The study results were as follows; parents socio-economic status, has a positive and significant influence on students’ academic performance of β= 0.131, p < 0.05. The study concluded that parents’ socio-economic status has a positive and significant influence on students’ academic performance in public day secondary schools. The study recommended that the management of public schools should encourage parents to be involved in their children's education irrespective of their socio-economic status

SYSTEMATIC DEVELOPMENTAL FEATURES IN THE ACQUISITION OF THE ENGLISH ARTICLE SYSTEM BY LUHYA L1 LEARNERS

This paper is set out to examine the systematic developmental features in the acquisition of the English article system by Luhya L1 learners in secondary schools, conducted in Vihiga County, Kenya. Even though English plays a central role in Kenya’s education system, there is still a dearth of research on how Luhya speaking learners really learn how to use the English system in secondary schools in Vihiga County, Kenya. There isn’t a clear picture on the stages these learners go through or the various errors that stick around for a long time. This kind of insight will enable teachers and curriculum developers to provide interventions which meet the needs of these learners. The objective of the study was to examine the systematic developmental features in the acquisition of the English article system by Luhya L1 Learners. The study was guided by Fluctuation Hypothesis which was used to predict and explain the systematic errors of L2 learners and Full transfer /Full access hypothesis according to which in the learning process the L2 learner transfers the entire L1 grammar on to L2. The study adopted a pragmatic paradigm and a case study design to explain how learners construct their knowledge of L2 English article system in the context of L1 Luhya that is linguistically different from English. A mixed method approach was employed to allow for the use of both quantitative and qualitative methodologies leading to a better understanding of the article use phenomenon. The study sample included 6 schools purposively selected from three sub-counties and 24 students of English from these schools. The data collection instrument was a multiple-choice task. The data was analysed using descriptive statistics and content and thematic analysis procedures. The study revealed various developmental features which included: overuse, fluctuation, and omission errors. In the light of the study findings, it was concluded that the pedagogy utilized in the instruction of the English article is flawed, there is minimum content coverage for the English article and that both learners’ L1 and L2 negatively influence the acquisition and learning of English article. Thus, it is recommended that teachers adopt an eclectic approach in teaching the English article system and that the curriculum developers review the English language syllabus with regard to the article system and accord it the prominence it deserves. Theoretically, the study contributes to the advancement of knowledge about the teaching of the English article system. Practically, curriculum developers should find the study useful and reconsider revising the English language curriculum reconsidering content overage at the various levels of learning, factoring in elements that would facilitate SLA and SL learning

STRATEGIC LEADERSHIP TO STRENGTHEN AIRPOWER STRATEGY TO SUPPORT NATIONAL DEFENSE SYSTEM

This study investigates how strategic leadership can strengthen airpower strategy to support Indonesia’s national defense system. Indonesia’s geostrategic position in the Indo-Pacific exposes it to airspace incursions, cyberattacks on radar and communications, and the employment of drones for espionage and sabotage, underscoring the need for an adaptive and integrated airpower posture. Using a qualitative phenomenological design, data were gathered through interviews with Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) leaders, operational observations, and analysis of defense documents. Data were analyzed with Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña’s interactive model, and credibility was reinforced through source- and method-triangulation. Findings indicate that visionary leadership acts as a catalyst for defense modernization, organizational reform, and professionalization of personnel. Cross-agency collaboration with the Ministry of Defense, BRIN, and the national defense industry (DEFEND ID) accelerates mastery of UAVs, passive radar, and C4ISR systems. AI- and big-data–enabled innovations enhance detection speed and response effectiveness against multidomain contingencies, while a whole-of-government approach strengthens societal legitimacy and support for airpower. Comparative lesson-drawing suggests Indonesia can adapt the U.S. acceleration doctrine, South Korea’s research–industry synergy, Turkey’s pursuit of defense industrial autonomy, and Singapore’s Total Defense framework. The study concludes that integrating strategic leadership with a modernized airpower strategy is foundational to an adaptive, responsive, and highly deterrent Indonesian air defense system

