Sweet corn (Z. mays saccharata) is widely cultivated around Denpasar City, Bali as a food and vegetable, but the main obstacle to sweet corn cultivation is the attack of stem borers (O. furnacalis). The results of the study showed that the percentage of corn stem borer attacks ranged from 5% to 28%. The number of natural enemies showed 4.13 to 6.26 individuals. The dynamics of the corn stem borer pest population showed a range from 0.09 to 0.23. The relationship between temperature and the population of corn stem borer pests is significantly positive with a correlation coefficient of r = 0.87 (R2 = 0.73), with the regression equation Y1 = 24.097 + 0.190X1 (Y1 = population of stem borers and X1 = temperature). The relationship between stem borers and humidity has a very significant effect with a coefficient (r) = 0.94 (R2 = 0.89), with the regression equation Y1 = -182.815 + 2.729 X2 (X2 = humidity). The relationship between temperature and the population of natural enemies has a significant positive effect with a coefficient of r = 0.853 (R2 = 0.73) with the regression equation Y2 = 21.37 + 0.9367X1 (Y2 = population of natural enemies)

Hand Function Unlocked: A Public Health Review of Kinesio Taping and Mirror Therapy in Children with Hemiplegic Spastic Cerebral Palsy

Background: Hemiplegic spastic cerebral palsy (CP) significantly impairs hand function in affected children, leading to reduced independence and increased caregiver burden. Kinesio taping and mirror therapy have emerged as promising rehabilitation interventions to improve motor function. However, their comparative effectiveness and integration into public health strategies remain underexplored. Objective: This review critically examines the existing literature on the effects of Kinesio taping and mirror therapy on hand function in children with hemiplegic spastic CP, emphasizing implications for community-based rehabilitation and public health integration. Methods: A comprehensive literature search was conducted across major databases focusing on randomized controlled trials, systematic reviews, and clinical studies evaluating Kinesio taping and mirror therapy outcomes in paediatric hemiplegic spastic CP. Public health frameworks, accessibility, cost-effectiveness, and caregiver involvement were considered. Results: Both Kinesio taping and mirror therapy demonstrated significant improvements in hand function, spasticity reduction, and functional independence. Kinesio taping offers proprioceptive support and ease of use, suitable for community health workers, while mirror therapy promotes neuroplasticity and active patient engagement with minimal resources. Integration of these low-cost interventions into community-based rehabilitation programs can expand access, especially in resource-limited settings. Conclusion: Kinesio taping and mirror therapy are effective, scalable rehabilitation approaches with substantial potential for public health integration. Implementing these therapies through community health frameworks can reduce disability, enhance quality of life, and alleviate caregiver burden in children with hemiplegic spastic CP. Further large-scale studies are warranted to optimize protocols and assess long-term public health outcomes

VISION FOR 2030: ADVANCING GLOBAL EYE HEALTH THROUGH WHO’S PEOPLE-CENTERED TARGETS

Eye health is an essential aspect of global public health, closely linked to individual well-being, productivity, and social inclusion. Cataract and uncorrected refractive errors remain the leading causes of vision impairment worldwide, contributing considerably to avoidable blindness and disability. Effective cataract surgical coverage (eCSC) and effective refractive error coverage (eREC) are emerging as critical indicators for assessing the quality and accessibility of eye care services. These indicators not only measure service delivery but also emphasize the importance of achieving good visual outcomes, reflecting both coverage and quality of care. This review synthesizes current evidence on the global burden of cataract and refractive errors, highlighting the significant variations in eCSC and eREC across countries and demographic groups. Data reveal persistent inequities, with rural populations, women, indigenous peoples, and ethnic minorities often experiencing lower coverage and poorer outcomes. Furthermore, projections suggest that the rising aging population will increase the absolute number of individuals requiring cataract surgery and refractive error correction, intensifying the need for scaled-up interventions. Cost-effectiveness analyses confirm that cataract surgery and refractive error correction are among the most feasible and economical health interventions, capable of reducing disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) and minimizing global productivity losses. Integrating eye care into Universal Health Coverage (UHC) frameworks and aligning efforts with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are essential to ensuring equitable access and sustainable financing for eye health services. The Secretariat’s forthcoming steps include finalizing baseline estimates for eCSC and eREC, developing practical monitoring frameworks, fostering funding dialogues, and supporting countries in implementation planning. These initiatives aim to enhance global eye care quality, coverage, and equity, ultimately reducing avoidable vision impairment and improving quality of life worldwide

DESIGNING A TEACHING PROCESS AND AN ASSESSMENT TOOLKIT FOR FOSTERING LEADERSHIP CAPACITY THROUGH THE "SMART GREENHOUSE" STEM PROJECT IN PHYSICS 11 EDUCATION

