analysis. The results of the study observed a marked improvement in the growth performance of the experimental birds as measured by the parameters used. Significant differences among treatment means were observed from the average gain weight, average feed consumption (3,698g – 4,538g), and final weight gain (774.82–977.39 g). The feed conversion ratio (4.65 – 4.77), and feed cost per kg of meat produced (PhP126.60 – 37.72) were not significantly affected by the experimental diets (P>0.05). The improved growth performance of the experimental chicken indicated that the madre de agualeaf meals-treated dietcan be a viable feed option for free-range chicken. It is recommended to further explore the viability of the said experimental feed mixture to other chicken breeds and poultry species using various feed formulations with madre de agua leaf meals as protein feed ingredients

This study examined the relationship between Critical Existential Thinking (CET) and School Transformational Leadership in Secondary Schools in Fako Division. A convergent mixed research design was used where both qualitative and quantitative research methods were taken into consideration and data were taken at same time, analyzed and results were compared. The population for the study consisted of 3698 teachers, 54471 students and 2510 school administrators drawn from 123 secondary schools in Fako Division. Purposive sampling technique was used in selecting the different school types as well as the class. Using the random sampling technique, a sample of 299 teachers, 75 school administrators and 30 students were drawn from 37 schools that took part in the study. The instruments used for data collection were the Spiritual Intelligence Self-Report Inventory (SISRI-24), an interview guide for students and a questionnaire for teachers which were validated by researcher’s peers and other experts. Cronbach’s Alpha Correlation Coefficient was used to determine the overall reliability analysis coefficient of the instruments and was projected to be 0.912 and 0.867 for principal’s perspective, and 0.857 for teacher’s perspective. The data collected were analyzed using frequency, proportion, multiple response analysis and binary logistic regression model to test the hypotheses at P≤ .05 level of significance. Descriptively, analysis showed that critical existential thinking (CET) significantly predicts transformational leadership (p-value =0.001< 0.05) but the relationship was low as indicated by a predictive power value of 27.0% (Cox & Snell R Square). In overall, principal’s spiritual intelligence significantly predicts transformational leadership (P=0.029; EP=40.4%). The predictive effect was significant on the overall conceptual component and sub-conceptual component (P<0.05). The effect was the highest on intellectual stimulation followed by inspirational motivation. Based on the findings, it was recommended that teachers and administrators should practice meditation which helps to train the mind, making their body calm, shifting them towards mental clarity. When one meditates, you focus better on an object/subject thereby redirecting thoughts, makes the individual spiritual powerful and strong and having greater spiritual strength will enable you to comprehend the bigger picture more precisely and consciously. the teachers and administrators should be able to know and recognize what they believe in, value and what really motivates them

Dimensions of Practical Intelligence Amongst the Bafut People, North West Region of Cameroon

    Get PDF
Most teachers concentrate only on test as a tool for assessing intelligence. This dimension is perceived as rather not holistic; thus exerting a dysfunctional consequence on the learner’s real-life output. It seems these teachers do not have an awareness of the importance of practical intelligence. Their conceptualization of childhood makes matters even worst. A more engraved problem is that they are not even aware that practical intelligence varies from one culture to another and thus this makes it difficult for teachers to implement appropriate teaching and assessment tools that enhance practical intelligence abilities in schools. Realizing this, the government designed a new curriculum for nursery and primary schools in Cameroon which took effect from September 3rd 2018. With this, there is the need for teachers to develop ways of boosting children’s abilities for survival in all environments.  If things are not handled well, what is the way forward if children’s potentials or practical intelligence abilities are not exploited? So it is my concern that such important tools should not be neglected. The takeoff point is for teachers to have knowledge on how different culturessee, engage and give meaning to the concept of practical intelligence. In such a way, a well-structured schema would obtain that gives a leeway for an evaluation and grading system for learners who otherwise display strong competencies in acquisition of knowledge for survival in life.It is against this backdrop that the author carried out a study on Bafut people’s conceptualization of practical intelligence. This research raises key questions which when put in the right perspective, will surely carve a niche for the teaching and assessment of practical intelligence abilities in the conventional education system

EXTERNALISM AS THE BASIS OF JUSTIFICATION IN AFRICAN EPISTEMOLOGY

    Get PDF
Contemporary African epistemologists share a common commitment to promotea conception of knowledge that reflects the African cultural background and collective experience. However, they differ over the basic nature of justification in African epistemology. The challenge which centres on the Internalist-Externalist debateis that of deciding whether the factors by virtue of which beliefs acquire the status of being epistemically justified in African epistemology are internal or external to the African. With no possible resolution in sight, the intense intellectual scuffles generatedby the debatetend to heighten the division between sympathizers of eachperspective among contemporary African epistemologists. In view of resolving this seeming impasse, this paper advances reasonsto enhance the appreciation of the centrality of externalismin African epistemology. It rejects internalism as incompatible with justification in African epistemology, given the context-dependent and social nature of knowledge in African epistemology, where the role of the community is central in epistemic practices. The analytic, expository and critical methods of research are adopted in the paper
