    Analysis of Resistant Mechanisms in Groundnut Genotypes against Late Leaf Spot Disease

    Forty two groundnut (Arachis hypogaea) cultivars were screened for resistance to Phaeoisariopsispersonata under glasshouse conditions. Among them, two germplasms (VG19561 and VG19654) were found to have resistance against late leaf spot. Biochemical parameters such as, phenylalanine ammonia-lyase, peroxidase, polyphenol oxidase and total phenols were estimated among the resistant germplasms and susceptible check, VRI2. biochemical analysis revealed the increased activities of the enzymes viz., phenylalanine ammonia lyase, peroxidase, polyphenol oxidase, and phenolics in the resistant germplasms viz., VG19561 and VG19654 than the susceptible check, VRI 2.&nbsp

    Knowledge of Farmers Towards Improved Wheat Production Practices in Prayagraj District of Uttar Pradesh

    The present investigation was conducted in Uruwa block of Prayagraj district, Uttar Pradesh. One hundred twenty respondents were selected randomly from 15 villages which were selected purposively. The primary data were gathered by the researcher itself through pre-structured interview schedule. Appropriate statistical tools were used to interpret the collected data to draw logical conclusion. The finding inferred that majority of farmers were having medium level of knowledge towards improved wheat production practices. Age, Education, land holding, Mass media exposure, Extension contacts, Economic motivation were observed positive and significant correlation with their knowledge level

    FACTORS INFLUENCING TRIBAL FARMERS TO SHIFT FROM TRADITIONAL TO MODERN AGRICULTURE IN WAYANAD DISTRICT OF KERALA

    Agriculture has always been a way of life and culture for the traditional farmers. The major occupation of the tribal communities has always been agriculture. The pressure to meet the growing demands of the increasing population forced countries like India to adopt modern methods of farming. This gradually brought about changes in the ancient farming systems that existed in the Country. Kurichiya tribal community in Wayanad district of Kerala is the first agricultural community in the district and has an important role in the agricultural sector of the State. Today, changes have taken place in various aspects of the farming they follow, as a result of influence fro0m several factors.  The study was conducted in Wayanad district of Kerala purposively for analyzing the socio-economic profile and the association of selected independent variables with factors influencing the Kurichiya tribal farmers to shift from traditional to modern agricultural system. The study was conducted using Descriptive research design. A total of 120 respondents were selected for the study. Pre-tested schedule was used for collection of data and statistical tools were used for analyzing. Karl Pearsons’s Co-efficient of Correlation test was used to find the association between independent variables and factors influencing the respondents. The important findings of the study were that the factors influencing had a highly significant and positive relationship with Education, Mass Media exposure and Progressiveness

    ADOPTION OF IMPROVED FARM PRACTICES IN MAIZE BY THE FARMERS OF NUAPADA DISTRICT OF ODISHA

    Maize (Zea Mays L.) is considered as a unique cereal crop for its diversified use and suitability under various cropping systems. In India it is the third largest cereal crop in terms of acreage. The present study was conducted in Khariar block of Nuapada district of Odisha.  Descriptive research design was followed, since the present study is fact-finding and present description of the respondents as well as the area. There are 117 villages in the selected block out of that 12 villages were selected through Random sampling based on existence of Maize cultivation. From the above analysis, it was concluded that majority (85.00%) of respondents were male. Majority (45.00%) of the respondents belonged to both the age group of (20-35) years and (36-55) years. Majority (80.00%) of respondents were married. Majority (70.00%) of respondents were having annual income more than 51,000. Majority (35.00%) of respondents were having education qualification up to High School. Majority (60.00%) of respondents were having land holding of 1-2 hectare. Majority (75.00%) of respondents were occupation Maize Farming and other crops farming collectively. Majority (80.00%) of respondents were having joint family. Majority (65.00%) of respondents were having family size of more than 5 members. Majority (45.00%) of respondents were having semi-cemented house. Majority (40.00%) of respondents were having social participation in Farmers Society. Majority (65.00%) of respondents daily used mobile. Majority (70.00%) of respondents were having maize farming experience up to 120 years. Majority (45.00%) of respondents were having medium level knowledge regarding Maize Cultivation Practices. Majority the adoption of Improved Production Technology of Maize was found to be high that is 75.00 percent. According to the response from the respondents, non-performance of visit by agricultural personnel time to time ranked I for constraints faced by the respondents, Lack of hybrid seed ranked II, Lack of credit facility at time ranked III, Lack of proper resources and capital ranked IV and so on. According to the suggestions received from the respondents, Hybrid seed should be available in time, Credit should be available earlier and timely, Availability of fertilizers and other inputs should be in time, Technical advice and training should be given at right time and so on

    IMAGE PROCESSING BASED SMART SERICULTURE SYSTEM USING IOT

    Rearing of silkworm is highly dependent on environmental variations. To have a healthy cocoon production, it is necessary to have a proper temperature and humidity controlled house for silkworm rearing. Temperature, humidity and fresh air should be managed to get a wonderful silk product. An ideal temperature of 23°C to 28°C and humidity in between 65% to 85% is to be maintained. IoT based silkworm rearing house consists of sensors and actuators, which are interfaced with a low power controllers. The Sericulture unit can be equipped with a wireless sensor node to sense the real time Temperature and Humidity [1], also necessary actuators to control these environmental parameters. The color change in the body of the worms indicates the different stages  and the light yellowish indicates that they have reached to the cocoon stage and the morphological changes in silkworm structure can be used to detect abnormal worms[2].The proposed framework introduces an Internet of Things (IoT) empowered Wireless Personal Area Network (WPAN) system. The received image is first segregated into two classes as diseased or healthy by analyzing the histogram of the background removed image based on thresholding. Again the diseased class will be sub classified into 2 diseases as either Flacherie or Pebrine by applying suitable mask for extracting worm and obtaining the histogram of the worm and analyzing it. The result will be sent to the farmer via E-mail. The proposed system could be a probable solution for productivity in silkworms