The growing demand for 21st-century skills has highlighted the need to foster leadership capacity in high school students, with STEM project-based learning offering a promising environment for this development. However, a significant gap exists between this educational goal and the practical availability of systematically designed teaching processes and specialized tools for intentionally cultivating and assessing leadership in the classroom. This paper addresses this gap by presenting the outputs of a design-based research study: a complete pedagogical model for fostering leadership through a specific STEM project. The model's teaching process for the "Smart Greenhouse" project is structured around the five stages of the Engineering Design Process (EDP), while the corresponding assessment toolkit is grounded in a validated six-component leadership framework (Nguyen Quang Linh & Cao Tien Khoa, 2024). The primary outputs presented are: (1) a detailed, five-stage teaching plan that integrates Physics 11 content with leadership development opportunities , and (2) a multifaceted assessment toolkit comprising a teacher observation rubric, a peer assessment form, and a deep interview protocol, all tailored to the project's activities. This integrated system provides educators with a scientifically-grounded, practical, and replicable model to move beyond aspiration and intentionally foster and evaluate leadership capacity within a high school STEM setting. The alignment between the learning activities and the assessment tools ensures an authentic and effective approach to competency development

Reforming the Treatment of Drug Users through the Integration of Rehabilitation and Restorative Justice

The repressive approach toward drug users in Indonesia continues to dominate law enforcement practices, often resulting in incarceration rather than rehabilitation. This punitive orientation disregards the fact that many drug users are victims of addiction who require medical and psychological recovery rather than imprisonment. The gap between the predominantly punitive legal framework and the rehabilitative needs of users contributes to prison overcrowding and the low success rate of social reintegration. This study aims to analyze the potential integration of restorative justice and rehabilitation as a reformative strategy in addressing drug related offenses. Restorative justice emphasizes the restoration of harm and social reintegration, aligning closely with the the rapeutic objectives of rehabilitation programs. Employing a normative juridical method, this research examines national legislation and policy instruments to assess the legal feasibility of such integration. The findings reveal that while both restorative justice and rehabilitation are formally recognized within Indonesia’s legal system, their implementation remains fragmented due to regulatory inconsistencies, weak institutional coordination, and pervasive stigma against drug users. The study concludes that integrating these two approaches presents a more humane and effective alternative to punitive sanctions. Comprehensive policy reform and institutional capacity building are urgently needed to support this paradigm shift

Sexual Dysfunction and Drug Abuse among Nigerian Youth as the Male Gender battles Self-Esteem with Machines

Introduction: The study focuses on sexual dysfunction and drug abuse among Nigerian youth as the male gender battles self-esteem with machines. Sexual dysfunction and drug abuse are growing concerns among Nigerian youth, particularly males who often struggle with self-esteem issues. This is a result of substance abuse such as cannabis, tramadol, smilnol, cocaine and other illicit drugs which could lead to erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation, low libido and low self-esteem. Three research questions were raised in the study. Methodology: A mixed-methods design was adopted in the study. It combines qualitative and quantitative research approaches to achieve a more comprehensive understanding of a research problem. The sample used for this study is 500 youth in the study area. A purposive sampling technique was used in the study. Participants are selected based on specific criteria. A self-developed instrument titled “Sexual Dysfunction and Drug Abuse among Youth Questionnaire - SDDAYQ” and interviews were used as the instrument to collect data from participants. The researcher administered a total of 500 questionnaire to randomly selected participants and 20 participants were interviewed in the study area. Mean scores and standard deviation provided answers to the research questions. Pearson Product Moment Statistics was used to analyse the data at 0.05 level of significance while Thematic analysis was adopted for the interpretation of responses. Findings: The study revealed the causes of sexual dysfunction and drug abuse such as physiological, psychological, and social factors. The study also showed the effects of drug abuse among Nigerian youth as the male gender battles self-esteem with machines such as insanity among youth, school drop-out, brain damage and death. The study also revealed strategies to curb sexual dysfunction and drug abuse among male Nigerian youth and to promote self-esteem such as school- and community-based programs, curricula, counselling and therapy, law enforcement, monitoring and rehabilitation. Conclusion:The study concluded that sexual dysfunction and substance abuse among Nigerian youth, especially males, are multifaceted issues influenced by various psychosocial and environmental factors. The increasing adoption of sexual devices, such as vibrators, by women contributes to an escalating pressure on males, who may struggle to meet these enhanced expectations. This inadequacy often leads to the use of illicit substances as a means to augment sexual performance. To effectively address the intertwined challenges of sexual dysfunction, substance abuse, and low self-esteem in this demographic, it is crucial to implement integrated, evidence-based interventions that focus on the underlying causes and foster a comprehensive approach to well-being

Enhancing Farmer Engagement in Cooperatives: Implications of Awareness and Interest

This study aimed to identify the motivations of farmers in Camarines Sur, Philippines to join cooperatives. By examining their awareness and interest levels, the researchers used a descriptive-correlational research design and gathered data from 308 farmers through surveys and interviews. The findings showed that most farmers were married, male, had completed high school, owned small landholdings, and had limited income. Many farmers lacked awareness about the benefits of joining cooperatives, especially the personal benefits, which impacted their interest in joining. The study found that economic factors like access to financial aid for seeds, fertilizers, and equipment were the biggest reasons farmers showed interest in cooperatives. Personal motivations, such as individual growth opportunities, were less influential due to low outreach. There was also a strong connection between farmers' awareness of financial benefits and their willingness to join cooperatives. Barriers to joining cooperatives included lack of information, distrust, and the lack of cooperatives near the farmers. The study crafted Project Enganyo, a strategy for continuous improvement within cooperatives to address these challenges and enhance farmer involvement. Strategies such as highlighting financial benefits, offering clear communication, and supporting market access could encourage more farmers to join cooperatives. Addressing these issues can improve farmer engagement and support sustainable agricultural development in Camarines Sur
