    Dictionaries and encyclopedias of various languages help to understand the meanings of letter. Although there are different types of letters but the important one is that in which the emotions and feelings of letter writers are being transmitted. When distance occurs amid the conversation, the letter writing came into existence. It is the human psyche that when he goes away from his dear ones, he expresses his emotions through letters. He often forgets that it may go to other hands. In the letters, beside the heart feelings, current affairs are also discussed. Letters also become the source of emotions, ideology and thoughts of a letter writer

    Aal e Ahmad Saroor is a renowned Iqbal scholar. His book Irfan e Iqbal is a collection of twelve important essays on Iqbalyaat. He often focuses Iqbal's terminology, use of allusions, philosophy of elevation and down fall and his approach on current affairs as his subject of discussion.  He not only raises variety of questions related to Iqbal but also provides answers to them. He lays emphasis on Iqbal's universal vision, his stress on human dignity, self realization, self recognition and self expression. He tries to highlight Iqbal's features with great subtlety. He presents an objective, balanced and justified picture of Iqbal's poetry.

    Allah Almighty is the only One and the only Sovereign and the only Creator and the Owner as per Islamic point of view. He has sent one twenty four hundred thousand messengers with certain miracles and books for human guidance. The last book, Holy Qur'an, was revealed upon Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W). The Holy Qur'an adopts easy mode of address to make humanity understand its message. It narrates anecdotes of past nations for guidance purposes. These very anecdotes are termed as Talmehaat. They are found in the Qur'an in good number. Urdu poets freely employ these Talmehaat in their verse. The article is a study of poetic usage of the Qur'anic Talmehaat.

    Dr.Jamil Jalbi is a well known historiographer critic, linguist, translator and editor. He has written history of Urdu literature in four volumes. These volumes have got immense praise from literary critics. Jamil Jalbi has compiled very first musnavi of Urdu (kadam rao padam rao). His translations of western poets and literary critics were warmly welcomed in literary circles of Urdu. He has also worked for Urdu language and compiled dictionaries as well. Jamil Jalbi has established himself as a great critic. His critical views have an impact on Urdu literature. His critical approach has made his work of history more reliable and interesting. This article is an effort to analyze his critical thought and style.

    Shanul Haq Haqqee was a genius having multi-dimensional vision and knowledge. He was a great linguist, lexicographer, researcher, scholar, critic, translator, biographer, fiction writer, an acknowledged poet, a story writer for children, humorist, copywriter and a publicist. He exhibited his creativity by writing in various forms of Urdu literature. His writings in respect of credibility and correctness of language attained a high standard. He showed special interest in lexicography, which bore witness of his command on the language. He was inclined to literary journalism since his childhood and remained serving literary journalism in various capacities. This article sheds light on this particular aspect of his literary personality.

    Rejecting classicism completely and attainting distinctiveness is not possible because classicism is directly related to tradition and tradition is a cultural heritage. Zaidi is one of those 20th century poets who have manifested hues of individuality while still remaining intact with the roots. He started his poetry in the era when free verse and blank verse were in their developing phase. In his poetic collections, he experimented with form. He manifested his expectise by employing more than one type of meters in many poems. Sometimes he took a full meter (Saalam Bahrein) and varied the units in different lines of that poem. Thus, reading such poems gives us an idea about the poet's diverse temperament. This diversity did not let him give much time to the application of full meters. By variation of units in the accepted meters he could write verses effortlessly

    This paper explores narratological techniques of counter-colonial ideas in the travel narrative of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, namely Safarnama e Musafirana e London (1869). It employs the strategies of contextualist-rhetorical narratology. This exploration contextualises Sir Syed's travel narrative with his contested ideologies of conservative and progressive Muslim thought that has so characterised conflicted image for a century and a half. Sir Syed's desire to support modernisation of Muslim attitudes, and countering the pressures of the readers of his travelogue, to the extent of alienating his readers, are also discussed as narratological evidence of his narrative honesty.Textual evidence Safarnama e Musafirana e London is thus shown to prove that Sir Syed intended his travelogue to be acounter-colonial document.

    Dictionaries like grammar and compositional books are helpful to learn and comprehend a language especially the foriegn ones. The Persian language remained the literary as well as official language of the Indo-Pak Subcontinent in the past many centuries. The indigenous took special interest in learning Pesian and excelling in it. There appeared a good number of dictionaries of Persian in the Subcontinent. Madar al Afazil is one of them which was written in the reign of the Mughal emporer Akbar by a profound scholar of Persian and Arabic.This dictionary is an important lexicographal document. Former Principal of Oriental College Dr Muhamad Baqir edited its manuscript and published it in four volums from Punjab University, Lahore. The article is an introductory study of the said dictionary.
