Evaluation of Some Biochemical Parameters In Saanen Goats Naturally Infected With Mycoplasma agalactiae
Mycoplasma agalactiae in sheeps and goats causes significant economic losses worldwide. The disease can cause mastitis, arthritis, ophthalmitis and less commonly abortion. This study aimed to reveal what kind of changes the disease causes in routine biochemical parameters and PCT and CRP levels in naturally infected goats. The material of the study consisted of fifteen naturally infected with Mycoplasma agalactiae and nine healthy (control group) female goats in a private commercial enterprise. M. agalactiae was diagnosed by a growth inhibition test in milk and blood serum. Serum biochemical analysis was performed by autoanalyzer. In the statistical study conducted between the control and infected groups, a significant decrease was found in albumin levels and A/G ratio in the infected group, and a significant increase in globulin, chlorine and potassium levels. No significance could be determined in levels of ALT, AST, D.BIL, T.BIL, BUN, Creatinine, Urea, Glucose, Na, P, CRP and PCT. As a result, it was revealed that PCT is not an important biomarker in goats with Mycoplasma agalactiae.Acknowledgements I thank Pendik Veterinary Control Institute for performing the laboratory diagnosis of the disease
Textile Preforms for the Design of Advanced Composites
The use of textile preforms in composite materials has increased over the years. The production of complex shape preforms with lightweight and cost advantages through the automated textile process has brought textiles to the forefront in advanced applications. Today, textile preforms have been used in a wide variety of applications from medical to aerospace. Weaving, knitting, braiding, and stitching technologies have been utilized to create two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) textile preforms from high- performance fibers and/or natural fibers for advanced composite materials. The textile- reinforced composites have different mechanical properties depending on their manufacturing techniques, fiber topology, and design pattern. For instance, 2D textile preforms in which yarn is aligned only in the plane (x- and y- direction) of the laminate have low interlaminar fracture resistance through the thickness (z-direction). To improve the mechanical performance of the 2D fiber-reinforced composites, 3D textile architectures have been introduced which have a binder yarn through their thickness. 3D manufacturing techniques enable to creation of multiaxial complex near-net-shaped textile preforms with cost efficiency. This chapter outlines current and previous research on textile preforms manufacturing techniques: weaving, braiding, knitting, and stitching, and highlights their future aspects. © 2024 by Nova Science Publishers, Inc. Adsorption of Diclofenac Sodium and Tetracycline From Aqueous Solution Using PVA Films Prepared with Modal/Cotton Fiber Wastes
In this study, fiber-polymer composite films were prepared by adding 0.5 g, 1.0 g, and 1.5 g of modal/cotton (50 : 50) waste to 10 % PVA film, and the properties of the films were revealed by SEM, FTIR analyzes and swelling percentage. It is observed that the strength of the bonds in the FTIR analysis decreases when modal/cotton fibers are added to the PVA film. While a 406 % swelling is achieved in the PVA film, the swelling percentages of the films decrease when modal/cotton fibers are added to the PVA film, and a greater swelling is observed at pH 9 compared to pH 5. The adsorption efficiency of tetracycline and diclofenac sodium on the films was researched at different pH levels and film doses. Tetracycline removal reached its highest value at pH 9, while diclofenac sodium removal reached its highest value at pH 5. Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm models were determined for tetracycline and diclofenac sodium adsorption. Tetracycline removal is better described by the Freundlich isotherm model, whereas diclofenac sodium removal fits the Langmuir isotherm model better. As a result, films prepared with modal/cotton waste not only provide tetracycline and diclofenac sodium removal but also contribute to waste recycling by utilizing waste fiber materials. © 2024 Wiley-VCH GmbH.Tekirdağ Namık Kemal Üniversitesi, TNKU, (NKUBAP.06, YL.22.445

Effect of quaternary binder slag-based geopolymer slurries on mechanical durability and microstructural properties of green prepacked composites
This study conducts a detailed investigation into the effects of slag-based quaternary binder geopolymer slurries on the physico-mechanical properties, high temperature resistance, and microstructural characteristics of prepacked composites. This research employs a strategic combination of aluminosilicate precursors, including metakaolin (MK), pumice powder (Pum), and perlite powder (Per), which are blended with slag in varying mix proportion to identify and optimizing the composite's performance. In the key finding reveal that samples containing 20 % of MK achieved superior performance, displaying the lowest porosity and water absorption rates. The oven-dry density of the mixtures demonstrated a marked improvement with the inclusion of MK, increasing from a range of 2150–2230 kg/m3 in 0 % MK mixture to 2250–2350 kg/m3 in those with 20 % MK. Post heat curing, the compressive strength peaked at 31.12 MPa in the mixture comprising 20 % MK, 20 % pumice, and 10 % perlite; however, this strength reduced to 11.92 MPa when subjected to a temperature of 600?. In high temperature resistance tests, the combination of 20 % MK and 10 % perlite resulted in a minimal mass loss of 4 % at 600?, indicating a robust resistance to thermal degradation. Furthermore, the 24-h water capillary absorption displaying lowest water absorption rates. This study provides a critical advancement in the use of natural pozzolans for developing high-performance, slag based geopolymer slurries. The enhanced high-temperature strength and reduced water absorption underscore the potential of these materials to deliver durable and sustainable solution for the construction industry, particularly in application requiring superior thermal resistance and longevity. © 2024 Elsevier Lt
Microwave-Assisted Synthesis of 5-Substituted 3-Amino-1,2,4-triazoles from Aminoguanidine Bicarbonate and Carboxylic Acids
The effect of the molar ratio between reagents, reaction time and temperature on the yield of 5-substituted 3-amino-1,2,4-triazoles obtained by the direct condensation of carboxylic acids with aminoguanidine bicarbonate under acid catalysis conditions was studied. As a result, a general green straightforward synthesis of the title compounds bearing aliphatic substituents or a phenyl ring was developed using sealed reaction vials under controlled microwave synthesis conditions that are suitable for the application of volatile starting carboxylic acids. Our straightforward synthetic method proposed in this work increases the synthetic accessibility of these widely used building blocks and therefore is able to significantly expand the structural diversity of compounds containing a triazole moiety for the needs of drug discovery.Artvin Coruh University research projectNo Statement Availabl

An Examination of the Attention and Psychological Skill Levels of Combat Athletes
The problem statement of the research is to examine whether there is any difference between the selected martial arts branches and attention levels and psychological skill levels. Also, there is a significant difference between gender and psychological skill and attention. The aim of this research is to examine the relationship between the psychological skills and attention levels of athletes involved in four different branches of combat sports (Boxing, Kickboxing, Muay Thai, and Taekwondo). A total of 85 athletes participated in the study, consisting of 52 males and 33 females. As data collection tools, a personal information form, the d2 Test of attention, and scale for evaluating athletes' psychological skills were used. To compare the data, the Independent Samples T-Test was applied for binary groups, and the One-Way ANOVA test was applied for groups of three or more. To determine which groups showed significant differences as a result of the One-Way ANOVA test, Tukey's Post Hoc test was used. At the end of the study, the richness and differences of Muay Thai among combat sports have been brought to the literature
