Aloe Vera Gel (AVG) is a product obtained from the leaf portion of the Barbadensis Miller plant and known for its wound-healing properties. PVA is a water-soluble, biologically disintegrated polymer. PLLA, the stereoisomer of the biodegradable polylactic acid obtained from corn, is a thermoplastic polymer and has properties such as strength and elasticity. In this study, in the first stage, PLLA polymer was converted into nanoweb form as a carrier layer. In the second stage, two-layer nanobiocomposites were produced by applying aloe vera (AVG)/PVA mixture on the existing PLLA nanoweb on the collector of the electrospinning device. The effects of the AVG addition of AVG/PVA/PLLA nanobiocomposite structures containing 0 %, 5 %, 10 %, and 20 % of AVG were examined by using instrumental methods such as viscosity, conductivity, pH, SEM, tensile strength, stretch %, delicacy, FT-IR, and XRD.As a result, the percentage of crystallization due to the AVG ratio in the mixtures increased and has been found to provide resistance to the structure. This feature will be the source for the formation of biocrheable resistant materials in future medical studies related to AVG.Aloe vera (AVG) jel formundadır ve yara iyileşmesinde kullanılır. No full text
Background Previous reports from relatively small clinical cohorts have suggested that the clinical presentation of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) differs between men and women. Objective We aimed to explore sex differences in clinical and polysomnographic features of OSA in a large nationwide registry. Methods Participants from the ongoing Turkish Sleep Apnea Database (TURKAPNE) Study from 34 centers were included in the current analysis. OSA was defined as an apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) >= 5 events/hour and was classified as mild, moderate, and severe according to AHI cut-offs 5, 15, and 30 events/hour, respectively. Results In all, 7130 patients (2259 women) were included. OSA was observed in 6323 (88.7 %), of whom 70.2 % were male and 29.8 % were female. In the OSA group, women were older (56.7 +/- 11.9 vs. 49.5 +/- 11.3 years; p < 0.001) and more obese (body mass index 34.3 +/- 7.2 vs. 31.4 +/- 5.6 kg/m(2); p < 0.001) and had lower AHI (29.8 +/- 24.1 vs. 36.8 +/- 26.2 events/h; p < 0.001) than men. Loud snoring and witnessed apnea were more common in men than in women whereas women were more frequently presented with insomnia, headache, and mood changes. Women had significantly less total sleep time, less sleep efficiency, and longer sleep latency compared with men (p < 0.001 for each). Additionally, comorbid diseases such as diabetes mellitus, hypertension, asthma, psychiatric disorders, hypothyroidism as well as drug use were more common in women than in men independent of age and obesity (p < 0.05 for each). Conclusions Our results suggest significant sex differences in clinical and polysomnographic features in this nationwide Turkish adult population. Women with OSA have more symptom burden and comorbidities despite having a less severe AHI.Turkish Thoracic SocietyTurkish Thoracic Society

Road Construction and repair activities have been examined in two periods in economic history. The First is the Classical Period. During this period road construction and repair activities in Anatolia were in the form of repair and maintenance of roads from the Roman Period and the Seljuck Period. In short, existing roads were tried to be preserved, a new road network was not planned. The second period is the Renewal Period. The study is, it was prepared in the light of archival documents, as the road construction and repair activities on the Anatolian right arm route inversed in the 19th century and the functionality of new institutions increased. In this regard, the changes in agricultural production, import and export figures and the development of industry in this regard, with the effect of the development of road construction and repair activities in the Hüdavendigâr, Aydin, Konya, Adana Provinces with the administrative division made within the framework of the provincial regulations of 1864 and 1871. It will be examined within the cause-effect relationship. © 2025 Istanbul Universitesi. All rights reserved

First detection and molecular characterization of Chaphamaparvovirus galliform in broiler and turkey flocks in Türkiye

    No full text
BackgroundA newly uncovered parvovirus, Chaphamaparvovirus, continues to be reported across various species. This study investigated the detection and genetic characterization of Chaphamaparvovirus galliform (GaChpV) in poultry, specifically broilers and turkeys, from various regions in T & uuml;rkiye. To address this, comprehensive sampling and analysis were conducted to better understand the virus's distribution and impact in these avian populations.ResultsIn 2023, a total of 1060 fecal samples were collected from 76 broiler flocks (10 healthy and 66 with enteritis) and 30 turkey flocks (10 healthy and 20 with enteritis). Using nested PCR with specific primer sets, the study detected GaChpV in 36 out of 76 broiler flocks (47.3%) and 2 out of 30 turkey flocks (6,6%). Although GaChpV was detected at notable frequencies, the analysis revealed no statistically significant association between GaChpV and enteritis cases (p = 0.617). In this study, the nucleotide sequences (nt) of the capsid genes from GaChpV strains isolated from broilers and turkeys were 99 to 100% identical. Furthermore, these strains exhibited a high degree of genetic similarity ranging from 73 to 98% to Chaphamaparvovirus galliform 2 (GaChpV-2) strains from Europe, China, and Brazil. Complete genome sequencing of a broiler strain (CkChPV/2023/UN-2-TR) yielded a genome of 4,229 nucleotides, with sequence identity ranging from 78.93 to 98.82% compared to other GaChpV strains. Phylogenetic analysis further revealed that the CkChPV/2023/UN-2-TR strain clustered with GaChpV-2 strains, highlighting its genetic relatedness and diversity within the GaChpV family. The study also investigated genetic recombination signals and identified potential B-cell linear epitopes, contributing to a better understanding of the virus's genetic diversity and antigenic characteristics.ConclusionsThis report represents the first detection of GaChpV in turkey and broiler flocks in T & uuml;rkiye. Notably, research on this topic in turkeys is quite limited. The data derived from this study will contribute to elucidating the molecular epidemiology and evolutionary dynamics of GaChpV