    Tomato Seeds Bioprimed with Bioagents to Control Seed-Borne Pathogens

    Laboratory experiment was carried out to study the effect of biopriming with bioagents on the control of seed borne pathogens in tomato. Tomato seeds cv. PKM 1 were bioprimed with different bio-agents viz., Bacillus subtilis 1 at 6% concentration for 9 hours, Methylobacterium extorquens AM 1 at 4% concentration for 9 hours, Pseudomonas fluorescens Pf 1 at 8% concentration for 9 hours and hydropriming with water for 9 hours along with nonprimed seeds.  Sterilized seeds bioprimed with Pseudomonas fluorescens Pf 1at 8% concentration for 9 hours expressed less pathogen infection of Aspergillus flavus (0.2%), Aspergillus niger (0.2%), Fusarium sp. (2.5%) and Non- sporulating fungi (0.2%) than nonprimed seeds when tested in blotter paper method. In agar plate method also, the infection of Aspergillus flavus (0.2%), Aspergillus niger (0.4%), Fusarium.sp (0.2%) and Nonsporulating fungi (2.5%) were significantly minimum in sterilized seeds treated with Pseudomonas fluorescens Pf 1 at 8% concentration for 9 hours when compared to nonprimed seeds.&nbsp

    Cashew is now an important Horticulture plant for India and now India is exporting cashew at a good scale. Traditional Indian growing area comprises the parts of Karnataka, Maharashtra, Goa, West Bengal, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu states. However, now new areas are coming up with good potential for cultivation such as Gujarat, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Andaman and Nicobar island, North Earsten Hilly States. Cashew cultivars are recommended based on geographical distribution, climate, soil based on these flowering and fruiting time. Cashew nut yield and kernel weight can be different for different varieties and so on its quality with shelling can vary. Flowering and fruiting is greatly influenced by rain because it starts flowering after monsoon, which is greatly influenced by the onset and offset of Indian monsoon that India varies from state to state as India has north-east monsoon and south-west monsoon. Moreover, soil characteristics across India varies widely. Integrated effect of soil, rainfall and temperature drives the optimum growth of cashew trees, which resulted in the change in yield and quality of cashew nuts. The present review paper addresses many of these drivers and their impact on cashew produce in India.&nbsp

    Comparative Studies of Tomato and Cherry Tomatoes Different Varieties under Poly House Condition

    Research was carried out at Vegetable Research Farm, Department of horticulture, SHUATS, Prayagraj (U.P.) during winter season of 2020 - 2021, to evaluate different varieties of poly house condition traits of 7 Hybrids, with three replications in Randomized Block Design (RBD). Analysis of variance in the present investigation indicated that the genotypes evaluated differed significantly among all the treatment for all Thirteen traits. The hybrids Arka rakshak (887.01 kg) yield/hac and Total cost of cultivation (INR ha-1) 72,250.00. Cost Benefit Ratio of different varieties of tomato, Variable cost and total cost of cultivation of different varieties, Economics of cherry tomato and tomatos, Yield per hectare & plant height (cm).&nbsp

    PERCEPTION AND ATTITUDE OF THE FARMERS TOWARDS IMPROVED OKRA CULTIVATION PRACTICES IN EAST GODAVARI DISTRICT OF ANDHRA PRADESH

    Okra (Abelmoschus esculentusL.) also known as Lady’s Finger is an economically important summer vegetable crop that belongs to the family Malvaceae. It is known to have originated in tropical Africa. The crop is quite popular due to its easy cultivation, dependable yield and resistant to drought & water logging adaptability to varying moisture conditions & soil types. (Maurya et al., 2013). the major findings are  74.16 percent of the respondents have knowledge on soils that are Loose, loamy soils are required for Okra cultivation, followed by 64.16 percent of the respondents are saying that they cultivate Okra crop throughout the year. Okra plant produces fiber by 20.2 to 7.2 percent. (Chauhan 1972)  East-godavari district of Andra pradesh state was selected purposively based on the maximum farmers’ availability. Descriptive research design was used for the present study. A total of 120 respondents were selected purposively as a sample for the present investigation. The data was collected by using pre-tested schedule and analyzed using appropriate statistical tools. Karl Pearson’s Co-efficient of Correlation test was applied to find out the association between farmers socio-economic profile with independent variables. It was concluded that the socio-economic status of the respondents constitute medium level. It was observed that majority of the respondents belonged to the high level of perception and towards improved okra cultivation practices. There was a positive and significant relationship between independent variables with dependent variables

    Impact of Vocational Training Programme toward Rural Women Conducted by KVK in Korea District of Chhattisgarh

    KVKs impart trainings and education with a view to raise the level of knowledge, attitudinal changes and testing and transferring of recommended improved farm technologies so as to bridge the gap between production and productivity and also to increase self-employment opportunities among the farming community. Rural Women in India, contributing 25% of GDP, is increasingly becoming a Female Activity. The present study was an attempt to evaluate the impact of training on its beneficiaries with reference to know the extent of success in raising the income of beneficiaries. For attaining the objectives, the present investigation was carried out in Baikunthpur block of Koriya district, Chhattisgarh. A total of 60 trainees and 60 non-trainees were selected as sample for the study.  The data were collected by personal interview with the help of structured and pre-tested schedule.  Percentage and other statistical tools were used to analyze the data. Age, educational status, land holding, number of training attended and progressiveness had significant relation with income and employment generation. Size of family, occupation, annual income, extension participation and risk bearing capacity had non-significant relation with income and employment generation.&nbsp
