    Effects of Ismat Chaghtai on Fareha Arshad's Fiction

    Ismat Chaghtai has a prominent status in Urdu fiction literature. He has presented a true picture of the events and tragedies that happen day and night in the society. Every writer has his own style which is adopted by later writers. Ismat Chaghtai is also counted among the writers whose style was followed. Fareha Arshad is a fiction writer in Urdu literature who adopted the style of Ismat's fiction. Fareha has written on women who are rendered helpless by poverty, sexual violence after seduction, and the state of the dancer. Fareha also gave place to such stories in her legends which are clearly visible in the society.     National Defense in the Light of Literature

    Defense of a country is always considered a national duty for all citizens because a country with strong defense guarantees a safe and secure nation. After the establishment of Pakistan, it was targeted by the enemy on various occasions, but Pakistan Army defeated the enemy every time by defending the country strongly. While the army showed the essence of its bravery, the authors, poets and writers also participated in these wars and wrote songs, poems and literature for the country. By means of writing these pieces of literature, the defense of the country was also made successful through strengthening patriotism and love for the homeland.     A Comparative Study of the Translations of Shelley’s Renowned Poem “Ode to the West Wind”

    “Ode to the West Wind” is written by the famous romantic poet Percy Bysshe Shelley. The ode was first published in 1820. The ode  represents the grandeur of a specific West Wind. Power, human limitations, and the natural world are the major themes of this ode. Shelley admires the power and majesty of the West Wind. He wishes the human being to realize the significance of nature by describing the power and function of the wind. The wind is guardian, destructor, wild, a musician, and a source of change. The poet requests the West Wind to make him as gigantic as itself so that he can spread his innovative ideas across the world. He also requests the wind to transfigure him into a musical instrument so that he can play the melody of his thoughts to make the world aware of his existence. The wind brings winter which symbolizes death but it brings hope of the spring also. Shelley’s association with the wind and his deep observation regarding its functions expressed in the ode make it worthy to be distinguished among other poems of the same context. The ode can appeal to the insight of a literary mind. It is worthy enough to be translated in another language, so is translated in the Urdu language by Ahmed Aqeel Ruby, Qudrat Ullah Sh,ahab, and Ameer Chand Bahar.     Symbolism is a technique for writers to express their motives. Whenever freedom of speech is restricted, writers use symbolism as tool. Symbols are basically related with the community where they have developed. Ali Muhammad ٖFarshi is well known poet of Urdu poem. In his poems, he uses a system of new symbolic words. He tries to present the inner self problems of an individual through the symbols. Every individual on this earth irrespective to religion and region, have some common problems like identification, hunger and death. The article discusses the systems of new symbols in Ali Muhammad Farshi’s poems. Its discuses that what type of symbols he uses and up to how much extent he delivers them to his reader.     Saheefa” is renowned research journal of Pakistan. Scholars need to     consult its contents for the seek of knowledge, literary taste and to flourish their researches, common readers can get a pleasant food of knowledge as well. Since 1956, the year of its beginning, “Saheefa” got and has been maintaining a graceful status of a research among Urdu literary journals. Majlis Traqi e Adab published a special issue of “Saheefa” on the works and services of Molana Altaf Hussain Haali. In this special issue, a number of articles are included regarding great works and services of Maulana Altaf Hussain Haali for Urdu Literature and Muslims of Subcontinent. All writers of the articles threw light on different aspects through various angles on life and works of Maulana Altaf Hussain Haali. The writer of this article highlighted the key features of mentioned articles in detail.     Epistolary prose is the cultural capital of a nation in which all the elements of a civilization are preserved. In the more or less 250 years of history of Urdu Epistolary prose, Urdu Letters has gone through many levels of styles, themes and linguistics. Up to the time of Sir Syed, Urdu prose had freed itself from styles like abstract techniques, Persian style and colorful writing. Sir Syed's epistolary prose also a fine example of his contemporary style, not only can the popular style of Urdu prose of this period be evaluated from them, but their letters are the most authentic sources for the interpretation and dissemination of Sir Syed's political, religious, social and academic ideas.     The Educational and Literary Concepts of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan

    Sir Syed Ahmed khan has given valuable services regarding politics, education and religion. It is the distinct thing that on all three levels, they have also had to face a strong opponent. It is not easy to defy tradition and welcome the modern after the movement of Syed Ahmed Barelvi, he realized that the lost prestige was possible only through practical politics, educational reforms and religious ijtihad. So he has performed the duty of guidance of Muslims at the same time on all three levels. In this regard, the publication of the magazine rebellion, the establishment of the scientific society and the issuance of civilization are important. Later on, the foundation of Aligarh University was laid, which collectively helped to promote scientific thinking. The current era requires that the movement of knowledge and literature should be brought to light so that sectarianism, linguistic prejudice and religious hatred can come out. This article examines the current situation in the context of Sir Syed's scholarly and literary views. At the same time, such measures have been proposed, which can help to promote knowledge and literature compatible with modern requirements. In this regard, Sir Syed can be declared the greatest benefactor of the 21th century. In the light of his views, the educational and literary requirements of the 21st century can be met