In this paper, a novel hybrid electrode materials together with graphene oxide or reduced graphene oxide (GO/rGO), titanium dioxide (TiO2), polythiophene (PTh), and carbon black (CB) were prepared an easy, low cost, and sustainable approach to synthesize GO/TiO2/PTh and rGO/TiO2/PTh/CB nanocomposites. In addition, GO/TiO2/PTh by different weight amount of TiO2 (0.05, 0.075, 0.1, and 0.125 g) were studied in two-electrode system for supercapacitor device applications. Nanocomposites were characterized by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy-attenuated total reflectance (FTIR-ATR), scanning electron microscopy-energy-dispersive X-ray (SEM-EDX), atomic force microscopy (AFM) analysis, thermogravimetric-differential thermal analysis (TGA-DTA), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) analysis, and four-point probe analysis. The highest specific capacitance was achieved as C-sp = 1292.63 F/g for rGO/TiO2/PTh/CB nanocomposite at 2 mV/s by CV method. The highest electrical conductivity was observed as (sic) = 2.24 x 10(-3) S/cm for PTh. PTh increases the electron transfer movement together with TiO2 and CB nanoparticles. The surface area (58.62 m(2)/g for rGO) and pore volume of rGO (0.027 cm(3)/g for rGO) support the better electrochemical performance of rGO/TiO2/PTh/CB nanocomposite. Moreover, the long-term stability experiments show that the highest initial specific capacitance preservation was obtained as 110% for rGO/TiO2/PTh/CB nanocomposite at 100 mV/s for 1000 charge-discharge cycles. Moreover, it exhibits high coulombic efficiency. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopic (EIS) results were evaluated to interpret equivalent circuit models of [R-S(C-1(R-1(R2C2)))] obtained from ZSimpWin 3.22 simulation programme.Tekirdag Namik Kemal University [NKUBAP.01]; Scientific and Research Project Unit (Tekirdag Namik Kemal University)This work is a part of the research project NKUBAP.01.YL.21.350 approved by the Scientific and Research Project Unit (Tekirdag Namik Kemal University). Weighted statistical soft convergence in soft topologies

    No full text
Soft sets and statistical convergence are both mathematical tools with which some generalizations can be made. In this study, we defined the weighted statistical convergence of soft point sequences in soft topological spaces and examined it from some aspects. Furthermore, statistical convergence was attained using g-density, a more versatile density function than asymptotic density. Regarding weighted soft statistical convergence concept, we also establish some relationships between soft topology and the classical topology induced by it within the framework of the statistical convergence concept and some clusters associated with statistical convergence were defined. © 2025, University of Nis. Unveiling the predictive role of motor competence and physical fitness on inhibitory control in preschool children: a cross-sectional study

    No full text
BackgroundDuring the preschool years, children experience rapid development of inhibitory control (IC). This period is also crucial to foster the establishment of the foundations of physical fitness (PF) and motor competence (MC), which are essential for long-term health outcomes. This study aimed to investigate the predictive roles of PF and MC in IC in preschool children.MethodA total of 139 children (78 boys and 61 girls) participated in the study, with a mean age of 5.76 +/- 0.30 years and a body mass index (BMI) of 16.15 +/- 1.94 kg/m(2). Children performed the Go/No-Go test, K & ouml;rperkoordinationstest f & uuml;r Kinder (KTK3+) test, static and dynamic balance tests, a pro-agility and countermovement jumping (CMJ) test.ResultsThe findings showed that there was a positive association between MCT and accuracy number (AC) (go) (beta = 0.079, 95%CI: 0.051-0.107), AC (no go) (beta = 0.022, 95%CI: 0.003-0.041). However, between MCT and reaction time (RT), there was a negative relationship (beta = \documentclass[12pt]{minimal} \usepackage{amsmath} \usepackage{wasysym} \usepackage{amsfonts} \usepackage{amssymb} \usepackage{amsbsy} \usepackage{mathrsfs} \usepackage{upgreek} \setlength{\oddsidemargin}{-69pt} \begin{document}\:-\end{document}0.497, 95%CI: \documentclass[12pt]{minimal} \usepackage{amsmath} \usepackage{wasysym} \usepackage{amsfonts} \usepackage{amssymb} \usepackage{amsbsy} \usepackage{mathrsfs} \usepackage{upgreek} \setlength{\oddsidemargin}{-69pt} \begin{document}\:-\end{document}0.988 - \documentclass[12pt]{minimal} \usepackage{amsmath} \usepackage{wasysym} \usepackage{amsfonts} \usepackage{amssymb} \usepackage{amsbsy} \usepackage{mathrsfs} \usepackage{upgreek} \setlength{\oddsidemargin}{-69pt} \begin{document}\:-\end{document}0.006). MCT scores showed a significant positive relationship with AC (go), with a beta coefficient of 0.309 (95% CI: 0.181, 0.436). This finding further underscores the robustness of this relationship. The PF indicator agility showed a negative relationship with AC (go) (beta = -3.638 [-5.590, -1.687]) and static balance was negatively related to RT (beta = -34.767, 95% CI [0.018, 0.165]).ConclusionsOverall, this study indicates that MC, rather than general PF, is strongly associated with the concurrent level of IC during the preschool period. These findings highlight the potential importance of promoting MC through targeted interventions that may support cognitive function in young children. Further longitudinal research is recommended to explore the causal relationships and long-term effects of these interventions.Study registrationResearch protocol number: 2022.214.11.15.PNYRSP [PNURSP2025R286]; Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University Researchers Supporting Project; Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University, Riyadh, Saudi ArabiaThis research was funded by Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University Researchers Supporting Project number (PNURSP2025R286), Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

