Adoption Behaviour Of Farmers Towards Off-Season Improved Cucumber Cultivation Practices In Wokha District Of Nagaland
Get PDFCucumber is one of the oldest vegetable crop grown widely throughout India as well as tropical and sub-tropical parts of the world. Nagaland, one of the eight states of the north east region is blessed with suitable agro climatic conditions and its soil is suitable for agriculture, where cucumber is grown in all the districts. Cucumber farmers in Nagaland have a lot of potential to venture out economically and establish successful adoption practices. The study was conducted with the objectives to study the characteristics of cucumber growers, the extent of knowledge and determine the level of adoption by off season cucumber growers and to delineate the constraints faced by the respondents and to obtain their suggestions. An interview schedule based on the study was prepared and data were collected with the help of interview schedule and processed through primary and secondary tables and statistical analysis. The present study was conducted in Baghty block of Wokha district of Nagaland. A total number of 120 respondents from 4 villages were selected using proportionate random sampling procedure. The respondents were contacted personally and interviewed. The study revealed that majority of the cucumber belonged to middle aged group, educated between primary and high school level, had medium level of annual income with medium size of land holding. Majority of them had medium year of farming experience, use of sources of information and medium level of extension contact. It was observed that the majority of the respondents had medium level of adoption of recommended off season cucumber cultivation practices
Impact of Weed Management Practices on Growth and Yield of Lentil (Lens culinaris L.)
Get PDF:An investigation was conducted on agriculture research farm, School of Agricultural Sciences, SGRRU in Dehradun district to evaluate the different weed management practices on growth and yield of lentil during the Rabi season of 2018-2019-with four replications and nine treatments to investigate the impact of manual, herbicidal and integrated treatments. The treatments constituents quizalofop ethyl @ 55gm, ha as PE, imazethapyr @ 37gm/ha as PE, Chlorimuran ethyl @ 4.5 gm/ha as PPI, pendimethalin @ 1.5 kg as PE, Pendimethalin + Imazethapyr (ready – mix) @ 0.20 kg /ha, Pendimethalin + Imazethapyr (ready – mix) @ 1.5 kg a.i/ha as PE, Pendimethalin @ 1.5 kg/ha as PE + Hand weeding at 40 DAS, Hand weeding thrice at 35, 65 and 90 DAS and control plot. The highest grain and straw yield were recorded 1865 kg/ha and 3099 kg/ha respectively during T8 treatment and the lowest 1380 kg/ha and 2582 kg/ha of grain and star yield was recorded during T3 treatment. The prominent weeds found in the experimental plot were Cannabis sativa, Cynodon dactylon, Chenpodium album and Parthenium hysterophorus: and these weeds together consituted 57 percent of the total weed population. 
ADOPTION BEHAVIOR OF GOND FARMERS ABOUT IMPROVED FARMING PRACTICES OF SUGARCANE IN LUNDRA BLOCK OF SURGUJA DISTRICT IN CHHATTISGARH
Get PDFThe present study was conducted in the Surguja district of Chhattisgarh. From the present study it was undertaken to find out the adoption level of gond farmers towards sugarcane farming practices was conducted in lundra block of sarguja district. The 120 respondents were selected from 10 villages of sarguja district by proportionate random sampling method. The data were collected by personal interview method with the help of pre-structured interview schedule. The study revealed that majority of the respondents had medium level of socio-economic status found that majority of respondents i.e. 57.50 per cent of the total respondents were in the medium level of adoption group, whereas 14.17 per cent respondents were in low adoption group and remaining 28.33 per cent sugarcane growers were observed in the category of high level of adoption about sugarcane production technology. There was positively and non- significant relationship between age, education, family type, family size and significant relationship with annual income and land holding. 
Impact of COVID-19 on Agriculture and Allied Sectors
Get PDF Impact of Corona virus outbreak on mankind is serious. Apart from health issues and social life stand still, global economy has been affected drastically. Many sectors have been hit by this pandemic and agriculture and allied sectors are no exception. Issues such as shortage of labour, restricted access to markets have been tremendously affected this sector. Many of its frailties were exposed during the course but the resilient cultivation sector surfaced with some promising results after a good monsoon and aggressive response demonstrated by the government to support the sector. Government excluded several farming activities such as farm operations, agribusiness, dairy, poultry and fishery from lockdown limitations after the lockdown extended in May, 2020. Pandemic also presented a great opportunity to think over and evaluate the hidden potential of respective sectors. Solemn efforts are required for innovation and technical up gradation of agricultural operations to alleviate the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. As India struggles to uplift the distressed economy, government announced economic stimulus package worth INR 20, 00,000 crore under Atma Nirbhar Bharat Campaign. Long term impacts of this campaign are estimated to develop agriculture and allied sectors with major emphasis on quality products and increased exports of agriculture commodities. 
