La dichotomie Orient/Occident: Entre fascination et domination
The relationship between East and West is a complex dichotomy. Often considered exotic by the West, the Orient has been shaped by centuries of history, art and cultural ideas that reinforce Western stereotypes and fantasies about this part of the world. At the same time, the West often projects its own values and standards onto the East, expressing a desire for Westernization. This desire can take many forms, from cultural appropriation to political and economic domination. This dynamic raises profound questions about power, difference and identity, highlighting issues of representation and the balance of power between the two cultures. In this context, Oriental exoticism becomes both an object of fascination and a tool of domination, reflecting the tensions and desires of the encounter between East and West.
Perception of Parents to the Vulnerability of Boarding Schools Students’ and the risk of Sending their children to School in Nigeria
The study examined perception of parents to the vulnerability of boarding schools students and the risk of sending their children to school in Nigeria. When children are sent to boarding school it can leave them traumatized and disrupt trust leading them to hide their vulnerable selves both in childhood and adulthood. Parents perceived that boarding schools can be too strict and regimented, they also feel that their children are being taken away too soon. Parents also perceived that some children may feel isolated, feeling of loss, adjustment, emotional stress, insecurity of schooling environment, attitude of teachers, managers, toxic schooling environment and fear of being bullied. The descriptive survey design was used. The study population includes 50 boarding schools in Nigeria. The sample and sampling technique used for the study a random sampling technique. A total number of 150 respondents consisting of 50 boarding school heads and 100 teachers were selected from 15 boarding schools from Delta and Edo states. Two states were randomly selected. A questionnaire self - designed and titled “Perception of Parents to the Vulnerability of Boarding Schools Students Questionnaire (PPVBSSQ)”, validated and its reliability equally determined via a pilot study using test re-test reliability technique with a coefficient index of 0.84 was used. The research questions raised were answered using simple percentage. It was therefore recommended that the schools should strive to make their boarding schools a conducive environment for the younger children in order to reduce the hostility situation. It is important that government regulates the boarding system and ensure quality control, where good food, friendly/ caring and committed teachers are found. Available resources for the children and everything deemed important to the students are provided. More so, the government should intervene in the situation of boarding schools for the young children, rather than leaving everything to the owners. The government should make policies to regulates the situations in boarding schools for the purpose of improvement rather than leaving everything to the school owners.

PERCEIVED ORGANIZATIONAL SUPPORT AND ORGANIZATIONAL CITIZENSHIP BEHAVIOUR IN SELECTED NIGERIAN UNIVERSITIES
This study investigates the relationships between employee benefits, fairness, supportive human resource practices, and organizational citizenship behaviours (OCBs) within organizational contexts. The objectives were to assess the impact of employee benefits, fairness and supportive HR practices on OCBs such as civic virtue and sportsmanship. The study employs a quasi-experimental survey design to investigate the relationships between perceived organizational support (POS) dimensions (employee benefits, fairness, and supportive HR practices) and organizational citizenship behaviours (OCBs) (civic virtue and sportsmanship) among academic and non-academic staff members of Rivers State University of Science and Technology (RSUST) and the University of Port Harcourt (Uniport) in Rivers State, Nigeria. The population of interest comprises 1,870 employees from RSUST and 3,800 employees from Uniport, totalling 5,670 individuals. Convenient sampling was utilized to select 375 university staff members based on availability and willingness to participate. Data were collected through structured questionnaires using a five-point Likert scale and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics, including linear regression analysis in IBM SPSS version 25.0, with a significance level set at 0.05. The study found significant positive relationships between employee benefits, fairness, and supportive HR practices with both civic virtue and sportsmanship. The Cronbach's Alpha values exceeded .70 for all variables, indicating high internal consistency. Based on these findings, the study concludes that fostering perceived organizational support through employee benefits, fairness, and supportive HR practices is essential for promoting organizational citizenship behaviours among university staff members. It recommends that HR practitioners and organizational leaders prioritize initiatives aimed at enhancing employee well-being, equity, and organizational support to foster a positive work environment conducive to OCBs, thereby contributing to organizational effectiveness and success

Financial analysis inspired by the 5P approach of Sustainable Development applied to the Dow Jones index
