Multivariate Genetic Divergence Studies in Brinjal (Solanum melongena L.)
The present experiment was conducted during July-December, 2017 in RBD with two replication to study genetic diversity for nine quantitative traits in brinjal at APHC College farm, APHC, Kalavai using Mahalanobis D2 statistics method. The 35 genotypes were grouped into nineteen clusters, indicating the presence of diversity for different traits. The cluster I had the highest number containing six genotypes followed by cluster II and III containing four genotypes each while the clusters IV,V,VI,XVII and XIX consisted two genotypes each. However, the cluster VII, VIII, IX, X, XI, XII, XIII, XIV, XV, XVI and XVIII were solitary. There is no relationship between geographical distribution and genetic distance. The maximum intra-cluster distance was recorded within cluster III (604.33) and the maximum inter-cluster distance between cluster IX and XIII (6070.31), indicating the existence of wide genetic variability and the genotypes in these clusters could be utilized as parents in hybridization programme to develop high heterotic hybrids and to identify trangressive segregants in F2 generation. Among the characters studied total fruit yield per plant, fruit length, days to first flower, number of branches per plant showed maximum contribution towards the diversity. The genetic divergent offered by these characters will offer scope for improving yield through rational selection.
ADOPTION LEVEL OF FARMERS TOWARDS IMPROVED PADDY CULTIVATION PRACTICES IN BOSING BLOCK OF EAST SIANG DISTRICT, ARUNACHAL PRADESH
Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is regarded as a first cultivated crop of Asia. Preserved rice grains were found in china around 3000 B.C. paddy grains found during excavation at Hastinapur (India) around 1000750 B.C., considered centre of origin of rice. About 90 per cent of the rice in the world is grown in Asia. Rice provides 27 per cent of dietary energy supply and 20 per cent of dietary protein intake in the developing world. The global production of rice has been estimated to be at the level of 680 mt and the area under rice cultivation is estimated at 156 m ha in 2009 (Anonymous, 2010a). Hence the present study was undertaken to find out the adoption level of the paddy farmers towards improved paddy cultivation practices in Bosing block of East Siang district, Arunachal Pradesh. The study revealed that most of the respondents (43.33%) had medium level of Adoption followed by low (28.34%) and high (28.33%)

Consumption of Soft Drink and it’s Implication on Health
Soft drink consumption has expanded rapidly, so much so that soft drinks are currently the largest single contributors to energy intake. In this paper, we investigate the factor which leads to the consumption of soft drink and effect of the consumption of soft drink. Data was collected by the help of questionnaire and chi square test was used to relate the different variables. 70% are male respondents and 30% are female respondents from age group 20-40 years. Factors considered to know the influence of soft drink preference are price, flavour, advertisement, availability, brand, nutritive value, temperature. This study identifies that male consumers are greater than female consumers which are mainly from 20-40years of age. Advertisement does not affect much the buying preference. Main factors which effect the buying preference are flavour, availability and temperature. Factors taken in consideration to know the effect of consumption of soft drink are health effect and artificial sweetener. Calculated chi square values for these factors are X2 = 0.159805(advertisement), 0.361596(flavour), 0.312476(price), 0.22484(nutritive value), 1.399375(temperature), 0.113782(artificial sweetener). These values are calculated by statistical tool chi square from the responses received.

CONSTRAINTS FACED BY RESPONDENTS ON KISAN CREDIT CARD SCHEME AND SEEK THEIR SUGGESTIONS FOR BETTER SERVICES
The scheme Kisan credit card was started in August 1998 in order to provide timely and hassle free credit for the production requirements of the farmers. The main purpose of the scheme was to meet the production as well as consumption needs of the farmers. The present study was conducted in Soraon block of Prayagraj district of Uttar Pradesh. Ex-post facto research design was followed for the analysis. There are 20 blocks in the selected district out of that Soraon block was selected purposively because the existence of Kisan Credit Card scheme is comparatively more as compared to other blocks. There are 71 villages in the selected block out of that number of 6 villages was selected based on maximum number of farmers involved in KCC scheme. Total number of 120 respondents were selected randomly from 6 villages for the present study The major constraints faced by the respondents are High rate of interest on loan followed by Purpose of availing loan not accepting, Timeliness of credit, Delay by bank side and Duration of loan was very short. It was suggested that Credit limit to be increased considering family expenses, Extent of validity of card up to 5 years, Lower the interest rate, Repayment only after harvest, Flexibility to draw cash and Limit to be fixed on the basis of operational land holding, which will be lead all round development in the research area
