    Determination and Implementation of the Shortest Path for Emergency Evacuation at the Bali Dwipa University Building: A Case Study

    This study applies the Floyd Warshall Algorithm to determine the shortest emergency evacuation route in the Bali Dwipa University building. An efficient and fast evacuation route is essential to ensure the safety of all building occupants. This study was conducted at Bali Dwipa University, Denpasar, Bali, to evaluate and map the building layout to the third floor as part of the evacuation system analysis. The research methodology involves collecting primary and secondary data and direct manual measurements in the field. The research stages begin with creating a building plan, which includes collecting information on the layout and existing evacuation procedures. Furthermore, using a precision measuring instrument, mapping the relationship between objects is carried out with manual measurements of the distance between rooms to determine the evacuation route to a safe point. The results of these measurements are analyzed to build a spatial structure by selecting the nodes and edges in the graph that represent the building. Then, the Floyd-Warshall algorithm is implemented to find the shortest path from each room to the gathering point, located in the first floor's lower front yard. The study results indicate that applying the Floyd-Warshall algorithm effectively determines the shortest path from each node in the Bali Dwipa University building to the main evacuation point. By mapping the nodes from the 1st to the 3rd floor and measuring the distance between the nodes, this study produces a clearly defined optimal evacuation route. This study is expected to improve the efficiency of evacuation routes and the safety of occupants in emergencies

    Modelling Water Absorption Index and Compressive Strength of Paving Stone Composites with Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) as Total Binder Replacement

    Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) wastes were melted and mixed with river sand to produce paving stone composites (PSCs) of mix ratio 1:3, labelled (PET: 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50%); and sand-cement mix of 1:3 labelled PET 0% (control). In a mold measuring 50 × 100 × 200mm, three replicates of PSCs of each mix ratio and control, were produced and cured in water at a room temperature of (27 ± 2ºC) for 28 days. The PSCs showed a better water absorption property as it ranges from 6.98 % to 3.59 % as against 11.11 % for the control. Significant compressive strengths were shown by the PSCs; PET 30% had the highest mean value of 20.59 N/mm2, while the control had the lowest mean value of 8.63 N/mm2. Using Design Expert tool in analyzing the laboratory data obtained for both water absorption index and compressive strength, the results show that the developed quadratic model for water absorption index (WAI) has an adjusted and predicted coefficient of regressions of 0.9851 and 0.9821 respectively, with an average precision of 98.62% within the research work, allowing for simulation of WAI outcomes at different PET contents. Also, the compressive strength model is a quadratic, with adjusted and predicted coefficients of regressions of 0.9623 and 0.9526 respectively, and shows reduced variation between actual and predicted values, making it useful for design space navigation.     Optimization of Process Variables in the production of Biodiesel from Jatropha-Neem Hybrid Feed stock Mixture

    In the search for suitable clean and renewable fuels to replace conventional diesel, alternatives such as biodiesels are being researched upon daily. Challenges of low biodiesel yield per hectare of vegetable oils have prompted the need for optimization. This research is aimed at optimizing process variables in the production of biodiesel from the mixture of Jatropha and Neem seed oils. A 31-run Central Composite Design was employed in a response surface optimization process; four independent process variables, namely temperature, time, catalyst concentration and mixing speed were optimized in an alkali based transesterification process of biodiesel synthesis. The result was a 97.05% biodiesel yield from Jatropha –Neem hybrid mixture

    Improving Decision-Making Capabilities in a Complex Air Combat Environment

    This study aims to improve the decision-making ability of Indonesian Air Force pilots in a complex air combat environment by establishing a special school for pilots. The study results indicate that establishing an air combat school is very important to overcome the challenges of rapid decision-making in dynamic and uncertain situations. In addition, realistic exercises, such as Mission-Oriented Training (MOT) and Composite Air Operations (COMAO), play an important role in improving the combat readiness of pilots. This school is also expected to function as a center for developing air combat tactics and strategies and providing comprehensive training for all Indonesian Air Force pilots. With the establishment of this school, synergy will be created between various air power units to strengthen the combat capability of the Indonesian Air Force in maintaining Indonesia's air sovereignty. It is hoped that the Indonesian Air Force can immediately establish an air combat school that focuses on developing the operational capabilities of pilots through realistic exercises and international collaboration

    Supportive Organizational Context and Employee Commitment: the case of Information Technology Companies

    This study explores key factors of supportive organizational context that enhance employee commitment. A qualitative research approach is used to gather data. Data was gathered from employees in 15 information technology (IT) companies in Nepal, ranging from senior IT professionals to entry-level personnel. 60 employees (34 men and 26 women) took part in the discussion. They discussed several themes related to organizational context that affect employee commitment. The results show that IT professionals were found aware of a variety of factors that support creating and enhancing employee commitment. They include trust and transparency, recognition and reward systems, personal values and organizational alignment, safety and work conditions, organizational culture, fair treatment and equity, support services and resources, leadership influence, interpersonal relationships at work, and employee autonomy and empowerment. Together, these factors form a complete work environment where employees feel valued, inspired, and in alignment with the goals and core values of the company. Thus, today's companies need to create a strong and supportive organizational context in order to boost employee commitment. They must focus on the efficient use of human capital and foster an atmosphere that inspires employees to become devoted and committed

    New Generated Keys of the AES Algorithm Based on the SHA256 Algorithm for Image Encryption

    To prevent unauthorized access to digital data, stronger encryption solutions are needed. The Advanced Encryption Standard is instrumental to cryptographic security, but this reliance on traditional forms of key generation risks undoing its potency. In order to fulfill this effect that the research presents its new work for another version of AES key generation with SHA256. Using the high entropy of SHA256, we generate even more complicated and unpredictable keys that drastically raises resilience to cryptographic attacks. We demonstrate this with a Python implementation of our proposed method along with experiments on image data which show significantly increased encryption strength over standard AES, whilst having similar performance.