In this document, the research problem of proposing a methodology to apply financial analysis under the 5P approach of Sustainable Development: People, Prosperity, Peace, Planet, and Partnerships was addressed. To do this, the financial information of companies that make up the Dow Jones Index was used to design indicators that plausibly refer to sustainable development. The methodology used in this research was quantitative, documentary, and descriptive. Financial indicators that are relevant to the sustainable development of entities were strategically selected and their results were quantitatively analyzed, normalized in order to propose a methodology to identify, through financial ratios, the degree of sustainable development in important companies of the Dow Jones Index. This document aims to motivate the replication of this type of financial analysis to deepen the financial analysis inspired by the sustainable development approach, as part of the fundamental analysis applied to companies listed on stock exchanges
ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE AND ADAPTABILITY OF MANUFACTURING FIRMS IN RIVERS STATE, NIGERIA
The survey study investigated the relationship between organizational structure and adaptability of manufacturing firms in Rivers State, Nigeria. The environment of business is not an independent entity, but composed of complex combination of factors such as government regulations, product and labour conditions, industry customs and practices which have greater influence on how job task are divided, grouped and coordinated in the manufacturing sector. It is based on this problem that this research was set out to explore the compatibility of organisational structure and adaptability to avert negative influence on manufacturing firms in a dynamic environment. As a consequence, this research involved 4 objectives, 4 research questions and 4 research hypotheses. A population of 362 managers and supervisors of 15 manufacturing firms was covered. A sample size of 186 managers and supervisors were drawn using Krejcie and Morgan (1970) Table. The simple random sampling technique was employed and copies of questionnaire were utilized in gathering data for the study. The response to the questionnaire was measured on a 4-point Likert scale, and the data were analysed using Spearman Rank Order Correlation Coefficient. Based on the findings, the study concludes that there is a significant and positive relationship between the dimensions of organisational structure and adaptability, meaning a correlation exists between organizational structure and adaptability of manufacturing firms in Rivers State. The study recommends that manufacturing firms in Rivers State should enhance mechanistic structures for better process, clarity and risk management, while incorporating organic elements to boost flexibility, innovation, and quick decision-making for improved adaptability and resilience
Macroeconomic determinants of Nigeria’s domestic debt
Motivated by the rising debt profile of Nigeria and the reported economic quagmire the nation is facing, this study empirically investigates the macroeconomic determinant of Nigeria’s domestic debt between 1985 to 2021.Population, inflation, government expenditure and gross domestic product constitutes the independent variables, whereas aggregate domestic debt formed the dependent variable. However, these were proxied with their growth rates. It utilized logged variant of secondary data obtained from Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Statistical Bulletin and Nigeria Bureau of Statistics (NBS). The studyis based on Keynes general theory and Malthus population theory. E-views 12 was employed for data analysis. Initially, graphical trend of data was used to analyze the data. At first stationarity test was done and the data were stationary at order 1 (first difference) thereby necessitating the Johansen cointegration test from which a long-term relationship was obtained. However, full rank was observed which gave rise to the conversion of the study data to its natural logged form and the beginning of the process all over.In furtherance, stationarity test was engaged in at order zero (levels) and the data were stationary. Hence, ordinary least squares (OLS) test was employed as a tool for analytical purpose. Our OLS test revealed the following: (i) positive and significant relationship between population growth rate (PGR) and aggregate domestic debt growth rate (ADDGR), (ii) negative and significant relationship between inflation rate and aggregate domestic debt growth rate (ADDGR) in Nigeria, (iii) positive and insignificant relationship for both government expenditure growth rate (GEGR), gross domestic product growth rate (GDPGR) and Nigeria’s aggregate domestic debt growth rate (ADDGR). The OLS test further showed that 68.72% variation in the study’s dependent variable (aggregate domestic debt) was determined by the choice macroeconomic determinants of the study (i.e. population, inflation, government expenditure and gross domestic product).Causality test was conducted and the result obtained tells that non among the choice determinants promoted Nigeria’s aggregate domestic debt, instead aggregate domestic debt promoted inflation. Based on our findings we recommended the following; (i) Nigeria’s government should encourage population control, (ii) inflation should be targeted the government’s monetary policy,(iii) government should reduce its expenditure by ensuring that prudence is exercised in its spending pattern so as to reduce its domestic debt, (iv) further related research should be engaged in while incorporating those macroeconomic variables that were not captured on this study