IMPACT OF EFFECTIVENESS OF TRAINING ORGANIZED BY KVK ON KNOWLEDGE OF PADDY GROWERS IN DARBHANGA DISTRICT OF BIHAR
No full textKVK is an integral part of the National Agricultural Research System (NARS), aims at assessment of location specific technology modules in Agriculture and allied enterprises, through technology assessment, refinement and demonstration. The Government has launched Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) Portal which will help in monitoring the functioning of KVKs at the National level and in providing timely information and advisory to the farmers. The present study was conducted in Darbhanga district of Bihar to find the impact of effectiveness of training organized by KVK on knowledge of paddy growers. A total of 120 respondents were selected randomly for present study. The data were collected through a pre- structured interview schedule and later appropriate statistical analysis were done to find out the meaningful results. Most of the trained paddy growers had an equal percentage of medium (43.33%) and high (43.33%) level of knowledge. More than half of the untrained paddy growers (58.33%) had medium level of knowledge, followed by low (26.67%) and high (15%) level of knowledge
Knowledge and Adoption of Mentha Growers Regarding Recommended Cultivation Practices of Mentha Crop in Siddhaur Block of Barabanki District Uttar Pradesh
Get PDFThis study was conducted in Siddhaur block of Barabanki district of Uttar Pradesh in 2020-2021. With the help of random sampling method, 120 Mentha growers were selected and data were collected by personal interview method by using pre-tested interview schedule and later appropriate statistical analysis was done to find out the meaningful result. The finding of the study revealed that the overall level of knowledge of mentha growers regarding the recommended practices indicated they have medium knowledge level. The Adoption level of mentha growers on recommended cultivation practices of mentha also indicated as medium level of adoption (66.70%), followed by low level of adoption (21.70%) and high level of adoption (11.60%)
AWARENESS OF THE RESPONDENTS TOWARDS ACTIVITIES OF CO-OPERATIVE SOCIETY IN PATNA DISTRICT OF BIHAR
Get PDFAgriculture being the backbone of Indian economy also acts as the core of Bihar‟s economy, employing 77 per cent of the work force and generating 35 per cent of the state domestic product. Meanwhile, the modernization and improvement of agriculture needs considerable investment. Whereas, Indian agriculture remained as poor man‟s occupation institutional credit plays an important role in agricultural development. Thus, Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) provide cheaper credit to agriculture. Descriptive research design is adopted. 120 respondents from Baruna, Chipra and Faziabad in Sampatchak block of Patna district in Bihar was purposively selected for the study since it had more number of co-operative society are present as compared to others. The primary data were collected with the help of interview schedule and the responses were recorded, classified and tabulated and appropriate statistical tools were employed. The results indicated that 48.33 per cent of the respondents were aware of the functions of the co-operative society and 45 per cent of the respondents opined that the cooperative society performance was average in marketing of agricultural products. It also implied that rules, regulations and laws should be enacted and standardized for better regulation of cooperative societies. 
CQI – For Grading Quality of Composts
Get PDF Organic soil management has become the pressing need today for reversing the cycle of soil degradation and thereby putting a step forward towards soil and crop sustainability. Adverse effects of modern agricultural practices not only on the farm but also on the health of all living things and thus on the environment have been well documented all over the world. After years of chemical fertilizer use, many Indian farmers are beginning to return to organic fertilizers. Vermicompost is a nutritive organic fertiliser rich in NKP, micronutrients like calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg), zinc (Zn) and manganese (Mn), humic acid, acceptable C:N ratio etc. The problem of quality control is a major limitation to the efficient use of compost in modern commercial agriculture, it is very difficult to standardize and characterize the finished products. Compost Quality Index (CQI), using four specific compost quality parameters viz. total nutrient content, C/N ratio, microbial potential and germination percent, is the best way to classify the quality of different types of compost as good, moderate, poor etc. for easy understanding at the users’ level.

PERCEPTION AND PREFERENCE OF SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS IN ADOPTION OF AGRICULTURAL INNOVATIONS AMONG FARMERS OF KURNOOL DISTRICT, ANDHRA PRADESH
Get PDFAgriculture is the prime contributor and serves food, raw materials for secondary production. In this modern era, when everything are modernized, agriculture also need to be modernized which can be done by adopting new innovations in agriculture. But absence of linkage between researchers and extension workers leads to lesser rate of adoption of farmers. In order to increase the rate of adoption, there should be a proper linkage to bridge the gap between the researchers and the extension service providers, which can be done with the help of social media. Hence, there is a need to study about the perception and preferences of various social media platforms in adoption of agricultural innovations among farmers. A random of 120 farmers those who possess smartphone of Kurnool district were selected as respondents and the data is gathered through pre-tested interview schedule. Findings of the study revealed that, importance and popularity of various social media platforms among farmers for adoption of innovations. To promote agriculture, the farmers should be improvised with up-to-date technologies and information. Hence, the farmers’ knowledge can be updated with the help of social media through Government and Extension service providers using appropriate programmes and schemes.
