    Bedil Delhavi was a Sufi saint and a remarkable poet of the Indian Subcontinent. He was the foremost representative of the later phase of the Indian style, Sabk-e-Hindi of Persian poetry and the most difficult and challenging poet of that school. His poetry attracted the true scholarship and got admired by the Persian literati home and abroad alike for his employment of unique style and subject matter.  Being one of his admirers, Naseer al Din Golarvi not only tried to elaborate Bedil's thoughts but also got influenced by his style and thoughts. The article is a study of Bedil's influence on the verse of Naseer al Din Golarvi

    Poets often use some special words to denote historical facts or personalities in their verse. Such special word is termed as Talmeeh/Allusion. It has great value owing to word economy of the poetry. It is therefore commonly used in poetry of every language. Urdu poets too have been and still employing this term in their poetic expression. This article focuses tradition and importance of Allusion in Urdu poetry besides incorporating its specimens from great poets of Urdu language.

    Dr. Mukhtar-ud-din Ahmad is one of the distinguished Urdu poets in Europe. He is a dauntless critic of political and contemporary conditions of his age. In his purposeful verse, he seems to be a follower of the poetic tradition of Iqbal and Zafar Ali Khan. His poetic creation 'Aks-e-Awaz' carries diverse topics such as divine wisdom, love for Prophet Muhammad (SAW),natural beauty, patriotism, recognition of self, internal pain and problems of Muslim Ummah. He has depicted a dreadful picture of atrocities inflicted by the developed nations on the Muslim. He has also highlighted the miserable condition of his brethren in Pakistan.

    Qiran al-Sa'dain by Amir Khosrow was written at the request of Sultan Kaiqubad. The poem is based on the reconciliatory meeting of Kaiqubad, the Sultan of Delhi and his father, Bughra Khan, the ruler of Bengal on the banks of the river Sar-e-Ju. Amir Khosrow, being an eye witness, was commissioned by Kaiqubad to capture this historical episode. Qiran al-Sa'dain occupies a unique place in the landscape of Subcontinent's Persian literature. Khosrow adopted an innovative style, aesthetically brilliant and historically significant. The description of Delhi, the triumphal arches, the singing girls, the musical instruments, the gifts exchanged between the father and the son, are some of the illustrious components of this long historical poem.

    Annemarie Schimmel was a renowned orientalist of 21st century. She was inclined to learning classical Oriental languages like Arabic and Persian at the very young age. Later she proved to be a polyglot and prolific writer of international repute. She wrote on multiple topics but Islamic Sufism was her main forte. Schimmel dedicated a better part of her life for reading, researching and writing on the great Sufi poet of Islam Maulana Rumi. She wrote 16 books and 49 articles on Rumi in different languages. The Triumphal Sun is her well known compendious work in which she successfully presented the life, art and thought of Maulana Rumi. This book is considered one of the best works on Rumi Studies. This article focuses Schimmel's devotion to Rumi Studies in light of her writings

    Mullah Mhuammad Qasim Mashhadi was a famous poet of the Shahjehan's period. He was born at Mashhad, Iran. When the atmosphere in Iran under the Safvid Rule became non conducive for poetry, number of poets including Mullah Qasim immigrated to the Subcontinent. Great Persian poet Mirza Sa'ib Tabrezi was his mentor in poetry. Mullah Qasim stayed at the state of Bijapure. He did not join any royal court as he preferred to compose popular poetry. He was one of the pioneers and representatives of the Sabk-e-Hindi style of Persian poetry. His verse is rich in diversity of topics, techniques and other poetic beauties.     The metres which are structured with the rhythmical repetition of two different syllabic-feet are called Caesurus Metres.The trend to use Caesurus Metres in Urdu got popularized due to the demands of innovation and poetic experiments at the outset of the twentieth century. Allama Iqbal too, like his other contemporary, got inspired by this new poetical trend. As a result, he used these metres both in poems and lyrics. The diversified use of Caesurus Metres is not to be found in the poetry of any other poet as in that of Iqbal's. The use of these difficult metres in his poetry is a beautiful combination of his thought and art, which reflects his aesthetic sense, prosodic wisdom and  technical expertise.