This study explores the tension between the resilience of traditional systems and the transformation of collective consciousness surrounding the traditional PORO system in Korhogo. From a sociological perspective, it examines the PORO as a traditional institution that mobilizes collective representations, ritual knowledge, and legitimization mechanisms to act as a guardian of sacred heritage. Through the lens of Senufo society in Korhogo, the study analyzes traditional education related to the PORO based on semi-structured interviews with key actors in this tradition village and land chiefs, custodians of sacred forests, and initiates of the sacred woods. The findings indicate that the PORO tradition serves as an identity marker within Korhogo’s urbanization process, through the spatial organization of sacred forests used for transmitting traditional values that are socially recognized and reinforced in the local collective consciousness. This identity marker integrates with and adapts to the dynamics of the urban environment through innovations in PORO practices, fostering collaboration and integration in a multicultural urban setting

Zimbabwe's bold commitment to digital evolution in public administration marks a game-changing moment for e-governance, despite operating in a resource-poor context. This is a mixed methods study of the opportunities, challenges and ethical implications of Zimbabwe's initiatives (e.g. ZimConnect) combining quantitative data about governance and access to digital technologies with qualitative, interviews and document analysis of both government reports and media. The findings highlight demonstrable improvements in service delivery in public administration, but these are restrained by long-standing urban-rural digital divides and infrastructure issues. The ethical ramifications of data use and potential misuse, especially in a politically sensitive context, raise questions about protocols and frameworks. The innovative recommendations (e.g. solar-powered digital hubs, oversight through blockchain and a lab for digital model that is culturally reflexive) suggest a viable and equitable way of delivering governance. Will Zimbabwe be able to mobilize the initiative to leverage its mobile-led characteristics to rethink the public administration? This study calls for scholars and practitioners to think critically and creatively about possible avenues in building a new kind of ethical e-governance to support public administration, establishing Zimbabwe as a lighthouse for future transformed digital development in the Global South

Sowing Seeds of Agreement: A Negotiation Case in the Brazilian Citrus Industry

This case study looks at a difficult bargain between a citrus seedling provider (seller) and a rural producer (buyer) in Brazil. The parties signed a contract for the purchase and sale of 112,000 citrus seedlings worth 344,000(R344,000 (R 1,750,000.00, approximately), with payment in 14 monthly installments. However, the buyer defaulted on payments, leading to a critical juncture in the contractual relationship. As the parties sit down to renegotiate, their interests diverge: the seller seeks to deliver all seedlings and receive payment, preferably in cash or reduced installments, while the buyer aims to pay the debt in installments and resume the supply of seedlings. The outcome of this negotiation remains uncertain, raising questions about the parties' ability to find a mutually beneficial agreement. What strategies will they employ to resolve this? This case highlights the importance of flexibility, collaboration, and understanding the interests of both parties in achieving a successful negotiation

Fostering Leadership Competency for High School Students through STEM Project-Based Learning: A Survey Study

This study aims to investigate teachers' perceptions of the potential of STEM project-based learning (PBL) to foster leadership competency in high school students in Vietnam. The current educational reform context requires equipping students with 21st-century skills, in which leadership is a core competency that is often not systematically nurtured within the formal curriculum. The main research method was a questionnaire survey administered to 50 high school teachers with diverse experience. The questionnaire was designed to assess four aspects: (1) perceptions of STEM education, (2) the current status of STEM project implementation, (3) the necessity of fostering leadership competency, and (4) the potential of a specific STEM project ("Smart Greenhouse") to develop leadership competency. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, and the scale's reliability was confirmed with a Cronbach's Alpha coefficient of 0.728. The results show that teachers have a very positive perception of the role of STEM education (M = 4.32 for understanding its importance) and clearly recognize the need for leadership development among students (M = 4.44). However, leadership development programs at the school level are limited (M = 3.66). Notably, teachers highly rated the "Smart Greenhouse" project's ability to develop foundational skills such as project management (M = 4.26) and teamwork (M = 4.24), and believe the project can foster overall leadership competency in students (M = 4.10). It is concluded that STEM PBL is a feasible and teacher-supported method for integrating leadership development into teaching activities, thereby addressing a significant gap in current secondary education