    Compact objects in f(R,Lm) theory

    No full text
In this study, it is aimed to investigate the Krori-Barua type compact stars within the scope of f(R, L-m) theory. In this context, first, the field equations are obtained by considering the f(R, L-m) = R/2 + alpha L-m(n) model. Interestingly, the model offers chance to attain all components of matter without any restrictions. In addition, data sets from LMC X-4, EXO 1785-248 and Cen X-3 are used to analyze physical stability of the solutions. It is obtained that all conditions such as causality and stability. which indicate consistency between compact objects and f(R, L-m) theory are valid for the constructed model. We obtained that small values of n in the f(R, L-m) function show significant effect on the consistency of the star models. Therefore, different n values are considered for each star data set when graphing the physical states. Finally, necessary quantities of the model are defined, compared with the considered stars and discussed in detail

ADORNO’S CHANGING IDEAS ABOUT CINEMA: ALEXANDER KLUGE CINEMA AND THE FILM YESTERDAY GIRL/ANITA G.

Theodor W. Adorno’s contribution to film studies is widely regarded as being confined to the section on Culture Industry. Within this paradigm, Adorno's approach to cinema has been predominantly influenced by themes of conservatism, elitism and pessimism concerning mass culture, media, art and technology. However, Adorno’s thinking on cinema underwent a shift in the context of the Oberhausen Declaration by Young German Filmmakers in 1962 and the emergence of the critical potential of auteur cinema. The notion that film can attain its critical potential even within the prevailing social and economic conditions gained widespread acceptance. The director’s perspective was significantly influenced by his relationship with Alexander Kluge, who was Adorno’s student and assistant at the Frankfurt School for a period, and who was instrumental in the formulation of the Oberhausen Declaration. This study aims to elucidate Adorno's evolving cinematic perspectives through a descriptive analysis of Kluge’s film Abschied von Gestern - (Anita G.) (1966). The study finds that Adorno’s perspective on cinema underwent a substantial shift in his thinking, a departure from his earlier works. The film Abschied von Gestern - (Anita G.) is regarded as a concrete reflection of Adorno’s shift in perception regarding cinema's role in the culture industry

Development and Validation of the Colorimetric Charge Transfer Complex for Estimation of Cefpodoxime Proxetil in Bulk and Pharmaceutical Preparations

    No full text
Cefpodoxime proxetil (CFP) is a third-generation cephalosporins group antibiotic which is an antibacterial beta-lactam agent that is used in the treatment of acute otitis, pharyngitis, tonsillitis and lower respiratory tract infections (e.g. pinomonia and bronchitis). A simple, fast and sensitive spectrophotometric method was developed for the determination of cefpodoxime proxetile in bulk and pharmaceutical preparations. The proposed method was based on the charge transfer interactions of cefpodoxime proxetil as n-electron donor with 7,7,8,8-tetracyan oquinodimethane (TCNQ) as the pi-acceptor. In addition, the described method was validated in accordance with the requirements of ICH guidelines. The absorbance was measured at 596 nm. The parameter of linearity, LOD, LOQ, accuracy, precision and recovery were also evaluated. The assay was linear over the concentration range of 3.0-15.0 mu g/mL. The correlation coefficient was obtained 0.9997 for CFP. LOD and LOQ values were found to be 0.036 and 0.108 mu g/mL, respectively. Recovery values were obtained ranging from 99.97 to 101.3% according to the standard addition method. The performance of the proposed method was evaluated in terms of the student's t-test and variance ratio F-test to find out the significance of the proposed methods over the reference spectrophotometric method. The developed method was successfully applied for estimation of CFP in a pure form and as a pharmaceutical preparate
