The text is in dark blue against a white background with General Constand Viljoen's name in orange. The party logo appears in the bottom left-hand corner. The letters "NP" have been written on the poster in place of the ANC with a blue marker. The poster is compiled and issued by Dr. Pieter Mulder

No full textBellville, Dutch Reformed Church, Vrijzee. The foundation stone of the Dutch Reformed Church in Vrijzee was laid on 29 March 1947. In the top of the elegant tower is an open gallery in which a bell is hanging. However, underneath the bell sits an iron frame that makes it almost impossible to reach the bell. We were fortunate that we could make the necessary physical and acoustical measurements but it was totally impossible to get an idea of eventual texts or decorations on the sides of the bell. What could be seen was a very broad freeze below the shoulder that is filled with decorative geometrical figures. Underneath this nice band are a large number of spots that look like oil spills. On one of the sides of the bell one could see the last digit 8 of what is probably a founding year, perhaps 1948. Unfortunately, this is only the first time that we find this kind of decorations on a bell in the Western Cape. Henceforth, we cannot even make a guess of a potential founder or founding year. With the help of more elaborate photographic equipment, it should be possible to get a better view of the bell, that definitely deserves closer inspection

No full textPrince Alfred Hamlet, Dutch Reformed Church. The founding stone of the Dutch Reformed Church in Prince Alfred Hamlet has been laid on 25 April 1964. In the thin and elegant tower hangs a large but totally undecorated bell. The only inscription on the bell is the number 12647, next to the crown and top of the bell. The bell hangs on a yoke that carries the inscription HOESCH. 140 that probably refers to a local manufacturer. The bell is used by a clock that has been delivered by Will. W. Keay from Cape Town

No full textHermanus, Catholic Church. On the outskirts of Hermanus lie a number of churches, one of them the Catholic Church of The Lady of Light. In the garden in front of the church stands a horseshoe type construction in which hangs a fairly good sized bell. It carries no decorations. In the choir of the church hangs a charming cupper bell in an extensively decorated hanger. Below the shoulder one reads, Qui Me Tangit, Vocem Meam Audit, meaning, that whoever touches the bell, will hear its sound

The advertisement addresses concerns over voting rights being given to criminals convicted of serious offences. The DP suggests that this was made possible because of the inefficiency of the NP in running the prisons. The advertisement is also used to accuse the NP of secret deals between themselves and the African National Congress (ANC). A large image of notorious Cape Town serial murderer known as the "Station Strangler" fills the left-hand side of the advertisement. Issued by James Selfe
Lutheran Church, Buisplaas, Mossel Bay (Eden District)
No full textHerbertsdale, Buisplaas. The Lutheran Church in Buisplaas used to be at an outstation from Mossel Bay of the Berliner Missionsgesellschaft and this at least up to 1926. The bell is mounted on a solid stone construction. The bell itself is however rather disappointing. The maker's name does not appear on the bell, as is usually done with bronze bells. The only reference to a founder is visible in the middle of the yoke from which the bell is hung. There appears the number 12. However, we have found a number of similar bells, all made by the G.S. Bell Co Hillsboro, O. The company to which this refers is situated in Hillsboro, Ohio, U.S.A. The bells from this company are made of steel and are subject to rust. Also their sound is poor
